We have trouble getting enough dogs together for two stinking points....2009 AKC Point Schedule was just posted and the @*#$&(@#*& count for Wisconsin went UP!!  Can you believe that?!

The same thing happened in Belgians! Guess we got together too many majors last year for AKC's liking, so the numbers went up. I'm quite disenchanted with conformation showing and I'm debating about what to do after I finish my two "so close" dogs. UKC for Belgians is a great venue - they are judged as they are in Europe with written critiques and show ratings, are always judged by breeder-judges and are registered and shown as one breed with four varities (which is what they are everywhere accept in AKC).

Do judges split points in your breed/area still? I have heard that AKC has been discourging judges from splitting points and it sure seems that way to me.

If I told them I wanted to do AKC performance I'd probably be ok, but if I mentioned conformation I am 99% sure they would never respond to my inquiries again.  For one of their dogs to do well in a show ring here would be an insult.  It's too bad really... P a s k a Salztalblick could have done well here in everything I think

I wouldn't know really. I know there are working breeders in the US who wouldn't mind you showing one of their dogs in conformation.

Yeah I don't think most working line breeders give a $*** either way about AKC conformation.  If they objected, it would probably be because they want the dog in SchH and being "worked".  But I don't think you couldn't do both, as long as the dog was doing sport as well.  Ring training doesn't really interfere with other stuff and the additional titles aren't a bad thing.

They sure do in the competitive breeds like the GSDs and Collies!  I've seen it done in GSPs as well.

I'm hoping they'll keep up the splits to award two deserving dogs...without splitting and crossovers we're all up **** creek.
