Meaningless POLL: Laundry folding

DH does almost as much laundry as I do but he likes to get a big bang for his buck, so he stuffs the washer too full.

The boys do that too.  I've never been able to convince the oldest one that clothes will dry faster in two smaller loads than they will if he crams everything into one load.

They'll also get cleaner with more room to move around in the washer...just lower the water level so it doesn't take as long to fill up...

I leave a big towel in the dryer too.  It dries my clothes much faster.

Exactly and that's my main reason for keeping the loads reasonable. It doesn't help that DH often comes home and talks about how they had to transport some really sick or grungy people on his shift. I'd use bleach and hot water if it wouldn't ruin his clothes.

When our laundromat still had washers and dryers, people used to cram as many clothes into a washer as they could and then leave.  The washers would unbalance and we'd go to check on them and they'd be so crammed full the couldn't even agitate even when they weren't unbalanced.  Those would inevitably be the people that would complain that our washers didn't work properly.  The other thing we had people do was put one quarter in the dryers at a time and check their clothes after each quarter.  Honestly, people, it takes just about a whole quarters worth of time just to heat those big gas dryers up!  And then you go, let all the heat out checking each sock and t-shirt to see if its dry and start it back up.  Those people complained when it took $4 to dry a load of clothes.  Well Stupid, if you had just put 2 bucks in in the first place and left the thing alone....

Now that's funny!  There's a laundromat near me that I've used when either the washer or dryer died and I think the last time I was there I got about 6 minutes for a quarter.  It wouldn't even occur to me to check the clothes if they'd been in the dryer for less than an hour. If they do dry faster, it's not like you're going to get your quarters back, so yeah ... just bring a book, put in at least $2 then sit down and relax and read for awhile.
