What would you do: DH's friend

Ron, darling - will you marry me?!!!?????????????? Stick out tongue

I'm just reading this now, and I'm sure you got ALOT of great advice, but this definitely made me think of one of my DH's good friends when we started dating. He NEVER liked me, and I think it all stemmed from the first year we were dating, DH (my boyfriend at the time) choose himself to stay here and celebrate my birthday with me instead of drive to Boston with the guys. Funny because he never sat down and talked to me or even attempted to get to know me. Usually when DH would hang out with him I wouldn't go, if I could avoid being around him I would, plus guys just like to hang out sometimes with the guys. But there were always the times when everyone got together, and I pretty much just ignored him. Thankfully, DH finally realized he wasn't a very good friend anyway (for other reasons) and hasn't talked to him in a few years.

The last thing I would do is give him free time with hubby (unless DH wanted boy time).

That's another thing; DH doesn't want boy time! When we visit his family and friend(s) everyone goes out together (to a bar/restraunt or cook out or house party). Everyone usually brings their wifes/gf's. I hate to be left about because of one person, you know? And I get along very well with all his other hometown friends (and their wifes/gf's). It'd be different if they were going fishing or something (where wifes/gf's weren't going), or if DH didn't want me to go, but he does.

I would say that if your DH wants you there, you should go, act like a lady at all times, but don't accept any rude or disrespectful treatment.  If someone does treat you badly, you can simply state what you do not like, beginning with "I don't appreciate......." and leave it at that.  Presumably, even if your DH likes this dude, he wouldn't allow him to dis you after you have been nothing but polite and the guy did something jerky.

I honestly don't even know if he does anymore. The friend is clinging onto DH....and, from what DH has been hearing through other friends, the friend has crossed the line w/ many other people so they don't hang out w/ him anymore. DH also heard this friend has been abusing prescription pain drugs and DH wants nothing to do w/ that mess.
