Mindless chatter Thursday

Awww, that was a sweet offer.  I'm not good with centimeters, but the comparison helps.  Maybe it's like comparing a pea to a golf ball?

You'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, for sure.

I have my pre-op on Tues and he might order bloodwork and stuff t

Yes, you'll have blood drawn, give a urine sample, and if you're over 35 have an EKG done.  Also having undergone about six foot surgeries, I would set up "shop" near a really comfy easy chair or something.  My back den has an easy chair and a couch for when I wanted to lay down.  I got one of those clear plastic storage boxes and packed it up with travel sized items such as baby wipes, deoderant, powder, some make up, you know all kinds of personal care products, plus books, nail polish, my knitting, or whatever hobbies you might be into, etc.  This way everything is handy within your reach without you having to move around too much or calling somebody else to get you everything you need which gets really old really quickly for the "callee".  Also keep some water bottles and snacks in one of those mini coolers for during the day if you're going to be home by yourself.  Just a few pointers that I found helpful after all my surgeries.

I had the EKG last Monday. The pre-op is at the my gyn's office but I guess he could send me over to the hospital for labwork. When I had my thyroid surgery 2 yrs ago they didn't have me do anything other than the EKG. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I couldn't ask for a better set-up at home. We have our new sleep # bed with the adjustable frame, so I can raise the head and/or foot, plus it has massage action Yes...altho I may not feel like using that for awhile. There's a big screen TV in there and remotes for everything, including the ceiling fan. Master bathroom shower is huge and has a tiled sitting area, so that'll help a lot in the first few days. The bedroom has a slider that opens out to the backyard and pool, so that'll help with the cabin fever. I'm really very lucky and would be looking forward to this time off if it just weren't for the dang surgery Wink

I know how you feel  . . . I'm always wishing for more time away from work  . . .  . . . until you get sidelined and then you wind up counting the days until you go back. LOL

Not to be nosy....but, well.....if they do the surgery vaginally, you will have a much faster recovery time simply because they aren't cutting through abdominal muscles.  When I had mine, many moons ago, they were just starting to do it that way, and the recovery time was really fast.

My sister had hers done about 10 years later and was the first patient to have it done as a day surgery.  She was back to running 2 days later......

Now who the heck has been talking and telling folks that I'm not a kick back and take it easy kinda gal??
Gosh darn I thought I kept that hidden!

No worries Glenda - we're all friends here and can ask and share away Big Smile. I can't have it vaginally or laprascopically for 2 reasons. One is that the cyst is too large to remove that way and 2) there's still a concern that it could be cancerous. So, they can't macerate it (I think that's what it's called) and take a chance of spreading cancer cells and they also need to have a full on visual of everything. Not to dispute your story about your sister, cause everyone's different, but even when it's done vaginally, most women are out 4-6 weeks. I'm told that there's approximately 100 sutures used internally. On the forum I've joined, there are many women who are suffering, and some even needing repair surgeries, because they tried to do too much - too soon. I'm going to be a good girl so I can get back to my routine but fully healed. Remind me I said that in the weeks ahead, k?

Tina - I'm not either, so I had no clue when the dr. first told me the size. I said can you show me with your fist? 1 inch = 2.54 cm, so figure they're each about 4 inch by 4 inch by 4 inch. I guess that'd be several golf balls Stick out tongue

Corky heh?  Well gosh...what can I say about my incredible snuggling duck?

She got really, REALLY ticked last night because she didn't get to go out for her swim.  It was storming.  She didn't care.  So, after giving us holy heck and telling us off royally  "how DARE you come into the livingroom and SIT down?????  I haven't had my swim yet!!"  she turned her back on us, put her rump right against the crate door and shot out a load!  Loose stuff too!  I would have been seriously annoyed if it hadn't been so danged funny!!

Apparently she thinks that the dogs are supposed to pay homage to her, especially Shadow and Tyler.  They MUST come say hello to her when they first enter the room or she will NOT shut up until they do.  And both of those guys will rub noses/beaks with her.  Pretty cute!

She's started doing her "big duck" thing with the flapping wings, not only out of the water, but in it too.  Still trying to catch her mid-flap with the camera.  Pretty impressive sight.  And, she prefers to swim after dark when the bugs are better.  That's what she says anyway.......and when playtime is over, she still snuggles right up and stretches her neck to put her head on our shoulders.  If I were willing to risk a lap full of duck poop and could totally trust the dogs not to be dogs, she'd happily sit on my lap all evening.

But, she still is incredibly messy.......

Glenda, I am so thankful that I did not have to clean up that mess!  Ick!

Cathy, I'll keep fingers and paws crossed that everything goes smoothly for you.  So - yesterday I had one of my two yearly check-ups/tune-ups on the AC/heater unit.  There was a small gas leak and the guy tightened everything up but couldn't locate or stop the leak.  Called PG&E and spent a couple of hours waiting for them to come out.  They found what was leaking but they only do repairs on their own equipment, so they turned the entire unit off and I had to call the original guy back for a fix. While the PG&E guy was here he decided to check all the other gas appliances which were fine, but to check  the hot water heater he had to turn it off .... and it seems he forgot to turn it back on again. Angry I didn't realize that until I had to take a rather chilly shower this morning.  Oh well, at least it's July and not January and I did turn it back on later.

Cathy, I hope your surgery goes well and you aren't too nervous!

DH and Rooopert are finally home. They've been gone for two weeks, out to WA and CO to visit friends/family and do a lot of biking. I didn't post about it because I was home alone with Willa and I'm paranoid about that kind of stuff! Anyway, he wasn't supposed to be back until today or tomorrow. Last night I was getting Willa out of the bath. I got her all dried off and lotioned up. She won't lay on the bathroom floor/rug to get diapered, so I carry her to her changing table. I had already closed up all the curtains and had the lights out throughout the house so it would be more dark/nighty-night time-ish for Willa. So I opened up the bathroom door and was charged by this flailing, wiggling, flopping, zooming beast in the dark. I totally SCREAMED!! It scared the. heck. out of me. DH came up the stairs behind Rupert aka the beast. Willa screamed, too. It was terrifying and hilarious at the same time! Then once she realized who it was, she was really excited. She pushed DH aside so she could get a better view of Rupert. LOL

OMG - Janice, how did you survive 2 whole weeks without Rupert???
