Mindless Chatter - Weekend Edition

I'm off in a little while to help a friend work with a client who has two reactive dogs.  I am the "person walking past with a non reactive dog".  My dogs love this type of outing and it is very good for Belle.  It's chilly here too and a little windy.  My second day on pred.  Did some major house cleaning last night.  My bathrooms are sparkling clean and the kitchen too.  Gotta look on the bright side. LOL

Man, I'm seriously tired today. I wanted to sleep in, but got up at 6 and I just feel like I'm wading thru mud. I have the bedding in the washing machine and have cleaned both bathrooms, so I'm making progress.

DH will be home from work soon and probably tired too. It's dark and rainy, so after I finish cleaning, I think it'll be a lazy, do nothing kind of day.

After a few days of gorgeous, warm weather, it's cold again.

Today, we are taking the dogs hiking.  My younger brother is coming along with his pit mix, Mia, & dober pup, Chaos.  The pup is finally clear of ringworm, so now we can start socializing him.  He's 17 weeks old, & has had very minimal socialization, so today should be a totally new experience for him.  Luckily, he has some very level headed dogs to learn from.  Mia, Chyna, Bevo, & Shooter will teach him a lot in a short period of time.  I am so ready to get my puppy fix!

Today BF's family is coming over to throw a belated birthday party for me, which should be fun. Guacamole for started, then seafood pasta, homemade bread, veggies, and a homemade cake for dessert. Yum!

Last night we had a bunch of friends over and I made a salmon cracker spread that was super tasty. About 4-5 oz. cream cheese, about 1-1.5 tbsp lemon juice, a splash of light cream to make the cream cheese softer, 4 oz of smoked salmon (like a big piece of smoked salmon fillet, not the shaved lox-type salmon), about 1/4 small onion diced super duper fine, and a generous amount of dill. People loved it!

 Brrrr....cold here too!  So cold in fact that we have cancelled our road trip to go and buy dog food.  Can't get the kind that we feed here in D-Town so we have to to 2 hours away.  Ah well, my dogs prefer raw anyway.  We go through a bag of dog food in about 3 months and the dogs have some deer left outside too. 

Kali has learned to recognize herself.  I think fairly recently.  Today she's been walking around saying Kali Camera, Kali Camera Peeeeeez!  She wants to use our camera, but I don't want her to.  Hehe.  [See my Kid Cam thread for thoughts on that if you can...please]

I am out of eggs.

Cold here too. Ten below. But Willa and I still got up and going and went to swim at the Y. She's so stinkin' cute in her little swimsuit. This was the third time we went. I don't have any pics of her there, but her she is trying on her suit.

I'm not a baby fanatic, but you're right, that is one super adorable little girl!

One of my best friends is coming from out of town with her boxer, the same one I posted in my intro thread. Our dogs have been acting too cool to play with Rey so I'm really looking forward to him getting to meet the two of them. And I'm trying to clean and straighten up of course. Nice job, JackieG, I need to make some things sparkle around here

Whew, good thing you warned me. She is soooooo cute in her little swimsuit and she seems to know it. I'm having trouble imagining swimming anywhere when the temp is 10 below, but I'm guessing it's indoors and heated. How fun for you guys :)

I'd forgotten that today is the Guns & Hoses football game. The firefighters never win against the cops, but it's usually very entertaining and DH wants to go. He's dead tired and his cold seems worse, but I'll try to get enthused. He's at the gym right now and I'm hoping a huge thunderstorm will break thru before he gets home and he'll want to bow out.

feel like crap. after the fiasko with the dogs just now (ate medicine, induced vomiting on both dogs) i am exhausted but can't sleep... it's been an hour, and my knees are still wobbly... blech...

 Yesterday was my first day of working as a nurse! I am in a level 3 NICU, so it was very scary. One baby actually died while i was there (not my patient though). I walked down to the morgue with the family- it was so sad. I have a lot to learn, but i think i am going to love it!

 I imagine that will be a very rewarding field to work in Megan.  I've thought about it more and more lately too.  Mostly because of the nurse I had when I had Kelci.  She was wonderful!  Plus nursing is in demand right now and the incentive program here is pretty good.  They'll put you through school for free if you promise 3 years to this hospital.  I'm not going anywhere, so that would be just fine for me.  Now to find the time....

Onyx just puked some weird greenish stuff up.  That dog can find something to eat in an empty white room with no door!  

I'm making taco soup for supper.  Can't wait till it starts smelling good...Tyler's picking up some corn chips to go with it....mmmmmmm

Now, does anyone find it kind of gross that I can think if supper right after cleaning up dog puke?  heheehee

 I think I might be....slightly tipsy LOL.  DH went to see My Bloody Valentine 3D with his best mate so I am on my own tonight.  I asked him to run to the shop before he left to grab me a bottle of wine so that I didn't have to hobble there on my crutches, and he came home with a bottle of viognier for me...my favourite.  I've nearly finished the bottle and I'm slightly giggly. 

It's just me and little Willow tonight and also tomorrow afternoon.  So, I think I'm going to try to be as productive as possible and clean the house tonight.  That way tomorrow when it's a little warmer I'll take her and we can go out for awhile.  I think I'll make some vanilla pudding and some pumpkin bread while I'm in tonight too.

I have had terrible insomnia for a couple of weeks now.  This happens from time to time since I was a kid but this is the worst 'real' insomnia in many moons.  The last two days I have not accomplished much, I start something get distracted, start something else, ad infinitum.  Need sleep.

I have at least another week before I find out whether a received that contract or not and let's just say I NEED it.

Also I can't eat enough - I am constantly hungry. I just had a very nice steak, fresh green beans and some rice and I feel like where is the main course.  Is this what dog's are like? ha ha

I think 2009 is going to be a year of massive change for many.  I hope that we all find something positive in the change!

Bugsy seemed disappointed today that he didn't get to play with any other dogs and the snow all melted. How boring
