I didn't name Indy- his breeder did, but the litter theme was Harrison Ford movies. Even if he HADN'T known his name (I got him at nearly 5 months), well, I don't think I could have changed it- it just fits him too well. I really don't like his registered name but meh. Who cares.
Wings was named because she had a white splash on her shoulders- you couldn't see it very well and I never did get a photo of it. It was sort of wing-shaped, but.. yeah. She wasn't a well-planned puppy, I didn't have any idea what I wanted to name her, but I was walking around with her at a friend's dog training center after picking her up from the breeder, and someone asked me what her name was, and well, it just came out of my mouth. She responded to it from that very first time- I maintain she picked her own name.
Mal is named after Malcolm Reynolds, from the (defunct, sadly) TV series Firefly, which is ... well, it's a sci-fi with sort of a westernish feel to it- it's great. His show name, Big Damn Hero is from a quote from the show. His litter theme was science fiction- his sister is Pebbles (kennelname) Pebble In the Sky, from an Asimov short story.
