Mindless chatter monday

back to the grindstone after a nice week in a sub-tropical locale..... sigh....

Barbara, I love the fields with the Indian Paintbrush mixed in too!  Great pic's and that dawg probably never noticed your hat was crookedy.  :)

It just all depends on where the rains fell this past winter, as that's when the seeds need moisture to germinate.  For those who don't know, the bluebonnet is our state flower.  LadyBird Johnson was a huge wildflower "nut" and she was behind the state planting miles and miles of our highways with wildflowers.  It's illegal to pick them but they would have to jail thousands of Texas children if they enforced that law!  It is funny to see cars pulled off the road and whole families out frolicing in the flowers.  We've done it ourselves many times!

Yes, illegal to pick them...and I always think about that when I see people walking out in the fields finding that perfect spot to take pictures.  Many many wildflowers getting stepped on in the process.  Just don't pick'em.  LOL

we had the same deal with California Poppies when I lived there. IMO the boo-bonnits (my kids callem that) are much prettier!

Jackie, have you been to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center?  It's GREAT!

I really want pics of the dogs in the bluebonnets, but, so far, all of the patches are right off the highways.  I know that I can off leash 2-3 at a time, & have them stay without worry.  The thought of all 5 off leash next to a busy highway has me a little apprehensive.  They have moments when a random zoomie must be ran, & nothing that I say will stop it...

Dang this weather!  Rainy from Wednesday - Saturday, then yesterday it was sunny, but cooler (58ish) and windy.  Today, while I'm stuck at work...sunny and 70 degrees.  ARGH!

And all that rain put our backyard project on hold.  The landscapers are waiting it out today to give my mudpit of a back yard more drying time, then coming out tomorrow to put in 3-4 more dumptruck loads of fill dirt and complete the grading.  Then hopefully Wednesday they can install the fence, and Thursday put down the new grass seed.  Of course, once the fence is up I'm gonna be itching to let the boys run around out there, but we need to hold off on that until the new seed starts growing.  I think they'd be okay to go out there to potty, but running around playing would totally mess up the seed.  I just hope we get a lot of warm, wet weather after the seed goes down so it'll grow fast and we can let the boys enjoy their yard, finally!

On the upside...my Tar Heels are in the Final Four!!!!!!  GOOOOO HEELS!!!  Man, they looked good yesterday, I hope they play that well on Saturday (and, hopefully, next Monday too!).

My head hurts so bad.  And there's this fluorescent light right above my head.  I think I'm going home at 2:30 b/c I seriously have to cover my eyes and can't look at this screen anymore...

Thank you so much for the lovely pictures I lived in Texas when I was younger and always loved the blue bonnets.

Stop talking about flowers blooming! It's barely above freezing here today. Sad

DH & I *almost* bought a small RV this weekend. He found it on craigslist. Super good deal. $3,250, '87 Travelmaster 21' RV, low miles, kitchen, bathroom, sleeps 6. We drove 4 hours, one way, to check it out. It was leaking antifreeze and a bit more beat up than we had hoped (one of the seatbelts was wrapped in duct tape Hmm ) I was so bummed.

We're taking a 3-week family (dh, me, bean & roo) vacation to Washington, Yellowstone & Colorado this summer. I really want to find a small RV so Willa doesn't have to be in her carseat for a bazillion hours straight every day. I know, she should be in her carseat all the time, but in an RV I'd let her get out and stretch a lot more frequently than if we were in my car.

I'm still looking for a job. I can't hardly talk to my former co-workers. I think they're running scared. A few others and I were laid off because they don't have enough work coming up and they have to maintain a manhour budget on the big school. Seriously, I wish them good luck near the end of the job and they change the subject or have another call. One of those cases of if they don't see it, it can't bother them.

Ron, I hope something comes your way soon.  Amanda, I have been to the Wildflower Center and it's fantastic.  OK, no more talk of flowers until you guys up North get some of your own.

I hate to say this, but it might be a LONG dry spell before you can talk about flowers then.  When you still have snow on the ground when it's this close to April, well, it's going to take some time before the flowers have a snowballs chance in hades of even poking their little heads out of the still frozen ground.  Sigh.

Had a really nice lunch with DH and Mom.  Just the 3 of us, so her b'day is getting stretched out a lot.  I think she's rather enjoying that!  Shoot, at 85 she's entitled to all the stretching out she wants!

Hey, I like the term "birthday week"  why try and cram it all in one day?  Party!!!  Happy Birthday week to your Mom.

I am getting nothing done, I keep going over to smooch and play with Lumos.  That is all.

If I had your beautiful pup or mine for that matter here at work I would not get anything done either. LOL
