I read last night that you should put your down comforter in the dryer for 10-15 min's and run it on high heat to kill dust mites. Well, I had to cram the thing in there and I don't think much of the heat even got to the inner parts. I'm guessing they didn't mean a king size comforter in an average size dryer Confused

The freezer works better at killing dustmites.  Once a week I toss as many stuffies as I can into the freezer for a day or so(sometimes I forget about them).  You could toss your comforter in there in the morning and get it out at night.

Found the greatest brainbuster for the Beast.  The potato masher.  Full of potato.  I always hate washing the stupid thing with potato left on it cause floaty things in the water gross me out.  So this way, no floaties and the beast laid on the kitchen floor for a good 20 minutes working on each little bit of potato in all the little crevices.  I suppose that means I'll have to get another masher so I can give each of the dogs one next time.  Onyx seemed mildly put out, but only a little since I gave her the pot...

I've got "Better" from Chinese Democracy by Guns n Roses stuck in my head. I can't quit listening to the cd. To me, it's as good as Appetite for Destruction and that's saying a lot.

But my favorite on the album is "Street of Dreams."

I'm a crazy fool for harmony and melody. And yes, that's Mr. Rose playing piano.

And you get to hear his best voice.

DH would surely think I'd gone right over the edge if I did that but besides that, I'd need to remove every single item in the freezer to fit it in. As it is, I need a shoe horn to put a bag of veggies in. I am hoping for a small chest freezer soon though, so before I put anything else in it, I'll put my comforter in there. Thanks for the tip :)

I managed to get outside and do some leaf cleanup, pick some Camellias and wash a couple of windows that get drooled on regularly. I've had dinner, am now enjoying a glass of wine and have a DVR full of my faves like Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, and Criminal Minds - yay!

Julie, I was almost in tears before I read down to see that it wasn't Bobbi.  I can't believe how attached I've grown to some of the dogs here.

Karen, even though your leg feels better with the boot, don't over do it.  I wore one after my achilles surgery & I overused it.  Everything was great while I had the boot on, but as soon as I took it off, I was in serious pain.  Hopefully, you'll heal quickly.

Jackie, tell your friend congratulations from me.  RE is a big accomplishment.  I'm so jealous that you got to see a few dobes, and thanks for the compliment on my boy.  He's nowhere near perfect, but he's perfect in my eyes.

We have a yard fence again!!!  I'm thrilled that the dogs can go out on their own again.  I slept most of the day, & I'm still tired.  I feel like a bum.

I'm wondering if I can just go in and ask them to have him endorse the next check without waiting to actually SEE him.  Or waiting until next Saturday to do it.  What a pain in the ***.

Glenda, among my weird assortment of strange and useless talents, I'm proud to be able to list excellent forgery skills.  I'll be glad to teach you. Big Smile

LOL!  Joyce.  That's really tempting but I'm not so sure I want to do that on a STATE unemployment check!  Plus since he signed this one over to ME, it had to go into MY account, so not real sure that I want to risk him deciding he's ticked about something and cause me problems. Right now M thinks that I'm wonderful and that I'm the only one talking any sense into C.  Man, if only he knew!  Being a member of the been there done that bought the tshirt club, the ONLY thing I'm doing is making sure that the kids get a chance to see their daddy.  NOT that daddy gets a chance to see them.  I'm coming at this strictly from the best interests of the kids, but he doesn't think thats the case.  So, for now, I walk on water and we'll just leave it that way!

I am not happy with the kids this morning.  Thunder barfed bile all over the couch, Theo shredded yet another dog bed and someone, identify unknown, peed on the kitchen rug.  Theo raided the bathroom and tried to eat the recycled cat food.  Caught him in time, but, man, I sure don't get to SIT for long today.

    And, it's still snowing.

LOL Glenda!  I should hook you up with my friend and her pack of GSD's!  I'm sure her day goes pretty much the same.  She only has 4, but she also has 4 huskies to round out her pack!

I made two lists today.  One is my list of things to do around the house.  How did it get so long?  I'm glad I have an extra day this weekend(PD day at school and subsequently a day off for me) but geez, I had hoped to be able to relax for a few minutes.

The second list I made is of all the food I have in my house.  I want to try and use it up without doing much grocery shopping if any at all.  But I haven't got a clue how.  Does anyone feel up to the task?   I would be eternally grateful!

Candance, I do that a lot. Usually because I have to not because I really want to.

Well yesterday was a complete waste but I really needed all of that rest.

Today I got around fairly early and did all of my errands that I put off yesterday. Not the dogs are happily chewing on their cow cheek rolls. They love them and theirs no choking hazard.

