    How long does it take you . . . . . .(Deb W.)

to get ready to leave for work or wherever else you might be heading??  On a normal day it takes me 45 minutes from the alarm going off to me going out the door.  This includes showering (hair and makeup), ironing clothes, making lunch, and letting Jamison out, giving him water, food, smoochies, etc.

I was just wondering because there was this woman on Rachel Ray who spent like 3 hours getting ready (the same amount my daughter spends).  Couldn't you get a whole new face in 3 hours??

45 minutes to an hour here generally, 90 minutes if I get ambitious and take the dogs on a walk before leaving.  If I didn't have the dogs to take care of, it'd take me 30 minutes. :)  I'm very low maintenance and really can't imagine spending 3 hours getting ready, but in college I knew a number of people who were at the 90 mins to 2 hour mark - they shower, do lots of makeup, try on like 2 or 3 outfits, style their hair just right, etc.

Depends...on if I dry my hair or not. In the summer I tend to leave with it damp (takes forever and a day to dry) I just roll the windows down and it is dry by the time I get to the office.

So..summer. 30 min and that is getting up, letting the dog out, feeding the cats and dog, feeding the rabbit, taking a shower, teeth, dressing, lunch and out.

Winter 45 min to an hour. Drying the hair.

I get up at 5am and leave the house at 7.  The time is spent watering plants, playing with the dogs and feeding them, treadmill and breakfast.  To actually get myself ready to leave maybe 20 minutes and that includes the shower.  I'm a low maintenance type woman when it comes to hair, makeup and clothes. lol

umm..I guess I will have to use going "out" because I don't work and when we go shopping etc it's not like I do anything special. To go out meaning straightening my hair, doing full makeup and picking something to wear as well as showering...probably 1hr. That's from ugly duckling...to swan.

    Anything else? 10-30mins depending.

I get up at 6 and am usually ready by 7:30.  If I can't decide what to wear, then I may drag my feet until the last minute.  But at 6 I feed the cats, usually dawdle by reading or watering plants, then pick out my clothes and iron, shower, blow-dry my bangs, fill bird bath & feeder, then I'm off.  If I bike to work, it takes me 10 minutes to get here, about 5 minutes if I drive because of all the stoplights.

When I had a dog, I was up daily at 5:00a, walked for an hour, then came back and proceeded with the above routine.

Going to work where I have to be fancy - roughly 40 minutes. I put out my clothes the night before, make my lunch the night before, shower and dry my hair the night before, and wear very minimal makeup. Get up, feed Rascal, make sure my hair is looking passable, coverup on any blemishes, maybe a bit of lipgloss and eye shadow, jump in my clothes, take Rascal outside to potty, put him in his crate and get him all set up with a toy and a small bowl of water, gather my things (make sure I have all my materials, ID badge, etc.), and out the door. Occasionally a small bite of breakfast, usually eaten on the run (commute to work).

Going to work where I don't have to be fancy (going in to the office, not running participants) - probably 20 minutes. Same dog routine, only no attention paid to the hair, no makeup, no stuff to gather, and throw on whatever clothes are handy and clean.

I dont work either so I will have to do the going out option.

It depends on what I am going to do. Headed to the laundry mat? I let the dogs out, feed them, let them out again, throw on some clothes, make sure Samantha is clean and leave. 30 mintues usually.

Going to get groceries. I do this on Friday nights. Samantha and I take a shower and we're out the door in 45 minutes. I stop a few places and eat before going to get groceries.

Never takes me more than an hour to get ready. And I have a kid!

20 minutes if I don't have to feed the dogs, 40 if I do (I cook the food but David feeds them weekday mornings).  And that's not considering the time I spend every weekend putting up the meds in compartments so we just dump the meds into food and stir.  LOL

The older I get the longer it takes my body to function *sigh* so sometimes I feel like I'm waiting on myself.  I'm mega low maintenance tho (some might say I look like it LOL).  But as soon as I roll over and turn off that alarm I'm on my feet and moving.

Husband is NOT that way.  His alarm starts to ring at 5 and he pries himself out of bed at 5:30 (alarms ringing every 5 minutes which I muffle with a pillow over myhead or *I* am ratty LOL) or sometimes 6 -- and then it takes him 90 minutes because he's so sleepy he doesn't move fast and has to take time to come fully awake.

We DO NOT do mornings together.  If I sat around like he does I'd be asleep -- give me that last precious minutes TO sleep and then I'll get up and zoom.  He wants time to wake up -- I want that 'time" ASLEEP LOL.

When going to work, I wake up at 6:30 and am out the door by 7:45. Takes me 10 mins to get to work. My routine is: feed Lily, let Lily out to potty, back in for shower, do hair, makeup, get dressed (easy because I wear scrubs), search for a pair of socks and put on my sneakers. If I don't have time to make coffee (i.e. Lily takes too long finding a good spot to poop) then I grab one at Tim Hortons on my way to work. I usually eat breakfast at work.

When going to class, I wake up around 7:00, feed Lily, let her out, sometimes make breakfast, get my books and things together or finish any homework or study for a test I have. I don't have class until 11:00 though, so I have plenty of time to do whatever. It takes me about 30 mins to get to school.

Takes me an hour but I spend 20 min's or more watching the news. I'm not high maintenance, but I do shower (wash hair, shave legs, etc.) every day. I wear some make-up but not a lot and I do have to blow dry my hair. I used to spend a ton of time picking out something to wear but not with this job. I sure don't miss that drama :)

Going to work where I don't have to be fancy

    Yay for non-fancyshmancy workplaces !!!!

When I worked in the WTC we had to dress up everyday.  Now that I'm in a field office, it's very casual.  Plus, I don't think the cranked-up prisoners, who are screaming from their cells that they will pull their own eyeballs out if they don't get a drink in the next 5 minutes, care one iota on whether or not I put my lip gloss on that morning.

I can remember taking hours to get ready ... I think I was about 12/13 and just figuring out how to put lipstick on straight. Big Smile Now I can be out the door within 40/45 minutes off rolling out of bed ... and that's shower, hair, make-up - everything.

I get up between 6:30 and 7:00, and leave at 8:00. Now that I think about this, it's a little ridiculous. I spend all that time letting the dogs out 3 times, feeding them, showering, and putting on some jeans and tennis shoes. Seriously? AND THE DOGS GO TO WORK. They don't even have to potty that many times!

Some days, I hate my body. This realization might be one of those days, LOL.

    • Gold Top Dog

lol, my idea of getting ready now adays is a brief 5 minute shower where I am hopeful my 2 year old is enraptured enough with the show "word world" that those 5 minutes are in peaceful blissful calgon take me away harmony! lol

But even before motherhood I could not even fathom getting up any earlier than possible. I love my sleep too much. 45 minutes is about what I used to do. I neither blow dry my hair(let it dry since its curly) nor bother with makeup.
