Rainbow Bridge
The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Socks, a remarkable old gal
We lost our Socks today. She was 17. My husband found her in a Chicago street when she was a 6 month old puppy and he was a young lonely cop going through a divorce. She was a superior dog. She thought that life was all about her. She was healthy, and robust until she suffered two bouts of IMHA...

So many years ago
Its been many years since my Lassie girl passed away but I had her when I was 10 and she lived 13 years. She was a friend to me that no one could ever be. There were times I needed someone to talk to and she was always there. If I was sad she would put her nose under my hand and just let me know she...

Sallie has gone over the Rainbow Bridge
My best friend Sallie was put to sleep in my arms on July 26th, 2006. She was only 18 months old, but her injuries continued to cripple her, and she began losing the use of her remaining front leg, falling and bruising her poor chest. She tried so hard to be brave, to run, to play. But how could we ignore...

My Chelsea girl has gone to Rainbow Bridge
Yesterday, Chelsea, my faithful friend for 14 years left for the Rainbow Bridge. It was the hardest thing I have ever done.. letting her go. I know it was for the best, she was very weak and could not walk or run anymore. I miss her so much. I know where she is now, she is happy and is running again...

Xerxes' uncle had a stroke
Xerxes' uncle, Marshall Matt Dillon (Marsha, Marsha, Marsha) had an ischemic stroke last week and was put down in his home surrounded by those that loved him. He was almost 5 years old, was a dual champion (conformation and lure coursing) and even though he was red in color, he still had many many...

Poem I wrote for my dog shortly before she had to be put to sleep
"I love You and Goodbye." Soon you will be gone. I know it but, I can't stop it. I want to hold you but, you slip away. I wish for the old days to return. You and I used to walk, swim, run, play and hug. It's so different now, you hurt so much that I hurt too. The indignity...

Sweet Leapin Lola will leave soon
My heart is heavy with grief this morning at the news of Leapin Lola, a retired Grayhound that is in the end stages of Kidney failure. Her owner will be helping her cross over to the Rainbow Bridge soon. The distance is too far for me to say my last good byes to her or to offer a lending hand and...

Rainbow bridge
Hi all, I am new to this forum and happened upon the rainbow bridge section. As I sit here with the tears drying on my face I thought it appropriate to remember my beloved german shepherd Duchess. She crossed the rainbow bridge on April 30th of this year. Her hip dysplasia became so severe she just cried...

The Shepherd Fancy lost another one
I don'[t know who has heard and who hasn't, and if this is posted anywhere else, but on July 20th, 2006, the breed lost a great dog. Ch Kismet's Sight For Sore Eyes, HT, PT, aka "Dallas" died at the age of 13, from what appears to be a stroke. Dallas was never really my kind of dog, but he was...
