Leaner or Not?

Teddi...he's a leaner. He will lean on you for attention and petting. Teddi also has to be around me. If I move from a room he follows, he has to be able to see me. If I close a bathroom door, he will try to open it, and if he's unsuccessful will sit patiently right by the door waiting for me. He also will lay next to me on the couch or sit next to me/lay on me if I'm on the floor. He's a sweetheart.

Lacie is my leaner - she loves to be near me, on me, beside me.  She is very affectionate and loving.  There is no where she'd rather be than with me.

Keisha is more independent - she comes over, jumps up to be petted, is very affetionate - but is just a busy dog.  She has to be moving and grooving.  She's a bit of both - at times she leans, other times she watches from afar.

Rex is a leaner.  He is very needy - needs reassurance and physical touch.  He always knows where I am at all times.

Zoe was more like Keisha at first - just a busy girl.  But now she has become more of a velcro dog. She has grown to love affection and is constantly laying across my lap.

They all keep an eye on me no matter where we are

Ah, the joys of living with Aussies - those eyes always on ya.  Even if the two girls are sound asleep, all I have to do is readjust myself in my chair and they are up watching.  Not the breed to own if you hate being stared at LOL.  I can only imagine what it's like for the BC people LOL.

My hound is the bed pillow guy - he doesn't seem to care if it's him leaning on me, or me leaning on him.  I think he just likes the warmth.  Comfort freak that he is...

Both Dess and Nora lean.  Not only lean, climb on to get in laps too.  Of course it is with permission most of the time.  Belgians want to know exactly where you are at all time.  They will chill when they understand the schedule. But if you are not supposed to be at work (or have crated them for some reason), they will be in the same room with you.  Almost always they will pick a spot under foot.  I think that is so you cant get away without them noticing.

I think that the herders have a "don't let them get away without you noticing" gene.  Wink

A lot of people wrote specifically about their breed,,,but you know what I think is funny about this thread, it seems like most everything that was posted sounds like my dog.......and I bet thats true with most of us.  Big Smile

Rascal's not necessarily a "leaner," but he is most definitely a "snuggler" and prefers to have full or almost-full body contact while he's napping with you.

That is, of course, unless you repeatedly move around or otherwise disturb the peace, in which case he grunts and makes a whiny growl-ish noise of protest, moves about a foot away, and glares at you.

I have four papillons on top of me right now. Does that answer the question? :p

None of mine actually LEAN, but they sure do like to be close.  All six of them.  The real estate around mom is the primest.  Theo is always so close and "up my butt" that sometimes moving is difficult.

In bed, all three who actually are allowed and FIT in the bed with us, have to be touching me in some way shape or form in order to be comfy.  Keeps me warm, but I hate when someone decides to lay ON my legs so I can't move at all......

I miss having a cuddly dog! B always has to be in the same room and will sit next to us and sometimes touch us with his paw. He grumbles about it if we get huggy-like with him. Its kind of funny - we've had to learn to respect his space. The only time he's super cuddly is when he's sick or really tired!

I think my handle says it all. :o)

As soon as I saw you'd posted on this one, that was my exact thought!!

I have a "touchy" cat.  She likes being held, cuddled, petted, being on your lap, snuggling.... but she also likes just touching you.  She puts her paw out and rests it on me... on my arm or my hand or my face.... and she closes her eyes and **smiles**.  I think it's really sweet. Smile

He "sits" (backs up to the couch & rests his butt on it) on the couch next to me

Bugsy backs up to sit on your lap while you are on the couch or chair.  He only does this in the morning though.

He is a leaner under certain circumstances and there have been moments where I thought my ACL was going to blow LOL but he isn't velcro unless he wants something.  Like when he thinks it's time for food or a walk or some training he is on me, as close as possible without touching.

LOL at the pics of Gibson! Big Smile I love it how Great Danes really, really want to be lap dogs. A few years ago I worked for someone that had a Dane and when I sat on the ground, she would sit in my lap. She was a sweet, affectionate dog.

That sounds exactly like Kirby.  Probably why he often doesn't even try to lay on me, since I'm such a squirmy got to readjust myself every five minutes kind of person.  Doesn't help that when he does fall asleep on me, I'll often look down on him and the next thing I know will burst out into laughter because I think it is so funny in a cute sort of way, thus waking him up... I'm a bad doggy momma. Embarrassed
