Mindless Chatter Tuesday

Oh California weather!  I shall live vicariously through you guys.  Although I will be in the Bay Area next week for work.  Of course, I never get a chance to do anything.  I literally leave the hotel at 6am to be at the office by 6:15 then leave at 5pmish or so to go crash.  I do try to squeeze in dinner with a good friend of mine who I only get to see when I travel there.  She doesn't travel here any more.

We have had such intense heat and drought it is sad.  It reached 102 degrees on Sunday.  And, that wasn't even a "feels like" number.  It literally was just too dangerous to be outside for any length of time.

The rain finally slowed down enough for Bruder to uncross his legs and go out and pee.  Boy did he.  LOL.  He must have stood there for 5 minutes.  LOL  OK, I'm sure I exxagerate, but goodness.  After we all came back in I noticed he went back out to poop.  Guess he wanted to do that in privacy.  Little did he know I could see him.  Big Smile

Is hanging a child up by her toes considered abuse?!  I am seriously ready to string her up somewhere!  We will be leaving for the beach early Saturday morning and my mom will be arriving shortly after to care for my zoo until I get back.  Well, I worked for 3 hours on this house yesterday, trying to get everything cleaned so my mom can come into a clean house.  Well, I am still pretty sun burned and I am in a great deal of pain (red hair and pale skin!) so I kicked back on the couch WITH Madison and I guess I dozed off for a minute because I woke up and smelt something.  I followed the smell and ended up in my bathroom to find Madison...  She had my rabbit on the sink, soaking wet and covered in baby powder.  I take Pinto in a towel and dry him off and put him back in his cage.  Then I see Sprout (Maddy's cat) come out of my bedroom.  The cat is white with powder (he's a solid black cat) so I get him and try to get as much powder off of him as I can.  My bathroom is COVERED with powder and I am so ill right now.  I don't know what to do with this girl.  She has gotten a spanking for dumping powder out everywhere once before.  What should I do?  I told her she will be going to bed early tonight with no t.v.  Any ideas?!!

Maybe put the powder waaaay up high and in a secret place that Madison can't find it?

Can you not let her go to the beach? If so that's what I would do.

Why do some people have to be such downers?  I was complaining about our current situation.  DH was offered a job that he doesn't really want, mainly because the benefits are unacceptable and we can't have a baby (the salary is fine).  On the other hand, he is in the running for a much better job somewhere else, which would require us to move.  Job A needs an answer by Friday.  Job B (the favored one) is dragging their feet because they did all their interviews and then decided to restructure their HR team so nothing is going through HR at the moment even though the people who did DH's interview have chosen him, but it's not a done deal until HR approves.  So I'm totally stressed out, DH is stressed out because he doesn't know whether to assume he has Job B, or to accept Job A and then have to decline? But then other people are like "Well at least he got more than one offer, you should consider yourself lucky."  OMG shut up.  If only they knew what he's had to do to GET these offers!  It's not like he's apply for two pizza joints a few blocks away, we are talking a career that involves us moving somewhere we've never even been.

Why is there absolutely NOTHING on TV but the MJ funeral??

Tell me about it. Big Smile Usually only the death of a president still in office garners this kind of coverage. Barbara, the weather in the Bay Area should be gorgeous.  It's always cooler and breezier (almost always) than here in the valley and hopefully the fog won't roll in on you.

Deb, I sent you a pm.  Really.

    OMG shut up.

That says it in a nutshell...tell these downers that they don't have a clue.  I don't blame you for being stressed.  I say wait until the very last minute on Friday to give Job A hiring manager their answer.  Its only Tuesday, perhaps by then...Job B will be ready.  Or at least your DH may have a better idea if Job B will come through.  Tell him to stay in close contact with the Job B hiring manager to get a feel for the reality of the role.

I hear you about it not being a done deal until HR makes the official approval, but it sounds like its a matter of process.  If he can hold on a while longer, it may be well worth it...stress and all.

Keeping all fingers, paws and claws crossed for you guys!

Thanks Barb.  That comment was just the last straw for me.  I live in Michigan - worst economy, worst housing market, highest unemployment.  No need to preach at me about how hard it is to find a job.

Fingers crossed for you, Liesje! [insert chosen sappy cliche about optimism, opportunity, and fortune!]

Liesje - I'm sorry you and your husband are in this situation. I can't imagine what I'd do. I hope something happens that makes the decision easier and I hope it works out for the best for you both.

Call me a total sap, but I had the MJ funeral on here and had fight back tears several times. When his daughter spoke at the end and started to cry, that was about the end for me. I'm so over-the-top emotional these days, it doesn't take much to make me a puddle of tears Sad
