Mindless Tuesday....I think.

I'm waiting for the Terminix guy to come and do another pest inspection.  Apparently the one I had in February can't be used for a sale because it can't be any longer than three months. There weren't any unpleasant surprises then so there shouldn't be any now ... I hope.

Cathy, I've been thinking about you and will continue to do so and send you good vibes.  Its going to be a piece of cake, and you will feel so much better afterwards.  [[[hugs]]]

No dreams that I can remember last night, but I was awoken by a big mean cat scratch.  I've got three slices on my leg as a result.  D*&n Cat!

    Traveling today through Friday.  Bleh!

Farming will have to be done in the wee mornings and evenings.

I'm feeling antsy today for some reason...probably because I had SO much undone stuff to finish before my travels.  I'm almost ready, so...maybe I just need one of those $5.00 airline drinks, all 4 oz of it.  LOL

Cathy,  sending some calming vibes to you for your appointment.  I know you're worried, which is understandable; try to keep positive thoughts.  All the worrying won't change things anyway (I know, all my worrying still hasn't helped a darn thing).

Also, your comment about researching the company before your DH ordered the TV - did you forget - he's a guy?  All he could see was what he wanted: "Og want flat screen TV.  Og order.  It so shiny, Og want shiny and buttons.  Lots of buttons.  Og so happy!"

Barbara, I'm sorry your cat scratched you - they can be little monsters for sure.  Maybe have 2 of those airline drinks to ease the pain!

Oh man Tina, thanks for making me truly laugh outloud. It's almost like you were there Big Smile

I'm surprisingly more calm about the surgery than I'd been feeling. It's funny on the hysterectomy forum the women are more worried about whether or not they have to do a bowel prep the night before than the actual surgery. Not surprisingly, it's the one thing I'm anxious to hear about today Ick!. Fingers crossed that my dr. is one who doesn't require it.

This is really crazy, sad. My best friend flew from Tampa to So. Cal. last Thursday for an 80th BD party for her uncle. It was more of a family reunion with aunts, uncles, and cousins that she hadn't seen for 10-15 yrs. There were about 30 or more of them that all traveled there for this event. The BD party was to be Sat. afternoon. The uncle got up that morning, made some coffee, sat down to drink it and had a massive heart attack and died. His wife found him some time later (he was cold) and she too had a mild heart attack (she's okay now). Fortunately, my friend got to see her uncle Thurs. evening but many of the others never got the chance. Sad

LOL, Cathy, my BF is that way. He's been 'phished' by a company pretending to be paypal, and scammed by 'collection agencies' collecting on his credit cards, that he pays on time every month...on and on. THINK before you act, come on! Good luck at your appointment!

Glenda, Pirate wants some of your dog beds if the GSD's can't be nice to them. I have the my duvet hanging outside to dry and I just put all three of his beds in the wash so he has NO WHERE TO LAY. doG forbid he lay on the floor, LOL. He's boycotting and went to lay on my brother's bed, which has nice rumpley stinky covers.

I've decided that it is very hard to survive on minimum wage. Better than nothing, but still sucky. I mailed an application to a special-needs daycare that has a teacher's assistant spot open, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Either that or I'm moving to Texas to be Bevo's live-in dogsitter/Amanda's housekeeper/nanny. I like Texas, I think...

    Or you could apply to be Tina's personal chef  . . . . . I heard she's looking !!

Shoot, I can't cook. I'm really good at doing call-ahead seating and picking up takeout though!

Cathy, sending you lots of comfortable and relaxing thoughts!

Cathy, I know exactly what you mean about the bowel prep possibility being a worry.  Ugh to that.  That story about your friend's Uncle is so sad but hopefully he died knowing he had lots of friends and family coming for his party.

Pirate, Twister feels the same way about laying on the floor.  That's for dogs. lol

Barb, farm town is not playing nice this afternoon so I can't add you til they get their glitches figured out.  Have some fun on your trip and definitely need two of those teeny drinks.  I hate that Southwest doesn't take cash anymore.  For some reason I won't buy a drink if I have to hassle with a credit card but I will gladly whip out the cash.

