Mindless chatter, weekend edition

LOL Amanda!  I feel your pain. It's really tough when they can't get their normal routine and they are driving you insane.  How are you feeling, BTW?

Does anyone else have a dog that must, just MUST, jump on the bed and act like a goof while you're changing sheets?

Yes!  Sometimes I'm tempted to just pull the bottom sheet on right over him.

Amber, we have a cat who plays on the bed when I'm trying to change the sheets.  I put him off the bed & he hops right back on as if we are playing a game.

Jackie, I am feeling a little better today.  It doesn't hurt nearly as much to breathe today as it has been.  Today I can get my fever to break by taking Tylenol.  That wasn't the case before.

Amanda, I am glad to hear you are feeling better.  Take it easy and take care of yourself.  You DON'T want to end up in the hospital b/c of this crud!

  • 2 jars spicy pasta sauce
  • 3 cans crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes

Candace, I think you could make a good soup with those veggies and add some shrimp to it and maybe even a little of the spagetti if you break it a few times or rice.  That would take care of half of that stuff!  And you can make spagetti with the noodles and spicy sauce and diced/crushed tomatoes.  With the beans you could bake a bean soup with some chicken added or even chili.  I have a chili recipe that I make with whole black and kidney beans.  With the ham you could use that as a meat then serve baked beans and one of the veggies with it.  Artichokes are great in soup but also good drained then sprinkled with a little cheese (I usually use mozarella or parmessan) and red pepper flakes and baked as a veggie.   Maybe you could make some french toast with the bread for breakfast one morning, or cinnamon toast or something like that.  Mushroom soup is always good for casseroles which you could make with noodles, meat and some veggies and bake.  Just some ideas.

Izzy always plays in the sheets when I change the bed too.  Her favorite though is every morning when hubby wakes up, she rubs all around on his pillows.  I guess she is trying to get his sweat on her.  It is hysterical to me!

Hubby is making some delicious tbones!  I can't wait!  And I have sweet potatoes in the oven and will make some spinach to go along with it.

OK.  I've completely lost it.  After a foot or so of snow the last couple days, we had a few hours of no snow.  So, I washed the car, cleaned the frozen crap out of the wheel wells, and danged if it didn't start snowing AGAIN.  I went outside, stomped my feet, shook my fist at the sky and hollered "knock it OFF.  Quit with this s_it!!  Then noticed the neighbor in the driveway laughing her butt off at me.Embarrassed

Had to go down to the County Jail yet again and put money on M's account so he can buy stuff like shampoo and butts.  Of course, they are in NO hurry to "wait" on the folks there.  Hey, I'm not a criminal and I don't even especially LIKE the criminal, so please don't treat me like one.  But, I did find out that I don't have to "visit" to get the next check endorsed.

Hey Joyce I keep meaning to tell you that Bugsy loves his kong treat ball - it is still alive, missing a few chunks but he really likes it.  And I finally dug into those teeny treats and those are huge hit too.  I don't give him many treats that's why we are just hitting into them.  They are awesome training treats.

I'm glad he likes them!!  Trader Joes has some neat treats too ... little tiny ones about the size of a dime, great for putting a handful in your pocket.  I think they're Charlie Bears. I need to find a few reasons to drive into Sacramento so I can make a stop there.

They just opened a Trader Joe's here and I checked it out today.  I bought Willow some treats that are shaped like fire hydrants and couches and some of her other favorite things.

DH and I went to see STOMP tonight. . .it was so great.

I love Trader'Joe's and those Charlie Bear treats are a training staple - thank goodness they are beef liver based.  They are however no match for those teeny people treats he LOVES them Big Smile

Another favorite from TJ's is the fresh pizza dough it is so easy and yummy and 99 cents!

We had a scare a little while ago.  The dogs have been in idiot mode all day, so I broke down & gave everyone bones this evening.  Everyone was chewing contently when I heard a bone crack.  I tell everyone to "drop it" & go to do inspections to make sure that there wasn't a problem.  I was halfway down the line, when Shooter fell over & turned blue.  I squished his ribcage, & he coughed a little but started breathing again.  I could feel the bone in the back of his throat but I couldn't get it out.  I broke down & gave him a mixture of milk & peroxide.  Within five minutes, I had the piece of rib bone back.  Shooter seems no worse for wear.  From now on, he can have knuckle bones like the big dogs.

All this time, I thought that the scariest thing that happens with the dogs are those moments when Bevo goes careening off like a fool in slippery footing.  Now, I can honestly say that Shooter choking is about 10 times scarier.  I may call the little monster all kinds of 'loving' names, but I really love that little dog.

Holy poop Amanda!  Shooter I am very glad you are OK and that your mom is such a quick thinker!  Great work Amanda.  And from how you describe him I am not surprised he is AOK.

Holy cow!!! My friend's dog did this once, with a fish head (she feeds prey model). I am glad Shooter survived to tell his tale to the other guys. I wonder if he has any more 'street cred' now :)

I'm just not in a posting mood, sorry all.

Oh my good lord!  That is scary, but so glad you are a responsible momma who only gives bones supervised... if you hadn't been home!  Good reminder to all of us that dogs and bones should always be supervised.  So glad Shooter is ok!
