Mindless chatter, weekend edition

I found the slicker brush!  I keep seeing this beautiful silver husky walking around town and his owners obviously groom her with a slicker cause she's fluffy and soft looking.  Crusher only gets that look when I use the slicker on him.  I normally don't bother with it cause it only brushes the outside of his fur and since his fur is pretty long and terribly thick right now, I use a moulting rake on him for the most part.  But now I'm gonna start finishing him off with the slicker cause he's prettier than that silver when he's got the fluff going on.

Candace I am still trying to get over -30*

Kate what did you get???  Inquiring minds want to know

I overdid things yesterday and today I feel worse (cold) again and my foot/leg hurts worse so been chilling out.  Just did a little cleaning and DH went to the supermarket

Bugsy started thyroid meds yesterday and I don't know he seems 'hank marvin' (for not Brits = starving) and extra devilish.  May just seem that way because I am sick and its a rainy day

Talked to my friend with the sick boxer pup and the breeder was useless, just awful, sigh.  So she'll take him on March 16th for the tests to see how bad his heart is.  Poor guy.

Ooh just looked out the window and the tree I can see is FULL of robins.  There must be 50 of them easily.  If I felt better I would get my camera and take a pic.

A Pentax Optio A40, and I am loving it.  Definitely not a replacement for a DSLR but a really nice little compact.

With the exception of the kitchen, this entire "house" is carpeted, so I am pleased if someone hits a RUG that can be easily be picked up, shaken out in the woods and then dumped in the washer.

I did a bird imitation today.  I was coming out of Subway with my tater soup, thinking how tickled I was that htey had it TWO Saturdays in a row when suddenly I found myself airborn.  The landing was not so graceful, flat on my back, landing on the small of my back FIRST.  I've got aches and pains in places I didn't know I had places.  But, they did replace my broken soup for free.  I almost cried seeing all that lovely soup all over that icey parking lot.

When Sassy started thyroid meds she was ravenous too and extremely alert, almost hyper. I actually took her back and had them check her levels a little early cause I was sure it was too high of a dose. It wasn't though. She'd been so hypothyroid prior to the meds that the difference was alarming. She settled down after several weeks.

Glenda - I can promise you that if I lived anywhere that had icey paths, I'd be on my rear end allllll the time. I'm so ungraceful it isn't funny. Just the thought of it makes me want to grab the sides of the chair Big Smile

Thanks for the info Cathy.  LOL he never got lethargic so adding some energy to an energetic dog and throwing in a rainy day might be what is happening.  His T4 numbers weren't below normal they were at the low end of normal but some other number was waaaaaaay positive so I'm curious to see how this plays out.

There are even more robins in our yard now - DH says its hundreds.  Think we have grubs in the lawn? Stick out tongue Eat 'em up birdies, just leave the worms.

As I was typing it, I was thinking "man, if Bugsy got amped up as much as Sassy did...wow, that would be really scary".  Even when Sassy was normalized on the meds, she's never been as energetic as Bugsy.

Ha ha ha he's run zoomies in the house several times today, 107lbs running full tilt inside on hardwood floors up and down stairs etc is quite something.  And when DH came home from the food store he was galloping up and down the hallway and nearly tackled DH as he entered. Oy!

Owie Glenda!  Take some painkillers and keep taking them, its gonna hurt more tomorrow...at least it did when I did almost the same thing but in front of my own house...

    • Gold Top Dog

Ow, Glenda, that's gonna' leave a mark, as someone once said.  Hope you aren't too sore tomorrow.

Kate we can't wait for all the pic's of the new addition with any camera handy!  happy for you with your new point and shoot.

Karen, my dog Magic was on thyroid meds for many years and she didn't act hungrier than any Lab always does. lol  She was so high energy, I never noticed any difference there either.

Cathy and Joyce if you guys have any extra rain, send it this way.  We now say, "I'm going outside to water the dirt". Yikes it is dry here.

Our shopping trip was a success.  I found three pairs of jeans and three bras.  Also some cute tops on sale.  DH got what he needed and we didn't have a single sharp word, surprising after our rocky start today. LOL

We ate lunch late, so probably not much in the way of dinner tonight.  Have a good evening, everyone!

Hah!  Fat chance that we'll get any "extra" as they  keep telling us this is one of the worst drought years in a long, long time. Some of the cities around Sacramento have already put residents on a mandatory 20% water reduction in lieu of some heavy fines.  I'm sure Davis will be doing the same thing soon, so I'm not going to make an effort to cut  back until the mandate comes down. I'm afraid if I do it now and they call for a 20% reduction later, they'll want 20% less than I've already cut back to. Sad At that point I'll have DS cut the sprinklers back to 2 or 3 times a week.  I already take pretty short showers, run the dishwasher only two or three times a week and wash pretty small loads of clothes. The top colored layer of gunite is peeling off the bottom of the pool and even though it's not in any way a health or safety hazard, it looks weird - sort of like chipped nail polish.  A drought is a good reason not to do anything about it since it would mean draining out 25,000 gal. of water and then replacing it.  That and the fact that it would cost between $10/$12,000 to have it done. Sad

Today turned out to be pretty nice. It was very sunny and I was just soaking it up! It was still cold of course, but you could feel the warmth on the sun. Spring is near!

I took the dogs to msu ag site and ran in to a lady with 2 aussies who are neikos brothers. All 5 aussies had a ball getting as muddy as possible. They even went swimming and by the time we lest their fur was frosty mud. Great for the house, let me tell you!
    • Gold Top Dog

Yeah, Ron, that's about it, but man the landing was anything but EASY.  I only managed to roll over and get up on my knees when a lady stopped to see if I was ALIVE!  LOL!

I have a nice muscle relaxer, skellaxin, which doesn't go through the CNS so doesn't stone me out, and I've got a fresh RX of pain meds, so using those too.  Guess I can't have my evening glass a wine tonite.  WAAAAAA!

I did go in and get checked.  The back side of me is turning lovely colors, I've got a literal goose egg on my left forearm, and somehow I managed to bruise my ribs....IN THE FRONT.  But, nothing is broken, cracked or torn, so guess I should count myself lucky.

What is really, really annoying is that I normally wear a dress boot to work...with a small heel.  Today I wore "real" boots, not girly boots, and I still fell like a rock.  Sigh.

it must be the weekend of diarrhea. Aesop woke me at 4, barking to go out. He had diarrhea, but thankfully it was just the one time and he slept the rest of the night. My fault, really. I picked up their Taste of the Wild yesterday, but the feed store doesn't carry Solid Gold dog food..just cats. He has to have some sort of food with a grain mixed with his food or he gets loose stools. I would have picked up a bag of Wellness, which he also likes..although he likes Solid Gold more, but they didn't have a small bag..only huge ones. I didn't have time to run to Petco, so thought one day without grains would be fine..obviously notStick out tongue