I hope DH is feeling better today.  His back has really been bothering him lately but he refuses to see a doctor.  Sheesh.  He is very, very resistant to seeing doctors for any reason.  I don't even know why but he's been that way since I've known him.  He really needs a thorough physical and bloodwork, etc but if I push too hard he resists harder.  I've tried every method I can think of to get him to go, but unless he is seriously hurt or in so much pain he's incapacitated he just digs in his heels.  Years ago he had kidney stones and was literally laying on the floor pounding it with his fists before he let me take him to the doctor.  I wonder if he likes the attention sometimes but the fact is I am not the most sympathetic person with people who whine and complain. :(    Either get some medical  help or shut up is my general attitude on health issues.  Sorry, that turned into a bit of a vent. lol

ROFL!  Really, I only want a break once in a while.  I get tired of trying to be creative.  Plus, it's hard to cook for one person.  I'm not much for a lot of leftovers, esp. if it means I'm eating the same thing 4 nights out of 7.

Cathy, that is so weird and sad all at once about your friend's uncle.

Meg, poor little Pirate - no blankie.  Would you stop torturing him?  Don't you know he needs a special bed that only gets used while you wash the others?

The nectarine that I brought with my lunch turned out to be all grainy, not juicy and sweet like I'd hoped.  I'm a little bummed.  At least the milk for my cereal was still good.

Mine's the same way Jackie. It doesn't help that the one time I convinced him to go for his back, they didn't do much for him. I'm not sure what it'd take to get him go again. I hope your husband feels better soon.

I wasn't sure how much DH wanted to go to my appt today so I told him that he really didn't need to and explained that the dr. runs late a lot, etc. I didn't want him to go and then be griping about it and it wasn't a big deal to me. He emailed me earlier this morning and said he really wants to go Angel

I'm eating a Lean Cuisine chicken alfredo dish and it's delicious. I could eat 2 or 3 of these but I guess that'd defeat the "lean" part of the meal, right?

Pirate is STILL in bro's room. He has the only ceiling fan in the house and I think Pirate likes that, too.

So, how bad is it to run a vacuum without the HEPA filter in? BF **threw it away**. Seriously. The new filters are $20, and I could buy an el cheapo vacuum for $30, but I don't have any money, either way, LOL. I can't stand looking at the carpets anymore, I usually run the vacuum once a day and it's been broken for more than a week now. Who throws away a HEPA FILTER?? Whyyyyy??

    • Gold Top Dog

Well... if it were me, I would be inclined to duct-tape coffee filters over the filter area and just fire it up! But I also don't suffer from any respiratory problems, so...

There's always the option of a straight broom? Doesn't clean as well as a vacuum of course, but still does okay for getting the worst of the dirt and hair up. That's what I always had to use in college!

    • Gold Top Dog

Megan, I have one of those carpet sweepers.  The type you see them use in restaraunts.  They don't get deep dirt but for a quick pick up of hair and itty pieces of stuff, they work great.  I actually have two, one at home and one at work.  BOLO for one on craigslist or at garage sales.  I paid around $30 - $50 range, so not too expensive.   I do have a real vacuum, a Dyson, but don't always want to do a full cleaning.  Lazy.

    • Gold Top Dog

I tried sweeping carpet once.  It made it worse, somehow.  I would be a little cautious of not using any filter, since it might clog up something beyond that point that isn't supposed to be icky.  I would give a coffee filter a whirl, though :)  Good idea!

Joyce, why do you need to do the pest inspection?  We had to pay and have it done, for our peace of mind only, as buyers, but the sellers didn't have any obligation.  We really didn't have to do it either, and it was kind of a waste of $60 IMO since it's only a **visual** inspection -- I can do that!  And, not like the inspector would ignore creepy crawlies that he saw in his travels doing the rest of the inspection.

Today is just an odd day.  It doesn't feel like Tuesday cuz we spent the **entire** weekend dealing with the giant hole in the floor that had somehow rotted out, and I just don't want to work.  Not to mention, all my coworkers are going out after work, but I'm broke (fixing unexpected holes in the floor is a bit pricey!)(and my coworkers have more expendable income so they tend to go to fancy places), and I hate going but not getting anything... not to mention, we have one car, so if DH heads home first, then I'm bumming a ride.  Which usually isn't a problem, except I really don't want to stay out all night but I can't make anyone else leave early just to take me home.  If DH comes with, Sammy will be home an entire workday plus however long we're out afterwards.  Sigh.  How do normal people handle it?  I'm clearly not one of them.

On a brighter note, we're dog-sitting this weekend so Sammy will have a friend to play with!  I think Bud looks like a rhodesian ridgeback/chow, but he's from a shelter and I think they claimed he was a mix of 4 breeds or something, and they all seemed off.  I'll have to get some pictures of the puppers!
