Hhm, how long have their neighbors had the ban in place?

As I stated they have had the ban for three years,

    AuroraLove
So what proof have they that the ban is working?

The amount of pit bull attacks dropped from 29 per year before the ban down to 2 last year an 0 so far this year.

Is that by how many innocent pit bulls they have ripped out of homes and put to sleep, LOL?

Actually they "grandfathered" in those dogs that lived there before the ban as long as the people registered them and followed certain precautions with them.

Please DO NOT THINK I AM ENDORSING A BAN on ANY breed!  I am just pointing out how the ban will appeal to many in Omaha because they are having a large problem with pit bull attacks.

I would really like to hear thier reasoning behind the fact that is successful, do you have a link?

When you hold owners accountable, dog injuries drop! Council Bluffs is, imo, proof that a all out breed ban is ridiculous. The problem isn't pitbulls. It is reckless ownership.

The point is that the majority of people just want to be safe from what they percieve as a threat.  It does not matter to them if the problem is with the dog or with the owner.  The way they look at it banning the dogs takes care of the problem either way.

If Pitt Bulls were banned wouldnt it be very easy to re-create it using other breeds?

They certainly will replace them with different breeds, if that's what you mean. If you go to page 12 I posted an example there......

granted I know the pit bull has the capacity to do more damage and the population of pit bulls is far greater thus resulting in more attacks especially since they appeal to irrepsonsible people. But I had a good chuckle at the thought of gangsta joe walking his dashcund on a studded collar, LOL

Absolutely. And that's the reason to focus on the people....not the dogs...
