    Mindless Hump Day Chat

    Going to vent here:

It is about 45 degrees out and windy here this morning.  Of course it is cooler than usual inside buildings.  I came in at 8:00a to find that my favorite co-worker had set the thermostats at 77 degrees.  It's going to be a long winter.

    /rant over

Agnes decided she needed to try out my regular couch this morning while I was getting ready for work.  I'm not a fan of dogs on my furniture, esp. when they leak urine.  She was very cute, but I had to stick to my boundaries, so off to "her" couch/bed she went.  I'm horribly mean, I know.

It was 45* here too! Went for a nice fast walk - solo - put it in health that B has been limping again since Sunday.  Xrays are scheduled for Friday and I am quite anxious

Busy day - lately it seems they are all busy and I have to force myself to step away from work about 9 at night.  I'd like to say that it means I am awash with cash, but alas I am not. Sad

Tina we have always felt fortunate that B shows no interest in going on furniture as I am super mean and don't enjoy dogs on furniture

Healing vibes to all that need them.

Tina, I'll send you a locking cover for the thermostat at work and you can hide the key. Wink  Agnes, cute just gets you so far in this world and it doesn't get you on the furniture.  Nice try. lol

Bittersweet day for me.  I'm meeting the GSD rescue gal at lunch to give her the puppy.

Gosh Tina, did you guys get ANY nice weather??  It was still snowing when I left MI the end of April, they had a freeze in May and now it's that chilly already????  Holy crap!

I so enjoy the cooler weather!  For the first time since we moved in I was able to turn the AC off and just open windows yesterday.  And I got chilly in the night last night!  Our high was only 77 yesterday with humidity in the low 30's.....and I got up this morning to not even 60 degrees outside!!  This is just plain heaven!

So Jen is back in the hospital for IV antibiotics and will stay there until the white count goes down, then home with IV antibiotics.  The MRI was to find additional pockets of puss I guess.

DIL is up to her same old tricks.  I know this is awful to say, but I wish to heck he'd pack up and leave.

Glenda, I know I haven't really posted much on the subject, but you and yours are in my thoughts.

Tina, my dogs aren't allowed on my furniture either, though true to form sometimes I slack off on that too, and one will crash out with me for an hour or so, then I get to argue with them about not going on the furniture again.

Bugsy, get better!  No more limping, and make sure those xrays turn out good.  Yikes!  Crusher sprained his ankle last year, limped for a week or so, but he's good, and no medical intervention was really needed.

Jackie....its not too late...Sad  I know.  This is the right thing to do, and you have my support, but we're gonna miss that pup already!

My dad threw his back out on Monday.  Its been a fun week at work without him.  Thank doG that we trained Steph last week!  My mom and I had to do the rush on Monday alone, cause Steph had an 11:00 colour and couldn't make it in.  We did pretty well, but from the numbers it wasn't as good of a day as it seemed at the time.  Yesterday was dead.

Its freezing in my house.  My furnace hasn't been fixed yet since the end of the year last winter.  I tried calling around yesterday, but the first place was all booked up and my dad told me if I cold hold off for a few days, he would come take a look for me.  Hopefully its something minor and I don't need a whole new furnace!

77?  I'd think the powers that be might say "perhaps you should bring a sweater?"  SHE's not cost-effective in the workplace!

No, you aren't mean ... you're CONSISTENT.    So hallelujah that she feels comfy enough with you to press her boundaries and **try** but good for you that you treat her "normally" and just give her consistency (which for an older rescue can be HEAVEN).

*I* came into work and sneezed almost 25 times.  So now I can't see and can't breathe.  Gotta love allergies!!

It's been a bizarre summer.  We've had a hot week or two in June and July.  End of July/early August we had heat and humidity.  Then it was cold and rained for a week.  By the end of August we had normal summer weather.  September we've had the drought we usually get in July/August.  Last week was beautiful - 70s every day.  Then Sunday this cold front moved in.  We are expecting frost tonight.

