Well..
It was a long, hard road...involving a dislike between a bitch and a potential mate, and then another mate turning out to be infertile, and then a mad dash across the country to a third stud, however...
A Maremma Sheepdog will be joining us at the beginning of April. I just got the news that the bitch is pregnant with 9 or 10 puppies, one of which has my name on it.
I'm sure most of you know by now how much I love these dogs, and just how much getting one will mean to me. The breeder, who I am proud to call a friend, I couldn't imagine a nicer woman, just laughed at my complete inability to contain my glee when she rang me a few minutes ago.
And here I feel the need to say a thank you publicly to someone. None of this would ever have happened if it hadn't been for Becca (brookcove). Not only was she the person from whom I first learned about Maremmas, she has spent the past 2 years patiently answering every question that popped into my mind about them via email...and most of all, when I despaired of ever being able to get one here because of the lack of puppies, she made me an INCREDIBLY generous offer of help with regards to obtaining one from the US. Becca, you're amazing, and thank you so much. You'll be the first to get pictures. ;)
