Mindless Chatter Saturday

My parents are here again this weekend. We are in the process of venting the kitchen fan outside (we put a new one in in the winter, so it's just been re-circulating until now). Then we are going to build a wall around the aquariums so they will be a display :) oh and I have to finish painting the guest room.

I should probably get off of the computer. I also need to make sandwiches for lunch.

Baby shower at 2 and I haven't even gotten a present! Its been in the 90s all week, which is way to hot and then today its only going to be 66. Fine by me. I have to look good at this shower because a friend from high school will be there. She lives in Seattle and is very trendy. I should go tanning right now. I bought this killer outfit last week and wish I could wear it, but its a tank top and I don't want to be cold. So I think I'll go casual and cute. You can never be too cute, rght?

    That's Tootsie's line!  LOL

Meg, I'm so glad to hear that you had a nourishing and healthy breakfast of mini marshmallows. Surprise But it's healthier than burning down the house making pancakes. LOL

The farmer's market was great, as usual.  I guess I will eventually stop gushing about it every week but it's still such a thrill, I can't get over it.  We got fresh, sweet corn.  Drool.  Pumpkin bread, french bread, squash, peaches, cucumbers and pecans.  It is already getting hot out but there is a nice breeze and it's not bad in the shade.  I need to clean house and then we are going to pick up some lumber or something for some project DH has planned.  He'll probably want to start it in the heat of the day but I will be busy napping. lol

I love farmer's markets and there are about 15 of them in a 20 mile radius, almost 1 for every little patch of town.

I spent my morning in the garden planting those precious veggie plants. I now have in:

2 types of tomato's, 3 types of onions, 4 types of peppers, 2 types of lettuce, bok choi, watermelon, cabbage, pumpkin, zucchini, 2 types of peas, 4 types of beans, eggplant, gourds, basil, sage and mint. I still have to plant my corn, cantaloupe, cucumbers, summer squash, winter squash, leeks, radishes and god knows what ever else I have in seeds.

Yes, I am crazy! And a little sun burnt, and tired, but I feel great.

I should be going to the farmers market. Ours is during the week though and I always forget.

I am making some progress on the house cleaning front, although it doesn't really look it. Everything is dusted and the laundry is half done. Shoes and dog leashes/collars are put away and I can actually see my kitchen table! (it's usually a dumping ground for stuff I don't feel like putting away)

Yum. I bought two small basil plants too and there really is nothing better than a baguette sliced, toasted and topped with homegrown tomatoes and basil.

Yum indeed!!!  That's one of my faves but I add slices of fresh mozzarella and a drizzle of olive oil. Big Smile  I think our weird stormy thunder/lightening is over and it's going to be nice from now on.  Apparently southern CA got zapped with the same kind of stuff because two women died from being struck by lightening (one who was outside got struck in the neck and another one was driving and lightening struck a pine tree that fell on her car).  There's an elderly woman in Sacramento in the hospital because lightening struck her umbrella. I'm glad I just stayed inside until it was over.

Cathy, there's a bed called the temper-pedic (sp) that looks pretty good.  It's kind of pricey depending on the size you want but according to the ads they'll bring it to your house and store the old one, give you 30 days to try it and if you're not happy with it, they'll come back and get it and set up your original one again. Might be worth checking with them.  There's nothing worse than trying to sleep on an uncomfortable bed.

I'd heard too many comments about that being very, very hot. It has to do with the memory foam retaining body heat. We did go and buy the Mazerrati of beds today though. They gave us a $1600 credit on the Beautyrest and we put it towards the Sleep Number bed. It's the top of the line and we got it with the adjustable frame. It's crazy but we fell in love. It's kind of like the Craftmatic, so you can raise the head and/or feet plus it's got a massage feature all operated from a remote control (just what we needed - another remote control). Anyway, because DH weighs almost 2x what I do, I didn't see how anything other than a sleep number was going to work for both of us. It's supposed to be delivered sometime this afternoon, so we're excited about it. We have 100 days to keep it or have them pick it up and get something else and this time we're going to pay close attention and only keep it if we love it.

I went to Wally World and Superstore this afternoon to pick up a few things.

Then DH and I went boat shopping. Big Smile I'm SO excited to get a boat, I can't wait! It should be tons of fun and it'll be awesome to see how the dogs like it. I know the Goldens will love it, for sure. We are hoping to buy one by the end of the month, when my parents come visiting for 2 weeks and just in time for summer.

Yesterday, I got myself a brand spankin new phone. I *love* it. DH's plan was up, so I gave him my phone (LG Rumor) and bought myself a pink BlackBerry Curve. That's how it works, right? -snicker- It's so awesome! Now I'll be able to post here when I'm at work, hehe.

I've not read any previous posts so I hope all is well

Busy day but good well until about an hour ago when I found out that one of the people that brings their dog to play with Bugsy (the older Westie) passed away.  She had stomach cancer yrs ago and apparently it just came back and bam, less than a month.

She was full of life, retiring this month, totally looking forward to life and had a tremendous positive spirit and loved to watch B play.  I suppose I've known her since he was a pup and although we never did other things I felt really close to her and admired her.  I have been crying since I found out.  The unfairness of it all.  Seems that too often people that really love life die too soon.  sigh it just hurts

Productive day here!  Nikon had CGC class this morning and he did SO good!  He was heeling better than both my other dogs.  Since he has a show on June 20 he is taking the test next week, a week early.  The 3 minute leave will be the questionable part!

I cleaned the van, went tanning, went to the pet store and got a free 30# bag of dog food, and got back on the elliptical.  The house is already clean since it was shown last night while we were at the park.

*hugs* Karen, I'm sorry for your loss.

Karen - I'm very sorry about your friend. It does seem so unfair at times. I just found out that someone I know has stomach cancer too. Very sad indeed. ((((HUGS))))

Lies, isn't tanning so relaxing? Baby shower was awesome! My BFF from high school were inseparable, just like old times. Her mom even remarked that we might as well be in high school again. Why is it that girls feel the need to potty together? Really enjoyable day. I feel great!

Karen, sorry about your friend, life is cruel sometimes.

We grilled some chicken and some fresh corn on the cob for dinner.  We just finished making some pecan pralines.  We barely have time to take the dogs for a quick walk before dark.

Very!  I don't go often but I wanted to nap.  I usually go leading up to weekend dog shows so when I'm out in the sun all day I don't get fried.

    • Gold Top Dog

I usually go tanning after work, so I can nap. When they ask if I want the stand-up, I laugh and tell them I want to nap.
