    Mindless chatter Friday

    Good morning all.

Cathy, I hope you are feeling less nervous.  After 10 days in the hospital, my recovery time was supposed to be 2-3 weeks with lifting restrictions, but, that was almost 30 years ago.  I know that sis was running a couple days after her surgery, because Mom was really concerned and upset.  However, both surgeries were done vaginally and you aren't able to have that so we really are talking apples and peaches!  One tiny word of advise?  Take all the pampering you can get!

Gosh, I got up at my usual time, threw on clothes and realized, I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO OUTSIDE!  Getting the gardens cleaned out has been my driving focus since we moved in.....get up and out before it's too hot to work, and now????  Well, shoot.  Will have to come up with another project.  But, today, I might just go out on the porch and read.

Don't know what our weekend plans are.....rather, I don't know when or if the engineer is going to show, and therefore we can't make weekend plans.  Getting stuff done is way more important than lolling on the beach, but it would be nice to know up front what we can or can't do....just to be able to make plans.  Unfortunately, not the way it works.  Sigh.

Gosh. I gotta go figure out something to DO....not having a project is gonna drive me nuts!

    Good morning.

So I have the day off. So far I have gone and signed the beast in at the vets, checked my garden, cleaned my bathroom and stove, have to finish dusting, mop 2 floors and wait for the vets office to call.

Don't get to comfortable Glenda, I will be sending you work sometime next week. Wink

    No rest for the wicked...

My mom always gave me Jello in liquid form when I was sick.  Mix the power with pedialyte.  It will keep her hydrated and generally kids love the taste!

Thank you Glenda. I feel great this morning. I hope to enjoy getting pampered but asking for help is difficult for me, so that'll be a challenge. I'll have to be careful not to expect DH to read my mind Wink

No gardening today? You could come help me. I have a few containers that are just crying out for something new to be planted in them.

I'm off today and Stanley Steamer is supposed to be here between 8 and 10. I'm hoping they show up at 8. I'm having them clean the tile in the kitchen and master bathroom. We put porcelain tile on the floor in the master bathroom and it's a light color and has tons of little grooves and ridges. Short of getting down on my hands and knees with a scrub brush, I can't get it really clean. Knowing what I know now, I'd never have put that kind of tile in...but live and learn, right?

    Ladies, be warned............

    TICK WARNING!

I hate it when people forward bogus warnings, and I have even done it myself a couple times unintentionally.. but this one is real, and it's important. So please send this warning to everyone on your e-mail list.

This is the time of year to think of ticks once again.

If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up, DO NOT DO  IT!! THIS IS A SCAM!!
They only want to see you naked.

I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid.

Jackie - LOL, thanks for the warning.

Do you have deer in your yard?

    Big Smile  very cute!

Those are some big deer prints. Must be fed well ;)

I'm leaving for camping tonight...weeeee!!!!! I have so much to do: get an oil change, fill the gas tank, laundry, pack, etc.

both foster dogs are gone for now. Last night was so relaxing with just my 3 dogs. I forgot how easy 3 dogs were. Scarlet has a new foster home all together. I need to call and check to see how she is doing.

Sunshine is a different story. As her personality is coming out, she is a super guard dog mixed with fear. Not a good combo. She has already nipped (and broke skin) a couple people who have entered my yard or put their hand through my car window. This is not good. If it's your own personal dog, that's fine. But to adopt a dog out that has major bite potential just can't be done. So, I have to seriously start working with her on this. Poor girl. She is so sweet. She's just afraid of new people and new things. I'm afraid she is going to bite a kid that comes up to pet her :(

    7 days to Yellowstone!

Yellowstone? As in the park? Cool, was there a couple of times as a teenager, I loved it.

Those eaten plants made me cry.

The ticks are heavy here too, so thanks for the email warning.......Wink

Do you have deer in your yard?

No, we don't have many deer in our immediate area.  We live in a subdivision but it's surrounded by farm land/pasture more than anything else.  The deer concentrate more in the Northern parts of our city.  I do see deer on occasion but they are few and far between. They have lost their habitat and been overhunted by the farmers.  Whitetail deer are the scourge of some neighborhoods and some people go to great lengths to keep them out while other people feed them.  We have plenty of other wildlife around us, mostly wild hogs, javelina, wild turkeys, coyotes and foxes.  Raccoons and opossums too.

Very funny, Jackie!  Also, what are javelina?

My eyelid is still red and puffy, but doesn't seem to hurt as much as it did yesterday.

Karen, that is a bummer about your garden.

Cathy, I hope your tile gets sparkly clean and you get to enjoy the rest of  your day off.

Julie, that's a drag about Sunshine.  Hopefully she will come around 'cuz I know what it means if she doesn't. Sad

I sent out my swap package today and checked the box on swap-bot!  Hopefully my partner doesn't think it's too dorky.  I'll be crushed. Crying

Fortunately I did manage to get my a/p stuff entered yesterday, so I can run checks and keep the thugs at bay for a few more days.

I saw in Thursday's chat about all the stuff Amanda's hubby did to help her out yesterday.  I wondered if he has a brother w/ similar qualities?

I am one foster less also Julie! It's a relief too. Mandy the GP is now at one of JJ's friend's goat farm. She was stressing me out big time. She broke my kennel door to go after Kujo. She was fine with the big dogs but apparently does not like little dogs or cats. I couldnt let Kujo out unless I had a hold of Mandy. Couldnt put her in the kennel since she broke the door and JJ ran over my tie out with the riding mower so I couldnt tie her up. Now to find Holly a home. I have gotten her leashed trained now so she's good to go!

    Also, what are javelina?

Proper name is collared peccary.  Small (30-40lbs) pig like animals.  They are found in dry, brush country and this is the first year we have seen so many in our area.  They are interesting animals but not good to eat like pigs.  Take my word on that...

Karen, can you put an electric fence around the top of the wooden fence to keep the herd out?

Tina, I'm glad I don't have to send the thugs after you.  Go get some chocolate for your reward. :)  And don't feel bad about feeling like a dork on your swap stuff.  I felt the exact same way yesterday when I was packing mine to send, which will happen today. It's the thought that counts, right?
