Mindless Tuesday

    Mindless Tuesday

I contacted Akita Club of Houston and was told they can't rescue because he doesn't look like enoug Akita, the person responding being a judge of the breed. Which was a slap in the face to me, because I've seen other pics of Akitas and they looked like Buck. Anyway, that's one rescue that won't help him because he's a mixed breed. I guess if people are going to be that particular, I'm going to have to find a mixed breed rescue. I was told he was not Akita nor that he might have St. Bernard. Taking him back to Sherman Animal Care and Control is not the best option. They have a euth schedule. I live and learn, fast, the hard way.

Which makes me wonder, even with the expensive test, how accurate are the DNA tests?

I'm sorry to hear about Buck! he is very lucky to have you looking out for him, Ron.

Last night I went to bed about 10:30.  I slept until 3:30 this morning and was wide awake ever since.  Not going to be a good day!  At about 4:30 or so i decided to move downstairs to the couch, and I did so verrry quietly, so as not to wake Derek.  This morning I woke to Derek yelling for me frantically lol oops.  He always wakes up when I sleepwalk etc., but this morning I was trying to be quiet so I wouldn't wake him.  I now know I should just let him know where I'm going.

    I need a nap :(

Ron that stinks really really stinks - the DNA tests are worthless.  You may be best off trying to find small rescues.  I had a horrible time when I tried to help someone give up their two lab/golden mixes.  They were older so even my trustworthy SPCA said no guarantees, but around here there are some smaller rescues that take all sorts of dogs (and cats) that no one else wants.  Hang on Buck - you'll be safely in rescue soon!

woke up to 60* woooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo doing a happy dance - well until B found cat poop to eat - Erica his gas later today will be beyond vile.

slower day today - may go to the outlets with DH & stepson

Dawn glad to hear your DH is feeling better and congrats Kord I knew you could do it!!!

Need some more java now - have a good one folks

Hopefully Buck will find his forever family soon. Your a good man Ron.

Gas? My god Kord can clear a room in seconds when he is laying SBD's.

Thank you all again for the well wishes. After posting last night I went to go make some dinner, did not really want to eat but did not want to waste the food either. Dinner was almost done and I trying to figure out if I should eat some, freeze some or just eat it for breakfast and lunch as well when there was a knock on my door.

It was my mother in law!  We took one look at each other and started bawling. My youngest BIL who drove her over just rolled his eyes. My problem of the food waste was resolved!

Kord did not eat anyone. And behaved so well. Not even a growl if they moved through the bedroom during the night. This boy deserves steak.

I left the house this morning feeling a bit better, still not sleeping through the night, but it was nice knowing they were there. When I left she was talking to Kord and he was listening but trying to wake my BIL to play. They are going to do the same routine with him I did yesturday, head over to the hospital so she can and I quote.......

"blubber and hug and then spank" her first born. For now they plan to head back to West Virginia since she has to work tonight and they need the money, but I told her if they decide to stay they are more than welcomed.

    Off to call the hospital.

I need to get out of Florida. I got desperate around 1am, and took probably more allergy medicine than I should have. I did go to sleep after that, but I woke up this morning feeling like a zombie. I wanna be home, where I can be allergic to the cat, so at least when I leave home, I'll feel better.

Holy crap, it's September already.  One of those things you wish your mother hadn't been right about - that time seems to go by faster as you get older.  That should only be the rule for the time at work.  Time

Yawn.....been up since before 6 and can't seem to wake up.  May need to switch from drinking the coffee to an IV.

I was in the kitchen yesterday, middle of the day, and felt someone watching me.  Glanced out the window and there stood the female deer.  Once she knew that I'd seen her, she took several steps closer and then calmly started eating.  At one point she was no more than four feet from the windows. So cool!!

I've been trying to get a cold for more than a week now.  I wish I'd either just GET it or get it to go away....this in between stuff is annoying.

I'm a little creeped out this morning.  I stop, daily, at a little coffee shop on my way to work.  I usually see the same people there every day, & I don't really think much of it.  For the past week & a half, there has been a new guy, who obviously doesn't really fit into the coffe shop crowd.  He always gets in line behind me.  I ignored it until yesterday, when I was there almost 2 hours earlier than normal time & he was there waiting, & he hopped in line right behind me.  I thought it was kinda odd that he seems to always be there at the same time that I am.  Today, I skipped the coffee shop, & went straight to work, & I saw him in our parking garage.  I work in a professional building.  He is not dressed appropriately to be an employee in the building & he isn't wearing a maintenance uniform either.  I'm sure that it's nothing, but it's a little creepy nonetheless.

Yikes, Amanda, that's really disturbing. I would certainly alert your building's security, and maybe even the police. Maybe talk to the coffee shop owners/management, too, and see if they have any insight.

And maybe the next time you skip coffee, make sure Bevo is very noticeably accompanying you to work?

    Stay safe!!

You should probably file a police report Amanda.  Better safe than sorry and all that     . . . . .

It seems like every one of my staff has "issues" today.  I'm your boss, not your mother !!  I'll probably wind up slapping someone today.

Amanda - that IS creepy... hmm. I agree with Cita - alert security - just in case.

The gas has subsided. THANK DOG. It was awful - and made me appreciate my gas free animals even more.

I emailed my boss yesterday with an either or question (do this, or that). He responded - ok. Huh? well that does not answer my question....!

Ron - how big is Buck? I've seen pictures - but it's hard to tell...

    • Gold Top Dog

    Report it Amanda!

    And go grab Brutus.

Ron - how big is Buck? I've seen pictures - but it's hard to tell...

I think he said he was 70lbs but maybe that's what he will be fully grown.  I saw 70lbs in one of Ron's posts about Buck. Some bosses are all about not being able to make decisions.  They got to be bosses by seniority rather than skill, never a good result, IMO.  But maybe your boss didn't read the email and thought ok was an ok answer. lol

Amanda, make a police report AND take Brutus or Bevo to work.  Don't assume he's harmless, he's stalking you.  This is your virtual mother speaking, so you better mind me.

Deb, slap a few for me.  I'm not in a good mood but have no one to slap today.  Twister is the only one at work today and I would never slap my Twister boy.  I've only ever slapped one person in my whole life and he deserved it and more.

I need some good jokes, come on, you know you've got 'em.

    • Gold Top Dog

hmm...70# is a bit big for my shelter... I'll have to poke around in my contacts...

Jackie - my boss is GOOD. He's where he is because he's one of the best at what he does. If I said his name, I'm sure a few people would recognize it (but I wont, for safety reasons ;)). But... straight answers have never been his strong suit. He probably only read part of my email... Confused typical man.

My mom's going for her colonoscopy today - so good colon vibes would be appreciated.

It has been the WORST allergy year here I can remember -- anything that doesn't make you sleepy doesn't work on me so I'm left with Benedryl and I have LIVED in a zombie state now for months.  I'm using both homeopathics AND allergy meds ugh.
