    Mindless chatter, weekend edition

Whoa!  No wonder I didn't get too warm in bed and have to strip last night.  It's five BELOW!  Holy SPIT!

I'm thinking it's not the raw chicken, but rather the chicken breast treats that I got the dogs last week.  Had a coupon for buy one get one free and they HAD the treats, one bag of them the day the squirts started.  The front of the bag touts that it's an American company.....buried in the back in tiny print is "made in China".  Crap.  Supposedly nothing BUT chicken breasts...kind of a jerky...but the unopened bag is going back today.  That's my own fault.  I should have read more carefully.

And, the thing is, I wouldn't have even thought of it if I hadn't used the oven last night.  Anyone who has ever been in a motor home knows that the kitchens are not all that huge.  Storage space is somewhat limited, even though we have a fair amount in this one.  So, since we rarely use the oven, since it's small, my skillets and the dog treats tend to live in there.   When I went to put stuff back in the oven I remembered that they'd had the chicken jerky and started looking for anything in IT that might have been an issue, and then saw those three dreaded words.....

They shared a BIG can of pumpkin last night with dinner and someone still left a puddle on the rug this morning.  Thankfully it was on the rug, but still, liquid poop isn't much fun to deal with first thing in the morning.  Especially when it's still hot and aromatic!  Yech!  Almost went back to bed!

And now I'm off to work.  Have a great day everyone!

I'm barely awake right now. Lily woke me up at least 5 x last night. I really need to get that dog door installed. When I finally did get up, I noticed my back gate was open hmmm. Either I was sleep walking and opened it myself or someone tried to get in to my garage. Nothing was gone though and I had locked my car.

Today I'm just going to relax, get some laundry done and maybe take the dogs for a hike.

Sigh, I just played Saturday's edition of 'keep your freaking dog on a leash'. Joke's on them, I called the police dept and reported it.

I have a ton of homework to catch up on, but I got my tax refund yesterday and my pockets are burning. Shopping, homework...shopping, homework...hmmm.

I stayed up too late and woke up too early, so I'm already looking forward to a nap later on. I need to go buy some groceries and do some cleaning, but I'm hoping to relax most of the day.

Glenda, I don't buy any of those chicken breast jerky treats anymore, even though they were very popular with my dogs.  The brand I was buying sold the exact same product at two different retailers here.  The packages sold at Petsmart (more expensive) were labeled made in USA, the packages (identical in size, etc.) sold at my local grocery store, were labeled made in China.  When I called, a woman said yes some are from China and some from the USA.  When I asked her about where they were packaged and how they kept them separated, she said SHE makes sure the right ones go in the right package.  Huh, the woman who answers the phones is also the quality control person?  After a little more questioning, I told her I would not be buying the product due to the high probability of a mixup.  The brand was Smokehouse.  Maybe the ones labeled made in the USA are fine but I don't want to take a chance.

The morning didn't start well.  I slept till 6:30, which is like sleeping very late for me.  DH was already awake.  I asked him if he let the dogs out to do their business.  His answer was no.  I said, why not?  He said, they didn't ask!  When I pointed out that they had been holding their bladders etc. all night and even longer than normal and didn't he think they just might need to go potty, he responded, "don't yell at me". WTH! I did not yell, it was said in a normal tone of voice, perhaps with a slightly irritated tone but it could not be mistaken for yelling, unless you have a guilty conscience and feel on the defensive.  Shopping together may not be a good idea unless our moods improve.

It is very windy and cooler today.  Yesterday it was 90!  Rollercoaster weather is the norm this time of year in our part of the world.  I'm now going to start house cleaning and hope that makes me feel better.

edited to correct the spelling of the word conscience, it kept niggling at my brain and I just couldn't leave it.

I don't buy the chicken jerky treats, either. Well, Pirate can't have chicken, so it's kind of a moot point. But I wouldn't buy them if he could.

