Pirate got attacked by a pit bull :(

Meg, I am not meaning to scare you, but my Shari was attacked by a pit when she was about 3 years old and it changed her forever.  She was extremely wary of other dogs from that point forward, no matter what we did to try to re-socialize her.  She'd run the other way if approached (she never fought back w/ the pit), and she was the most docile, loveable dog I've ever known.  I hope Pirate heals physically and emotionally.  Puncture wounds are very painful to dogs as well as humans.  I hope both of you find some resolution.  (((HUGS))) and gentle rubs to the Pi -man.

Megan, I am sending  my prayers for you and little Pirate.  I totally agree that you should do everything possible to teach this idiot just what a huge mistake he made this morning.

I agree with everyone else about this guy needing to learn a lesson.  Something tells me that just having his dog taken away wouldn't phase him much.  Heck, he hasn't even bothered to get her vacc'd???  Suing him would probably wake him up a bit.

How scary.  I could never imagine being in this situation!  I hope you and Pi heal fast! 

And yes!  Sue the pants off this guy!!!!!  Keep track of loss wages, and medical bills!!

Aww i hope you and pirate are ok Bailey was attacked by a dog on a walk a few months ago, hes fine now but it did take him a while to feel safe around other dogs again. I know your probably pissed at the dog (and owner) for what happend, i sure was at the the dog that attacked Bailey,  but i really hope the dog isnt destroyed. IMO, that dog doesnt deserve to die just because her owner is an idiot.

Megan, you & Pi are in my thoughts.  Grady sends kisses to you once Thor is finished.  I'm sending all my love to Pi.   I know how much punctures hurt.  Please take care of yourself & give both Tiki & Pi some kisses from me.  Poor Pi.

I am so sorry to read this! Poor Pirate, I hope he heals quickly.

As a side note, have your lawyer contact their home insurance. They'll probably get a lawyer to counter that, but since the dog bit YOU it needs to be reported to their home insurance. They'll be dropped like a hot potato.

OMG, what a horrible ordeal.  So glad you and the little Pi-man weren't hurt any worse than you were.  What kind of fool would drive around with a window low enough for a dog to actually jump out?

 I am SO sorry that you both had to go through that.  I can't even imagine how terrifying it must have been.  Sending tons of good thoughts and healing vibes your way, and please keep us posted on how things go.

I know how you feel--my hand was swollen for days after I was bitten.

Pirate may well be fine after the shock goes away.  Gypsy was attacked by two Rotts when she was a puppy.  It did NOT change her happy go lucky attitude at all.
