Hump day chat!

Sleep  I am so sleepy right now.

I feel like going home and napping on my deck, soaking up some of the sun we finally have here.

    Cita
    I did awesome!!!! So surprised!

WooHoo!  We knew you could do it. Yes

4shelties, complain loud and complain often.  That's sort of thing just makes me furious.  I hope your house issues settle down soon.

I am without wheels for lunch, so what could I do but order pizza delivered?  The delivery guy called from across the street wondering where we were located.  He described where he was and I told him to look across the street and he would see our building.  It's not like we don't have our address and he knew the name of the business.  Oh well, he got a nice tip anyway because I was starving. lol

eta, I love your new siggy Heather!

Courtney, I'm not surprised you did well on your GREs.  I mean with your smarts & all of us pulling for you the only thing you could do was ace them.  CONGRATS!!!!

I forgot to mention Agnes.  How is that possible?  I just have this cute picture of her toddling along sniffing all the goodies out there to sniff.  What joy must be in her heart.

Well, crap.  From Sis's email this morning.

Jen went to the podiatrist this morning and he is appalled at the infection.   He was never called from the hospital which he should have been and they totally did not treat the foot as they should have.   She is being switched to a much stronger antiboitic and is having surgery tomorrow.   She will actually be put under.

    This is darned scarey.

Amanda, absolutely do your own packing.  The pro's just throw everything in the same box and it's a mess getting it straight on the other end.

Cita - Huge congratulations on your GREs!!

Jackie - I want to borrow "puppy" for the day. I could use a pleasant, non-work, distraction.

I left in a crummy mood yesterday and wasn't much better when I got home. Poor DH. I told my Dep. Dir. this morning that I'm tired of waiting for a part-time assistant. I told him that I'm really hating my job and I don't like feeling that way. He's a great guy and knows it's needed and said he talked to our budget folks yesterday and there's enough money to do it. Now we need to convinece the big boss. My temp assistant will be gone after Friday and I'm seriously depressed about it. He's been soooo much more help than I could've imagined. He said if the job in New York doesn't work out, he wants to come back.

Oh geez, Glenda.  I'm sorry to read that about your niece.  We'll keep the good thoughts coming.

Congratulations Courtney!  I never doubted your abilities.

Moving sucks.  I've done it a lot because of the Navy.  I hate saying that you're better off packing your own stuff, but you are.  Used to be that the packers would box up anything not cemented down, and if you hadn't washed dishes before they came, they'd pack them dirty.  I know someone this happened to.  And the movers aren't half as careful with your stuff as you are.  We had an antique secretary (writing desk) ruined by the movers who thought it was two pieces, and proceeded to pry it apart once they got to the warehouse, even though we helped them load it originally and told them it was one whole piece.  Military contracted movers, not the sharpest pencils in the box.

     Great Job Cita!!

Glenda, so sorry to hear she needs surgery but hopefully they can clean it up and that will start the recovery.  How can something so relatively simple turn into such a freaking nightmare?  Praying for Jen and for your entire family.    When is the surgery?

    • Gold Top Dog

Surgery is tomorrow.  This is just soooo incredible. Such a simple thing is right.....

    • Gold Top Dog

Geez, Glenda, I can't believe what a horror your poor neice is going through right now.  I'll be sending good vibes her way tomorrow for her surgery.  Please let her know that we're pulling for her.

Actually, I just remembered finding a little pile of about 5-6 paper napkins that I had on the coffee table that the packers carefully wrapped up in packing paper & placed in a box.  Confused  Ah, remembering the wonders of moving.  I wish you luck, Amanda.  :)

Oh, I just went to get my snail mail.  I'm smiling, Jackie.  Big Smile  Thank you!!!

    ETA: Yeah for SUNSHINE, Heather!!!!

I had put a loaf of bread on top of the fridge for my lunch.  They packed it.  They also packed my wastebasket, which had not been emptied.

I'm going to try to get a credit on my water bill

Our very first water bill in our house was over $250.  We discovered it was due to a constantly running toilet.  I called the county water dept about it, and they sent me a form and told me to do the following:

    1. Wait 1-2 more billing cycles after the repair so they could determine the "normal" water usage (which was around $30-40 a month)
    2. Submit to them a form (which they faxed to me) and a copy of a repair bill (or in my case, the receipt from Home Depot showing we bought the stuff to do the repair ourselves)

I did those, and they determined what the overage was, and "split the difference" with me.  We had no water bill for probably 4 months while the credit worked its way down.  You might be able to get a similar deal.

Glenda, I sure hope your niece's surgery goes well!

    WAY TO GO Courtney!!!!

Glenda, I can't believe what a trainwreck Jen's "simple procedure" has turned into.  Hopefully the surgery tomorrow will help clear up all of the issues.

Steph, there is no way that I'd let the boys pack, or even let DH pack for that matter!  I'm pretty sure that if they were to pack, I would end up finding a pot, two pans, three pairs of my panties, a loaf of bread, & Shooter all packed together in one box!!!

I have used packers before because I didn't really have another option.  I will never do that again!!!  I spent forever trying to sort through boxes just to find my stuff.  DH & the kids are going camping this weekend, so I know that I will have plenty of time to get stuff packed then.  I have decided to use movers, which is sort of sad since we are only moving about 10 minutes away, but our dining table weighs a ton, & I don't want to have to try to help carry everything.

I attempted to do a little packing earlier, but I got distracted.  We did a fitting for Bev & Bru's Halloween costumes.  They are going to dress up as Michael Phelps, or Chippendale dancers.  Not really sure which one yet...

DS #2 would die if he knew that Bev & Bru can wear his undies!

Hahahahah, I think Brinxx is laughing.  No more comments about the tighty whities. ~L~

2shelties, I added two dogs to your household.  Hope you don't mind. lol   The water utility should be willing to forgive a bill that reflects water leak problem or at least give you partial credit if you provide a copy of the repair bill.   We had something similar years ago when a pipe broke while we were away.  Took some time on the phone and a few hairs pulled out but they finally agreed to credit the extra usage due to the leak.