We have a play date at 3 but I would so rather stay home and take a nap. Oh well, the dogs could use an hour or 2 of running off leash.

well my foot/leg thing is feeling better each day - I can hardly believe it is due to this boot but it must be so it's still on.

Last year I got a great deal on a keyboard/mouse set and I finally decided today was the day to install it - seems fine and the mouse is lots more responsive than my old one.  I'll put the old one back in the closet as it works fine just sluggish. he he this is one of those natural keyboards that are slightly curvy and it will take some getting used to the real test will be when I try wordtwist on facebook LOL

very boring day here, DH is napping, Bugsy is napping and I have a giant boot on ho hum - lots to do but only Bugys is fit and fighting

    • Gold Top Dog

It's gloomy and rainy today and it fits my mood perfectly. I did go buy groceries earlier but I'm not planning to go out again. Only because I feel like a total slug, I'm going to spend a half hour or more on the elliptical. I'm not sure if I should do that before or after I take a nap though. Sleep

Today so far  has  been more productive than I thought it would be, given the rain, wind and general gloom. I picked up the 10 pool towels that had been sitting in a pile on the laundry room floor since the end of September, washed them and put them away .... and I took off the Christmas tablecloth.  Max keep trying to go out various doors.  He knows it's raining outside the doggie door, but I think he's hoping for better weather if he goes out the side door or the dining room slider.

     Oh Max...LOL

K folks, I've made a list of 5 dinners that I can make with the stuff on hand, but I've still got a bunch of junk left to use.  Here's the list.

    • loaf whole wheat bread
    • 1/2 bag frozen corn
    • 1 bag frozen peas
    • 1/4 bag frozen cut green beans
    • 1/2 bag of jumbo shrimp(maybe half a pound?)
    • 1 can of ham
    • 2 cans Tomato paste
    • 4 cans Tomato soup
    • 2 jars spicy pasta sauce
    • 3 cans crushed tomatoes
    • 2 cans diced tomatoes
    • 1 can whole tomatoes
    • 1 can black beans
    • 1 can romano beans
    • 2 cans dark red kidney beans
    • 1 small can baked beans
    • 2 cans cranberries
    • 2 sm cans pizza sauce
    • 1 can artichoke hearts
    • 1 bottle seafood sauce
    • spaghetti noodles
    • 8 eggs
    • 8 cans mushroom soup
    • rice
    • potatoes
Now I also have lots of spices and condiments but I'm not going to list them.  I've got flour and sugar and the normal baking stuff as well.  Cheese Whiz, Ketchup, Mayo etc.  And things like milk, sour cream etc.  I have fresh veggies too, but I used them up in the meals I already thought of.  Sooooooo...can you make up anything out of this stuff that I can make without buying too many groceries?  I'm not opposed to getting a few things, but I'd really like to use this stuff up.

The dogs are driving me nuts, & they refuse to play in the yard on their own.  Why oh why have we spoiled them so?

Is anyone interested in an older, sometimes mellow Boxer?  Or maybe a crazy, insanely focused Dobe, who really needs a 10-15 mile run to make him a little more normal.  Also available is a mutt of unknown orgin, who is currently herding anything in sight.  If none of these tickle your fancy, we also have two doxies available.  One is nicknamed "You little @*#$%*$."  (He enjoys being a little difficult.)  The other is a sweetie who just wants to curl up in your lap.  If you're trying to sleep & your lap isn't accessible, then she'll sleep on you face or head.

    Any takers???  Please, I'm begging!

LOL Amanda I can just imagine - Bugsy's napping was shortlived and he has been in loads of trouble the last couple of days - multiply by 5 and ZOWIE!  Bugsy asked if we can have all of them Stick out tongue

Hey Joyce I keep meaning to tell you that Bugsy loves his kong treat ball - it is still alive, missing a few chunks but he really likes it.  And I finally dug into those teeny treats and those are huge hit too.  I don't give him many treats that's why we are just hitting into them.  They are awesome training treats.

roast chicken tonight, some not dead yet asparagus, and DH wants stuffing - yuck I hate stuffing

    that's all

Does anyone else have a dog that must, just MUST, jump on the bed and act like a goof while you're changing sheets?  Swimming backwards, making gargled aroo noises, and grinning?  The girls kept doing that yesterday.  I had to shut them in another room.  Silly kids.

Got all my errands/cleaning done yesterday, so I can do anything today.  Too bad there's an icy wind or else me and the girls could have a long play session.

I think I'll go curl up and read a book.
