according to weather.com it is 38 here and feels like 27. this is def. january or february weather not november weather.

i am off all week next week, and was thinking about taking sydney camping for a couple of days. we were going to go last weekend and try to catch some of the leonid meteor shower, but bad weather (rain) and a hurt paw made me decide to stay home. how cold is too cold for camping? that is the question right now!

Ack I hope you get your heat sorted!

I did have to laugh though, I just converted the temp and it's 52 here, when I was out with Ben I was marveling at how warm it is!  I suppose that's because I don't live in Florida.  LOL.

Ditto.  50s and 40s that's still camping weather!  I turn our heat on when it freezes.  It's on right now, but trying to keep it set at 65 or below b/c of cost, though often I'll have it higher when I'm home and turn it way down during the day and night.

Depends on the rating of your bag!  Mine's -20F.

I've camped out for U2 things.  Coldest was Dec. in Lincoln, Nebraska.  22F, sleeping on cement.  Second coldest was probably Pittsburgh in October, it rained the entire time and was windy.  Not quite freezy but wet and cold.

i am thinking that i can handle low 20's at night... maybe  in the teens. i have a +20F bag, but i am a hot sleeper. especially in a tent.

i have been camping with snow flurries and stayed warm at night.  i am more concerned about sydney. i have him a sleeping pad and a blanket, but not sure if that will be enough or not. i am going backpacking so we wont be right at the car if it gets too cold.... i had expected it to still be 60 deg. days and 30 deg nights this time of year.

oh mna i have to laugh - my BF had the dogs in this morning becuase he said it was 'cold' outside. he's such a softie sometimes!! thinking it was actually 'cold' i had put on two hoodies, a beanie & a scarf to go out for the bicycle jog - it was NOT cold! i had to take the scarf off becuase I was sweating!

should be an interesting winter seeing how my central heating does NOT work.  its not that bad though - california winters are probably like spring to other states!! LOL.   I had it repaired 3x last year & it still doesn't work. i have a wood burning stove. that should do me just fine.  BF got a little 'fake' wood stove for his 'hideaway' aka the game room.  it has fake flames & everything.

its been really warm here the last couple days, right now it's 64, hmmmm soo unbearable!!! LOL

been kinda irritated about that lack of activity that my BF does. I need to just let it go, some people just 'don't' exercise. Its hard though, its such a big part of my life right now.  And the fact that my best friend is trying desperatly to be able to exercise - she has alot of back problems, makes me look at my BF & think  ' but you CAN, you just DONT'   I know i need t let it go though.............I just have a hard time understanding how someone just 'doesnt' do it.  but then again i used to be that way, it was just a long time ago.

I have been loving this weather!! I was outside cleaning off the patio yesterday in the afternoon and it was in the high 70s. It is a bit chilly in the morning until the sun comes up but it could stay like this forever and I'd be happy. Sadly, it's going to start cooling down over the next few days. I'm a big wimp and altho I like the bedroom to be cold at night, I hate freezing when I get up. We have our thermostat programmed to come on an hour before I get up, so it's pretty nice by then.

Well we keep the heat in the house at 66 degrees. Mainly because it cost freaking 500 bucks to get the tank filled HALFWAY.Tongue Tied

I am kid free!! I went out to lunch with a friend and she took Samantha home to play with her son so I could go to class tonight alone. JJ's schedule changed so I had been having to take Samantha to class with me. She is great to have there for dogs that need proofing on distracions but class was the one place I had that it was focused on dogs not the cute little kid running around.

I have jury duty this afternoon.  What kind of goofy time is 1:15 p.m. to have to be at the courthouse???  At least if it's a morning time I can get  there early enough to find a decent parking space ... but 1:15???  I'll grow old and die circling the block. Sad

Don't they send you a pkg pass or is this for Davis? Both Sacramento and Placer now let check online the night before to see if you have to report. I've lucked out the last couple times and never had to actually show up. Maybe you'll get selected for some sordid but juicy trial and it'll be fun Wink

My boss is on the road most of this week, so I should be able to get a lot done, yet I've not done much of anything Stick out tongue

That's one way to get out of jury duty but gosh Joyce it's too drastic, IMO. LOL  I hold the world record, I believe, in being called for jury duty.  Every year I get called for at least one, either municipal court (big time waster), county or federal.  I have served on a federal jury once and that was quite an experience.

My car is ready for me to pick up at the mechanic.  Guess it wasn't too serious because I still seem to have all my limbs. LOL

Ok, good mood = gone. With the wind.

I have to do this project for a class online - envolving college. Well, I've decided Vet Tech so I figured I'd make this projest usefull. I ended in tears. 3 colleges in NC provide Vet Tech classes. So I picked one - Gaston College. In Dallas, NC. On the other side of Charolette. Thats a long way fro mhome for me. No, that did not make me cry....this did : SHOTS! I have to get rabies SHOTS to be a Vet Tech. Plural. More then one. Three to be exact. I am so terrified of shots it is not even funny. I had a friggin panic attack in my Mom's office. I'm shaking just writing about it. And then my Mom showed me the forum that said I DIDN'T have to get the shots. But that just freaked me out more 'cuz not getting the shots and putting myself in that situation in just plain dumb IMO. So, I can suck it up(along with a bottle of Xanax) and get the 3 shots - or I can put myself at risk for rabies and possibley have to get MORE shots in the tummy or butt. *major sigh*

I know someone on here is a Vet Tech, Casey's Mom - erica? How often do I have to get the shots to be a Vet Tech?

    • Gold Top Dog

I've honestly not gotten the shots. Rabies is not prevelent where I am. If was to be going on the other side of the state for a hurricane resuce pulling animals out from houses - yes, I would have to suck it up (as well as take the entire bottle of xanax!) and get the vaccines done. There is maybe a rabid raccoon every so many years, but that's been it, really.

We have a very strict quarentine time here - and if I'm bitten by an animal with unknown vaccine history you can bet their furry butt they will be quarentined for the 10 days. The only time I have been bitten in a situation like that was during an euthanasia of a very sick stray animal. we sent him out for testing, rather than holding him and allowing him to suffer. All came back clean, thankfully!

    • Gold Top Dog

I'm not sure how common it is around here, but lots of people just pick up stray animals and bring them to the Vet's Offices(me included). I'd rather be safe then sorry.....still - terrified of shots. I get xanax a few days before I have to go in of a shot(if I know I'm getting one) to get it in my system a little. It doesn't help much.

Thanks erica! I feel a little better now...

haha... I'm probably the worst when it comes to needles and ME.

I passed out while getting my ears pierced the first time... and the second time... I was just about in a panic attack going IN there! Why I got my second holes done... I'll never remember!

I had to get my finger pricked, and I was in hysterics....I coud never donate blood - I panic just walking past the trucks!

You can call your animal services and find out how many cases of rabies have been brought in in the past year, and what species were infected. We do a lot of rabies 'drops' with the vaccine in the food for the wild animals - it helps a TON.

The county seat is in Woodland and yes, they send a pass ... but that doesn't guarantee finding a space in the lot.  I called them at noon just to re-check and they switched me to 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.  Hopefully when I call back on Wednesday night,  they'll say *stay home* and I can forget about it for another year. Problem is that my parking pass says 11/18 and I'll be using it on 11/20.  I hope they can figure it out.
