Mindless chatter Sunday

Enjoy nature is such a pleasure! Yesterday DH and I went to feed some horses that are living next to the dog park and our place. They are so sweet and gentle. First time I got close, Thor almost died (those big dogs are going to kill my mom!), but today I decided to walk very close with Thor to their fence and Thor touched his nose with one of the horses (so nice). With Thor is always like that: try it, you never know if you will like it, unless you try it.

Yesterday we took some carrots for the horses and we gave some to the gophers... awww... they had a blast. Do you think gophers would like peanuts? I'm going to check online.

Enjoy the rest of the day everyone, life is good!

I'm glad to hear this for your DH but it's too bad that any firefighters have to lose their jobs.

Me too. I feel guilty being happy about DH when I know some of the other guys and their families and I know how rough this is going to be for them. They have a layoff relief fund that those who aren't laid off will contibute 5% per pay period to and it is supposed to provide approximately the same amount they were taking home. Still, these guys (and girls) do this job because they love it and sitting home won't be easy for them.

I'm thirsty - what kind of adult beverages are we having Jackie? ;)

It's blazing hot here too. I did a little shopping and just going from the store to the car felt like the sun was searing my skin. I d find a few things to buy, so at least it was a productive trip.

Maybe we can find enough to share with everyone?  I need a stiff few drinks. I am sick of the neighbors letting their dogs run loose.  Upsetting our dogs, pooping and peeing on our lawn, etc.  One even had the audacity to pee right in Henry's face.  There is no animal control here, and everyone knows these dogs are always loose.  I've threatened to pick them up and bring them to a rescue/shelter over an hour away, just to force the owners to go get them that far away.  (It's a no-kill, no harm to the dogs.)  I'm so sick of them.  There are at least 9 dogs I can identify in this tiny neighborhood who roam free.  Many are intact males, and that really pisses me off.

Maybe one day I will collect them all as they roam past my house, then bring all of them over to the police station in one fell swoop and say "um, hello!  You have a problem." and hand them all over.

Meanwhile, a drink would be nice. Useful, in fact.  Buzzed lawn-mowing sounds like a good idea.  (Don't worry, there's plenty of safety features to keep me from harm. lol)

Whew! Canaka, I literally said, 'WHEW!!' out loud when I read that your DH's job is safe.

    Margarita here, please.

Plenty for all, found a nice, big bottle lurking in the pantry.  I'd be ticked off at the neighbors too, morons abound.  Paige, don't mow the lawn with a buzz on, that sounds like an Emergency Room show I saw once.  Not pretty.  That reminds me, a friend of mine cut the crap out of her thumb and index finger sharpening a knife.  She really did some damage and will be seeing a hand specialist on Monday.  The ER doc's said they see that type of injury often.  I cut my knuckles once washing a glass, the ER doc who stitched me up said that's a common one too.  I think we should all have men to do these potentially dangerous activities while we drink margaritas.  Salt?

Jackie - any ideas where I can find a man who will mow the lawn AND do the dishes? I actually like doing both, but getting a worthwhile guy to do things for others would be great.

(Man, I am bitter/bratty today. lol)  Don't worry, I won't mow buzzed.  Only because after I mow the lawn, I need to drive to Lowes to get stuff to work on the house.  NO drinking and driving, for sure!!!

Would that be a MUI? Mowing while intoxicated? LOL.

BF won't go for a run with me and it's too hot, I can't motivate myself, so I'm googling dog jogging strollers. I want to start bringing Pi with me : )

But, I don't DO that stuff.  I'm a major type A personality and always on the go.  First Corky got me to slow down and enjoy watching her play in her pool, and now this??  It's really cool, but it's so not me!

I am ALMOST finished weeding the first flower bed.  Got

But Glenda -- we all get wiser as we get .... more **mature**!!!  This is just you getting wiser!!

No, I found mine at a dance club thirty five years ago. lol    You could always hire a lawn guy and con him into doing dishes when he finishes the lawn work.  Pay him with margaritas and a dazzling smile. Big Smile  Or cash has always been my fallback choice if that doesn't work. lol  You'll find your lawn/dish boy someday, he could be up at Lowe's right this minute.....

I found mine online -- but we talked for ages before we 'met' (back 13 years ago in the bad old days before Facebook and origanization) -- but I was able to weed out all the crap before I met him!  "love me?  Love my DOGS" ... neither one of us "do" sports, we have things in COMMON but he's almost a work-aholic.  He doesn't mow lawns but he works his tush off so we can PAY to have it done!!  I have no problem with a man who isn't 'handy' as long as he doesn't have a problem paying to hire it done!  If I'd have had to meet a guy the "normal" way I'd have stayed single!! forever! lol

Man, that's right at the top of my pet peeve list too and we live in a freaking gated community!!! I probably need to write the HOA about the dog across the street. They just open their garage door in the morning and their male lab hangs outside most of the day and wanders over to our yard when he wants to do his business. That of course makes every other dog that comes along want to pee/poop in the same place. We also have a lot of people who actually walk their dogs up to our lawn to do their business. Angry

One time I decided to go prune my roses in the evening after a couple glasses of wine. I wasn't paying attention and cut a huge gash in my finger (thru a glove). I was more embarassed than hurt by the whole thing and I don't pick up sharp tools if I've been drinking these days.

DH emailed me last night to say that he got word that he's above the cutoff for layoffs and he should report to work next weekend. Whew!!!!! Everyone is hugely ticked off at how the union has handled things.

Congrats!  You guys must be breathing a major sigh of relief. The unions will never admit to screwing things up.  Their egos are too big.  But when the serial arsonists come out from behind their rocks or the idiots that throw cigarette butts out of their car windows get on the road, they're going to wish they had those 30 firefighters back. Weather Bug says it's 106 *sigh* and my favorite floor fan picked this morning to die.  I was dreading having to drive 10 miles to Super Wally for a new one, but the paper said that Rite Aid was having a sale so I went there instead ... and since Rite Aid is right across the street from World Market I did some "swap" shopping. I need to force myself to go outside pretty soon and do some poop scooping in the heat - I can't let it go another day because the trash gets picked up tomorrow. I think I'm going to pull a bottle of Two Buck Chuck out of hiding and put it in the freezer.  I'll sip some over ice when I'm watching Army Wives. Smile
