I don't know how similar our system is to yours, but we are asked whenever we obtain or renew our licence. In addition, there is a national organ donor register and all the state info goes there as well. Nonetheless, I think that kin can still override your wishes.

When I got my Ls I was rather attached to my organs and didn't want them going anywhere even if I didn't need them anymore. My mother told me too bad because if I died in her lifetime she would tell them they could take whatever they liked and she would be listened to, not me. I found that very rude, but I was only 16 and a year later when I got my Ps I discovered I no longer cared so much about what happened to my organs and became a full donor anyway. Most people I know are donors, but I guess no one I know has died!

Well, shoot yeah, Anne.  I mean, what the heck am I going to do with them?  Since I plan to be cremated, I wouldn't exactly be taking them with me, so just less of me to stuff in the incinerator.

If that sounds callous to anyone, my apologis, but shoot, if I have no use for body parts, why hang on to them?  That's just my thinking.....
