does your dog wear a coat in the winter?

I know he probably doesn't need one and most of the time he doesn't wear it, but during
some cold Minnesota winter nights, I do put a coat on him. I got him some nice muttluk boots
to protect his paws from the salt and stuff, but he wouldn't have anything to do with them.
Here he is looking like a stud in his red "playa" cape. [:D] Ignore the bed. For awhile, we had
a twin bed on the floor for him to lay on.

Yep! They both do. They wear clothes all year. Teenie has boots, but Emma won't wear them. Teenie wears at least a light t shirt, all the time. Her little belly is allergic to the grass.

GSDs have a double coat so I doubt I'll use a coat even though it gets to well below zero here and is basically cold and snowing late October through April.  I may invest in some dog boots b/c of the sharp and slippery ice (people here do NOT shovel....grrr, don't get me started!!) and all the salt.

I have THIS BLANKET for Luke.  I buy my horse blankets from the same company and, of course, thought it was adorable when I could buy Luke a matching blanket.  His is red.  [:D]

When I originally bought it, Luke was coming with me to the barn every day and sometimes had to stay in the car afterwards while I went to the gym.  I simply felt better knowing he had his blankie on.  He does not wear it when going out to play, though, because I don't want him to overheat.  I think I generally brought it out when it got around 20 degrees or so.

This past winter the only time his blanket got used was when we both went to live at the barn for a week.  That whole week it never got above zero degrees and the temp. dropped down to -35 at night.  I had Luke wear his blanket any time we went outside in that weather.  He did absolutely fine, but did get frosty whiskers!

I admit that I'd dress him up more if I could, but it's pretty hard to find dog clothes in his size.  lol

Karissa K - Rosco has a little doggy-sized horse blanket too. It's super cute and keeps him warm since he has no coat to speak of for winter. Lexi and Luna both have enough fur that they don't/won't need anything except a good rub down with a towel when they come in.

Rosco also wears a sweatshirt or sweater around the house in the winter when it gets cold.

in the winter time, when we go outside, coco has so many jackets, it's ridiculous.  all sorts.  and she wears little booties on our walks.

i think it's very important the booties.  I think we only had a few walks outside when it snowed so she only wore her boots a handful of times...but the boots are like... destroyed already from the salt and whatever chemicals they use for the streets.

inside the house, in the winter, it's always FREEZING in here too.  so usually in the winter, she'll just have a t-shirt on of some sorts.

in the summer.... she's always nekkid.... he he he he eh

except last night..it was FREEZING out for soem reason.... everyone had jackets on and what not cause we were all outside bbqing and eating and partying... and it was my mom's birthday... so when she cute the cake and was taking pictures...coco got to wear her party dress....lol

it was a good idea cause my 2 year old nephew is terrify of dogs and is scared of even little coco... but as soon as he saw her with the dress on... he started giggling.

OMG that's the greatest picture with the most "Ahh, mom, do I have to.  What are doing to me." look I've ever seen.

Even though it doesn't get too cold where I live Giz still feels it. She has really bad hips and any bit of cold makes them worse so I have to cover them in the winter. I sew my own clothing for her because it's so hard to find clothing for a dog of her size that fits properly.

Besides she is the princess around here:
