Amanda... when I was in elementary school, I entertained myself by doing arts and crafts in class. During social studies, the girl who sat next to me and I once made an entire mini-mini-golf course out of brightly colored index cards. I don't know why we never got in trouble, except that maybe the teacher didn't care because we weren't disruptive about it?
If your son can't test into a higher, more challenging grade... maybe you could suggest he take up quiet cartooning during class?
I don't know how appropriate the suggestion would be, coming from an adult, but...
Edited to add: I had forgotten, but the girl who made the mini golf course with me? She ended up going to Harvard! So I guess the experience didn't scar her academically.
Tina, I'm glad Agnes got to "play" with the squirrel :)
Annie, send your rain to CA? We certainly don't want it here, up north!
Today I am FREAKING OUT because I'm taking the GREs on Saturday. Multiple-choice math tests are not my forte, and I haven't taken a math class in over 6 years, so I've spent the last month trying to re-learn stupid things like basic algebra.
Exponents... those are those tiny little numbers way up high, right? And triangles... those have 3 angles that all add up to something.... and some of them are special for some reason... wheeeeee. I've been busting my butt studying, but I'm still not at all confident about my performance. Fingers tightly crossed. Worst case scenario I can re-take the test in a month.
