My TWO Finally Arrived!!

    • Gold Top Dog
I didn't notice any color change... nice and dark[:D].

Edited to add:  When I tried to give Duke Raw meat his poop went kind of yellowish... but wasn't firm.  Don't think that is normal, but that is what happend to duke.

Did anyone else have this color poop when they were first switching to TWO?

What is your Canidae/TWO ratio now?
    • Gold Top Dog
I went back again to check it out/pick it up...I am weird I know! It was a very small stool, a few sections were nice and dark, but there were also a couple of pieces that were lighter. Maybe it was that RMB last night, because it was edible in sections and almost looked like that texture in his poop! Does that make any sense?

Anyway, they were very small, firm, odor-less...and some nice dark pieces. I will wait and keep analyzing! Just thought I would let everyone know so they can follow the poops of my pup! HE HE HE [:D]

I bet you anything that it was the Raw Meat....
    • Gold Top Dog
    My ratio is 3/4 Canidae 1/4 TWO...with 1 cup morning/night.

I am going to do this for today, then up it tomorrow...I usually give it a 7 day transition to make sure all goes well. I would rather go too slow, than too fast.

ETA: Yeah, so I am not going to give him any other RMB's or canned food until the transition is complete.

It was like light green/yellow? I can't even describe it, how weird!! Did anyone else have this color poop when they were first switching to TWO? Also, how long did it last? Did it ever get a dark, normal color? It was very small, compact, firm, no odor...that was all a plus...but it was an odd color!!

Mine was two-toned as well because of the 2 different food (the pinnacle is pretty darn light in color) but as I keep increasing the amount of TWO It is almost dark all the way through now. For some reason the darker it gets, the less green it appears.

[:D] Happy to hear about the firmness and no odor. I think if I had switched them from Canidae to TWO I would be seeing similar results to you as JJ had very good poop on Canidae before his allergy problems. . .they just had MUCH further to go beacsue of the poor poop quality on Pinnacle.

I bet that explains it then. . . sounds similar to Twins experience.

That is the perfect word to describe it...two-toned! I also wanted to thank you for suggesting the warm water. I added it to the kibble, and he contemplated it for a minute, but then decided to scarf it up. So, breakfast is down and mom is happy, because that means I will get more poop to analyze!! [:D]

Why is this so exciting for me? [8D]

Why is this so exciting for me?

Because you need help. . . just like all the rest of do![:D]

I am so glad the warm water helped. I know that I have read somewhere on this forum that you need to be carefully adding warm water to kibble. . .I think it has to do with the probotics, but not sure.. .
that said, most greys are given some warm water in their kibble when they come to rescue because they have never been exposed to kibble. . . just raw meat. The wetting of the kibble is suppose to help them break it down a little better and make it more palatable and less "foreign" to them. I think a little tepid water is OK though.
My one cat doesn't like canned cat food, so I add in some water and make it like a "soup" and he eats it. . otherwise he turns up his nose.

if you don't want to go the water route long term, you could try 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt. . .I mix this into 1 of their 3 daily meals and also give this as a "treat" too when I dremel the nails.

Well, once this transition is complete (I am looking at 7 days, but could be sooner depending on how much Canidae I have) I will be giving him canned EVO again with his meals. I just want to make sure he does well on the TWO kibble alone. Thank you for the yogurt suggestion! I also heard that cottage cheese was good to add?

I know what you mean about adding water to moisten the kibble. I heard that you are not supposed to moisten kibble that contains citric acid, because that will higher the chance for BLOAT. Does TWO have citric acid, I don't think so, but I could be wrong...[>:]

    This is so exciting! [:D]

I was looking up the whole "adding water to kibble" thing I just metioned and so far I can't find what thread I saw someone metioning the cons. .  .so far all I see are pros: helps them prevent bloat. .  .and to quote chewbacca about her baby Ella, see the below quote. Looks like Ella likes her food better, so maybe your pup will too??  I am sure Rebecca will see this and post further info for you on her experience with it increasing food intake![:D]

Adding water has made her eat her kibble with a new enthusiasm that I haven't witnessed from her before when it's mealtime.

I had never heard that before... I always add warm water to Duke and Daisy's food.  I hope that I am not harming them.  If anyone else has more info on that I would like to have it!

Edited to say:  Ooops, sorry... we must have posted at the same time!

Mine adore cottage cheese! they get 2 meals daily with kibble and crockpotted meat or a little evangers and then 1 meal a day they get either yogurt or cottage cheese mixed in.   The alsoy loved the canned pumpkin so much though that even though i don't need it to firm their poop, I might add it in once in awhile as a treat.[;)]

All I know is NOT to add water to kibble preserved with Citric Acid...causes BLOAT. [:o]

Found what I was looking for (quoted from a post from Kennel Keeper):

OT, I know, but felt it was worth bringing up since you are really concerned with the probiotics and enzymes. Adding "very hot water" can destroy these ingredients and render them worthless. It's fine to add slightly warm water, but no hotter then that.

I thought I remembered hearing that too (about bloat) but on the "ash" thread says that it helps PREVENT bloat.  [sm=rolleyes.gif]
i dunno know. . .I am confused. . .either way i add it!
