Softness similar to these toys? http://www.planetdog.com/dog-toys.asp?ID=1309
They are the only "soft" toy that he hasn't destroyed/eaten.  I have noticed that Mosby doesn't play with his Kong anymore and always sticks with this one instead.  Maybe it's because he's getting older and the harder toy is too much on him.  Can you get the purple Kong in stores or only online?  I think it's worth a try for him!

They're replacing black King Kongs. One thing that I was thinking the Blues would be better at is holding up to freezing, thawing, and a dishwasher. I know all Kongs are dishwasher-safe, but the Blues are meant primarily for large facilities that sterilize with extreme temperatures. I think it was really the repeated freezing (the stuffing expands when frozen, after all) that really did our black ones in. Not so much the chewing of the dogs.

I couldn't find any info on the psi that black kongs can endure, but for the blues it's listed at over 3800 psi, and able to stretch to 9 times their normal length.

    Some more Kong fillers...

Ben enjoys berries (blueberries especially, but any will do) so I will mix in a few with moistened kibble or good quality canned food. Sometimes I spread the inside with liverwurst and then fill it up with whatever, so that after he eats the stuffing he has to work to lick the liverwurst off the inside. I've found unsweetened fruit yogurt at the health food store, that's a special favourite. For a treat I will mix a teaspoonful of honey in. Peanut butter and unsweetened apple sauce is a favoured combo.

I tend to find that the frozen kongs are LESS messy, because they stay frozen as he licks it bit by bit. Regular (unfrozen) kongs he tends to throw around and the food goes everywhere.

thank you for the info - he's on a new duo of black ones one XL and one XXL his problem (or mine) is the chewing.  A black XL last about 2 months and then they break in half ( usually the bottom third comes off). No matter what you put in them he will at somepoint just chew on the kong and crush what it is in it.  Can't really complain because he has always chewed what he is allowed to chew so if I have to replace kongs so be it - just not couches!
Thanks again for all the info

...In fact right on the package is printed, "Available from Veterinarians Only" (unless you can use Google!)....

Or shop at the pet supply store where I do.  He's had them for about a year now.

    She LOVES IT!

How about that for a complete change???

So where can I order the XXXXL one?[:D]

Here are some ideas on stuffing a Kong:

DOH, is it strange that I'm all excited waiting to get Ella's Blue King Kong in the mail????

She's been getting a stuffed Kong once a day for the past few days. She's getting better at working with it. I think Ella takes a while to warm up to things.

And the King one should be big enough for her to get her tongue further into it and so I think she'll like it. Then maybe we can graduate to the smaller kong.

She's never been one to lay down and chew on things. It's not her style. Even with RMBs she'd just stand and chew on them. So with the kong she doesn't really lay down and utilize her paws with it to flip it over and lick it. She uses either her tongue to flip it over or she uses her nose.

    Silly dog.[:D]

Also, the bigger the Kong, the bigger the hole opening is, right?
Or does that stay the same size?

So wait, let me ask a stupid question. Is the king kong bigger than the XXL kong?
    What about the EXTREME XXL.
    There's too many sizes available![;)]

XXL is the biggest - not sure if that is king size but it is the largest - according to sitstay XXL and king are the same!

    well, what the heck!
I was told that the KING Kong will hold 2 cups of filler.
The black one that Ella has now won't even hold, I don't think, a cup of food.
I couldn't fit half a cup in there yesterday, but I had a little bit of yogurt and the tiny hold had peanut butter on it.

I would believe that the XXL/king size will hold 2 cups its huge and pretty heavy - yet still no deterrent for Bugsy bigmouth monster chewer [sm=crazy.gif]

I don't feed him in his kong - too messy he just chomps down and squishes stuff out frozen or otherwise.  If you put something like a biscuit in there he crunches it inside the kong.
yesterday I tucked a piece of salami up in the giant one and he did have a minute or two with that but where there is food there is a way
