12 week u/s: major prayers needed

    • Gold Top Dog

Emily, I'll keep you and the baby in my thoughts and prayers.

My friend received similar news last year early in her pregnancy, and they had a heartbreaking waiting period until a diagnosis was made, which was Down Syndrome.  We were all profoundly affected by the news, but their faith and strength was incredible.  Their daughter arrived last December, and she's brought the most amazing joy to their family.  We adore her, too.

I wish you strength and peace, no matter what is ahead for you and your family.  I can't imagine what you're going through.  Take care.

All our best thoughts for continued strength.  This last year has taught me that God is always there, in our best times and our most difficult.  My prayers will also include that you, your DH, and all your family member who love and support you will have strength - so if one feels less strong, the others are there to hold you up.  Much love.  (((HUGS)))

I'll pray for you and the little baby. I'm so sorry this is happening, but I do believe too in the power of God and I'll send you all my good vibes for you and your family.

My prayers are with you for sure.

My "little" brother (now 30!) is a special needs kid. He was a real blessing, and also a real challenge (I am ten years older than him, so had a lot to do with his raising for eight years until I left for college, and after that I worked with Special Olympics, and as an aid in non-mainstream classes). Most of all though, he is "just a kid." By that I don't mean any less than anyone else, but just as much as anyone else, if that makes sense.

He's autistic, so the joys are a bit few and far between. Definitely not the case with a Downs kid! What amazing people. I am hard pressed to view Downs syndrome as a "mistake." I don't recall the other conditions you mentioned - I mean, in connection with anyone I worked with personally.

I just wanted to share that. I know it's not a huge comfort when you are dealing with the upset of your dreams of a healthy child, but I'm sure you know that God's got something special planned no matter what happens - and He's got you, your husband, AND your baby in His hand.

Definitely sending good thoughts and prayers to you during this time.