I just bought a new camera to replace the point-and-shoot I lost ages ago.  I love my DSLR and need it for work but decided that since I'm soon going to be walking (and wanting to photograph) 2 dogs, I want something that can go in my pocket instead of having to carry around, well, luggage LOL.  Hopefully I'll love it, I found great reviews of it and got a good deal.  Can't wait for the battery to charge so I can test it!

Glenda, I did the same thing with the chicken treats from PM...got home and realized they were made in China.  I'm thinking about getting a dehydrator to make my own now.

LOL - my husband will react the same way. Strange, huh?

I have a headache. I think it might be from drinking too much wine while chatting on the phone for about 2 hours with my best friend last night.

It's supposed to be fairly nice today but then we have a "big" storm coming in tonight. I hope the forecasters haven't over estimated this one. We need it badly.

Bwahaha!  If my dogs so much as thought about asking to go out before 6:30 am, they'd likely be laughed at...maybe if one had a touchy stomach but other than that...

We just ran out of chicken jerky.  When Tyler left the case of chicken out overnight, I turned all the left over bits into jerky, just plain in the toaster oven.  But the dogs loved them and I knew they were ok.  Oh...and why is "on the carpet" better?  What is the alternative?  I'd rather clean up things like that off the tile...

Kelci is napping right now.  Kali is watching Diego.  Kale is at his Grandma's still(its a Friday night thing) and I'm free to be on the computer for a few minutes.  Yay!  I feel somewhat productive today.  I've already changed the allergy cover and sheets and washed Kale's blanket from his bed.  That's hard to do too cause he's got a loft bed and I have to hoist the mattress down and then back up each time I want to do that.  I also cleaned my bathroom and vacuumed the livingroom.  Plus both girls are dressed, not that we have plans today, but it did allow me to turn the heat down a notch.  Its icy cold out today, -30 with the windchill so we are NOT going outside.  Its supposed to warm up tomorrrow though and for the rest of the week.  Yay!

    Have a great weekend everyone!

Well I've decided my new little point-and-shoot is a very nifty little piece of kit.  I'm still getting to grips with its quirks but my two favourite features so far (they were selling points for me) are the ability to add an audio tag to a photo and a function which fine-tunes the settings based on the colour of the animal you're taking a pic of.  Both VERY handy for dog events, especially being able to label a photo with a clip of me saying what breed it is.  The optics aren't *amazing* but I didn't need them to be, I just needed it to fit in my pocket LOL.  I'm a happy camper today.

My dogs too!  They know not to ask and on the weekends if I sleep in until 11 they will wait for me.  If the can't and start fidgeting then I know to get up they have to go but before 9 they wouldn't even think of it.  Big Smile

I got in late last night from Milwaukee had a good time there we went out to place called Mo's Irish Pub it was a hoot.  I am taking my son and granddaughter to the local childrens theater today to see a play, they just love them.   And my DH is doing food shopping for me and we need everything!!  He is a great shopper and dosen't mind.  He's friend is over and he is going too so two carts, mega food and lots of $$$ - but we need it.  Since I am leaving I won't ever have to put it away - yay!

Maze waits until she hears my alarm go off at 9am every morning, then she'll stand by my head and stare....Once she hears me move, she'll dance and bounce and wake up Sandy. Lol. Before 9, unless it's an emergency, they wait.

Today I'm working with Maze. I've been neglecting our alone time while trying to get Sandy's training going. So today is just us.  And tomorrow if the snow melts enough, I'm gonna talk to my trainer and see if I can get Maze into obedience class on Sundays and Agility on Wednesdays. Sandy needs a bit of a break right now. She's been going strong (training wise) since the day I brought her home.

I just got to the point where I take every weather report with a grain of salt (and hopefully a margarita). It's supposed to be a wet week, but I'll believe it when I see it.  On the up side Stick out tongue I discovered I have a roof garden I didn't even know about.  Yes ... there are dandelions growing in and hanging over the edge of my gutters. DS #2 is out there now on a ladder mucking them out. I guess I should look into getting some mesh gutter covers.
