    Mindless chatter, moanday.....

Although, today could be the day that changes my opinion of Mondays.  Fingers crossed and hoping!

Corky is still hanging in there.  She's improving, I think.  As far at least as her purposeful movements and although she still does circles in the cart, she's taking some purposeful steps in a straight line.  I think that I was told off in "duck" this morning.  I've been taking her water out at night, as suggested, and when I put it back in this morning, I got some chatter and she went straight to the water, hopped in and sat down.  LOL!  I guess she wanted a midnight swim and I took that away from her!  For heavens sakes guys, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH A DUCK?????  I mean, NOW she's tiny and doesn't take up much space, but she's gonna get BIG eventually.........

Here's something disguisting......the breeders, or whatever you call them, ship DAY OLD HATCHLINGS!  Ducks, chicks, whatever, they ship them at ONE DAY OLD, and they use the US Postal Service.  The birds aren't delivered, but sit in the post office until someone from the feed store comes to collect them.  That's just so very wrong.  And then of course these tiny critters are put in big old feed troughs in the stores so little kids can manhandle them........

On the dog front, I'm very impressed with how good they are being around the duckling.  They are curious about the sounds, but no one has done any serious sniffing, which is pretty great.  Theo of course, chewed up another dog bed while I was talking on the phone to my Mom this morning.  What IS it about kids when mom is on the phone???  And Shadow felt the need to pull each and every toy and each and every bone out of the toy box before he found the exact one he wanted, only to abandon it less than a minute later.

It's raining here still, pretty hard.  Kind of a neat sound to wake up to, the rain falling on the roof.  Certainly nicer than the horrendous gas someone (not sure if someone was human or canine) was sharing.  EWWWWW!  I just mentally plugged my nose and focused on the soothing sounds of the rain!  But, but, BUT!!!  It's supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow!!!  Come ON!  Almost the end of April and we're gonna get more SNOW??????  Mother Nature is a cruel and evil being!

Goooo Corky! And Glenda you have Corky, cause Corky needed you, and maybe you needed Corky...either way I see a beautiful relationship!

I got the steal of the week yesturday at the grocery store. I bought 10 btls of acai juice, 10 pkgs of veggie dogs, 11 pkgs of veggie brown crumbles, 8pks of veggie chicken stips, 3 veggie sausage, 2 veggie brats and 4 veggie peperoni...that is 48 pieces for......$33 dollars. I was stoked, that is enough meat alone to last my hubby and I a month. With my regular shopping both human and pet I spent $110. I won't have to shop again until Derby.

They are predicting 80's here by the weekend, good thing Derby festivites start Saturday and go on for the next 8 days. I am so tired of the rain, I have been unable to get into the garden yet to turn it over and get it ready. At this rate I will not have anything in the ground until  May 9th or 10th. I am bummed. Glenda, I was on my way to a meeting last night and swear I heard on the local radio station that not only are we supposed to get snow, the northern areas of the listening area might get up to 7 inches!  I'm about 2 hours southeast of your location towards the middle of the state, so be prepared!

My son came home this weekend to celebrate my birthday.  He made me a very nice picture collage with several pictures of Bear and one of each of my cats - I love it!

Went to the shelter to walk dogs yesterday.  A couple of the other volunteers are trying to encourage me to get another dog.  I will, in my time, though I don't want to feel pushed into adopting because a dog's time is running out over there.  I know the realities and I'd take them all if I could...

My eyes are excessively itchy today from being around so many cats at the shelter yesterday.  Even if I don't handle them, the hair and dander get to me - then I go home to my two and the irritation continues.  Ugh.

You know, that's all I could think to say when my son was telling me that I'm f'ing insane......she needed me.

I know the rain is tough to deal with, but......did you miss the part about we're supposed to get SNOWED on again??  I mean yeah, this is NW Michigan, but this winter, it actually HAS lasted a full SIX MONTHS!!  Doesn't leave much time for the OTHER 3 seasons.  So.......rain??  Bring it on, but PLEASE send the snow someplace else????

I feel for you on the snow part. Will it make you feel better if I tell you Wednesday morning is suppose to start in the mid 30's?

And as for special relationships between animals and humans I am reminded of my gran. She had a goose that was the devil incarnate to anyone but my gran, family was tolerated, strangers were fair game but I tell you that goose loved my grandmother with a passion. Was the best yard guardian ever. My gran and that bird had conversations, guiet silent moments and great walks.

Heck, now I want a goose!

Truley, I need to go grocery shopping with you!

Glenda, we have fingers & paws for you today!

The dogs started eating llama yesterday.  Someone, Bevo or Shooter, had horrible gas this morning.

My best friend passed away yesterday.  Even though I knew it was going to happen, I am devastated.

I'm so sorry about your friend, Amanda.

The boys are being loud again, it's very hard to concentrate, I may need to boot them out into the garden.   DH rang to tell me about his interesting day at work, every time I think about it I start laughing.  I'd better control that before he gets home LOL.

EEP Glenda! Snow? They aren't even forcasting snow up here where I live.  FH was skiing this weekend though.....skiing at the end of April in Ontario...thats one for the record books! He had a blast and he even managed to find a new bike, so he bought it. He now has a new downhill bike! He is excited to get back into mountain biking. He is going to buy a pass for our local (well semi-local, its still an hour away) mountain bike park.

We are enjoying some rain today, but that's okay - we planted some raspberry bushes and rubarb plants yesterday afternoon and they needed the rain.

I've managed to convince myself that since winter has lasted so long that means that summer is going to last until October.

It looks like it is going to be a lovely week here.  Some rain in tomorrow's forecast, but after that, all sunny and high 70s the rest of the week!  We had some rain last night, and this morning I look out in my back yard and there is soooo much more grass than there was yesterday.  It is really starting to just shoot up all over the place.  I hope it continues...the faster it grows, the more we can let the boys play out there.  I let them out in the yard for a while each evening last week, but couldn't yesterday because it was just too wet.  They would have ripped up any grass that was growing.  They just love going out in their newly fenced yard so much!

BF was out of town all weekend, so it was just me and the boys.  They were very dirty on Saturday after playing in the yard.  They found the ONE spot with no straw and all dirt to wrestle around in, lol.  So, they both got a bath Saturday night.  I hadn't given Sammy a bath yet since we got him (he got his first bath with us at the vet), so I wasn't sure how he'd be.  He was wonderful!  He just stood in the tub the entire time and didn't try to climb out once.  I scrubbed him like crazy because he's shedding soooo much right now.  I've been brushing him every day and am totally amazed at how much undercoat I'm getting out.  He doesn't appear to have so much hair until you brush it out.  I can only describe it as how it looks when a horse is shedding its winter coat.  Just tons of hair coming out with every stroke.  But he is looking a lot sleeker, so I think there may be an end in sight to all this shedding....

ETA - Amanda, I'm so sorry about your friend. (((hugs!)))

Amanda, I'm so sorry about your friend.  Hugs and comfort to you.

I got back from Phoenix yesterday and I am tired and dragging today.  I had a great time and will post some pictures when I have a chance to sort through them all.  The botanical gardens were outstanding and the train ride thru the Verde canyon was great.  We spent a little time in Sedona and all I can say is, wow.  The weather was fantastic the entire time.  I was worried that it would be cold but it was only at night and the days were outstandingly perfect!    My dogs were very happy to see me, especially Twister.  I missed them too but my sister's dogs helped me get a doggie fix.  I hate trips where I don't get to have any dog interaction, I am truly a dog addict. :)

Glenda, I have raised a few clutches of mallards back in the day and they are quite an experience. LOL  Try raising a dozen at a time.