Ever just have one of those days where you just don't feel like dealing with all the drama at work? I called in sick this am. Then I called the vet to see if I could bring Lex in today, instead of Saturday which is when our appointment was. So 945 we are going in. I am so nervous, I hope everything will be ok with him. No hip/leg problem vibes would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, I know.  We go round & round about this every year.  She already wears heavy sweaters.  She really needs a space heater.  My boss is a great guy, but sometimes things that need to be said don't get said.  Our ceilings are high, so it's like being in church - all the heat is above us and at hand/foot level, she is cold.  I keep my vent closed because it's just too much for me.  I don't expect it to be as cold as I keep my house, but sometimes you could bake cookies it's so hot in here.

Karen, I hope Bugsy's mystery soreness is uncovered and you can get him on the mend.

Jackie, thank you for helping the pup.  (((Hugs))) for strength in letting her go.

Deb, if you're out there, check out the Wednesday beaglets pics!

    Grrrrrrrrrr . . . . . . . . . . . .  I was just stuck in a 2 1/2 hour traffic jam.  Not a good way to start the day.

Jackie:  Thank you for taking care of that pup !!

I think I'll go off and look at some beaglets to improve my foul mood.

I'm so glad that Agnes is feeling good enough to claim your couch, Tina!

Karen, have they ruled out a cruciate tear or partial tear in Bugsy?  When Brinxx tore her first one, she was lame off & on.  It took almost 6 weeks of resting her, multiple vet visits, & various x-rays before they finally found it.  The only reason that they figured it out was because I took her in for stitches after she cut herself.  They knocked her out, stitched her, & then because they knew that she was still lame, felt her knee while she was asleep.  She was relaxed, & not tensing the knee, & they got a very obvious drawer sign.

Jackie, I'm sad for you that the puppy is going. :(

I called & cancelled the movers for today.  I am starting to feel better, but I don't feel nearly well enough to deal with moving today.  For $60 extra they will move us this weekend.  It seems like $60 well spent to me!

DH, Bevo, & Brutus had a difference of opinion last night. Hmm  I am finally getting over the horribly congested stage of my cold/flu.  Now, I have reached the cough until you vomit stage.  Last night, I had a coughing fit, & took off for the restroom to pray to the porcelain god.  This, of course, means that Bev & Bru both come along.  (God forbid I go into the bathroom alone!)  I was conversing with the toliet, Brutus was resting his chin on the side of the toliet watching the festivities, & Bevo was either trying to hold my hair back for me, or he was trying to shove my head into the toliet to drown me & put me out of my misery.  Not really sure which one...

DH came in to check on me, & was told by Bevo to get out.  DH & Bev have these little power struggles from time to time, & it has turned into a game between them.  DH talks crap to Bev, & in return Bev growls, & arooroos at DH.  It's kinda cute.  I was preoccupied so I let it go without considering that Brutus might join in the fun.  As I recall, DH was telling Bevo to get out, & Bev was talking back to DH when Brutus decided to side with Bevo & growled at DH.  At that point, I managed to come up for air long enough to tell DH to get out, Bevo to stop, & Brutus to sit down.

Afterwards, I had to point out to DH, that while I realize that he & Bevo are playing, he really needs to remember that Brutus might not understand that they are playing, & he may react.  Hopefully, we won't have anymore of those shenanigans again.

Deb, take the day off, & hit a bar.  Just drink the foul mood away! Big Smile

I hope everyone with family and puppy issues are able to get them resolved soon.  It seems like there has been a lot of it lately.  I hope it passes soon.

Amanda, coughing until you vomit doesn't sound like a good thing.  That could be swine flu, pneumonia, or even the whooping cough.  Please get yourself to the Dr if you aren't feeling a lot better pretty soon or if you are having any trouble breathing at all.  There is so much stuff going around these days it is probably better to be safe than sorry...especially with the swine flu being so bad in Texas right now...

I had dinner with some of my girlfriends last night and it was so very enjoyable!

I am worrying about Harley.  He has been acting sort of off lately.  We had a lot of rain a week or two ago and he was panting and shaking a lot during that week which isn't at all unusual for him with a storm.  Now the rain is gone, but he is still panting at odd times, and he seems to want to go outside all the time.  He may just be getting old, but if hubby thinks he is acting strange too, then he probably is. I think a visit to the vet is in order this weekend.
