Thank you for asking jj...she is better I think. Of course I thought that a couple of days ago, and then she started all over again...but only one night that we had to get up in the night...thank goodness.    She still has gas though,,and that is not like her normally.  I am not giving her the other,,actually its buried in the fridge,,,I better find it and throw it away.  I should have frozen it and then cut a lot of meat off of it for next time,,,becasue I do believe it was all the meat that didn't agree with her.   I  decided I am buying her some CET chews from work if they have large ones...and I will watch if I can get her some bigger marrow bones without meat,,and continue to give her chicken necks and occcasional turkey necks.  I'm not putting her OR us thru this again.
I know what you mean about a blood mess too,,Bubby sure made one also.

Yea, as good as RMB is for them, if it is not working for your family it might be for the best. I do agree that with time Bubby will probably adjust but that adjustment time effects all of you.[sm=eek.gif]

If he eats the other items you mentioned, then I think there are plenty of great things you have for his teeth.  I am limited due to food allergies, but I am finding that the bully sticks are working well around our house and Prudence's tarter seems to be going down and it has only been a week taht she has been with us.  If you haven't tried those, it might be an option. I think mine prefer the braided ones.

Thank you Edie,,,I actually meant to write that in my last post,,,and forgot.     I guess she kind of looks like a he though.......
I bought Bubblegum some CET chews from work today. I'm not for rawhides,,,and these look like plain regurlar rawhides..........but I decided I'm going to give them a try.  Lots of people were buying them today,,,and I always gave my other dogs regular rawhides all the time.  So between them, some raw bones,,and maybe I can work on another rib bone sometime,,only this time, I will cut off a lot of the meat.

     soooo sorry Bubby!  [sm=blush.gif]

Poor lil girl. . . mean ol JJ's mommy calling her a boy [:'(]

Let me know how Bublegum likes the CET chews. . . am thinking about trying them!
    • Gold Top Dog
    Oh don't worry,,,,Bubby doesn't mind,,,shes a tomboy,,,,likes to act like a boy sometimes you know!!!  LOL!
I bought the CET chews but didn't give her any yet. I wanted to this weekend,,but you know, she still has a bit of gas that she usually doesn't have,,so I thought I would wait until another day or so before giving her yet another new thing.

Probably better to wait then. I think I am going to pick up a bag of CET chews this week.

Glad she wasn't offened to be called a boy!  [:D]Do you have any "full pics" of Bubby? If I wasn't into greyhounds and their rescue so much, my  dog of choice would have been a dane. I adore them and love their personality. The only dogs that I HAVE TO stop on the street and ask if I can pet are greyhounds and Great Danes.  [sm=biggrin.gif]

Maybe I misunderstood  I have been given my dogs raw for 3-4 weeks now.  I give raw mainly for dental care and have given my boys beef rib bones several times  they chew on it forever but have never eaten the bone. Is there is a beef bone a dog can totally eat??

Other then Bubby eating chicken and turkey necks,,,I sure don't know which bones dogs can eat all the way. I know she can't eat a big marrow bone but I thought she would eat the rib.

Bubblegum is sooo beautiful. . . Gosh I LOVE DANES!  I just want to pinch all those cute inches of extra skin on their faces!! Great facial expression onteh 2nd pic! LOL

They are such amazing dogs!! Everytime I see one I really want one, but the greyhounds need me more.  [:(]  Oh well!

3 guysandagirl-  many dogs eat the whole bone, but some won't Bubby (Dyans Dane) didn't really eat the rib bone, but my greyhound would have polished off the whole thing if I hadn't taken it away from him (I was concerned about eating too much on his first time and causing tummy upset). He was much more interested in the bone than the meat and fat. I think most beef bones (as long as they are RAW can be chewed up and ingested. I have heard of folks using rib bones, marrow bones, soup bones and chicken wings.

I just purchased Raw Beef 4" Marrow Bones.

    Are those good? [&:]
    • Gold Top Dog
I think Glenda said she uses those with her GSD. I recall her mentioning something about that the marrow can sometimes be a little to rich for their tummies first few times so she suggeted you scrap a  little out. If I remember correctly she also mentioned that any bones that have a LOT of fat, you might want to take a little off to avoid upset tummies. [:)]

Thanks jjsmom06! [:)] I have no idea about these bones because they were the first ones I have ever bought in my life and I just got them yesterday. I really appreciate the feedback, never even thought about the marrow and stuff. I was wondering how he would get it out of the middle, but it looks like he's gotten quite a bit somehow. Anyway, so far his stools have been good...hopefully he doesn't get gassy! He he...well now I will know what the cause is if he gets the runs!

    THANK YOU [:D]
