    Does your dogs shedding now?

Just curious, isn't it a bit early to switch the fur, but my pups seems to shed a lot right now, one is even more then the other. Did your dogs already started winter prep fur wise?

Tootsie sheds year round. Actually right now its not to bad.

Mine are not right now. Charlie is my biggest shedder and hes doing pretty good right now. As soon as it starts getting colder I expect the fur to coat everything in my house once more. lol

Could the shedding times vary from dog to dog?

Both of mine have been shedding heavily all summer.  It's like the spring shed never stopped this year.

i read somewhere that it has to do with temperature change more than the actual time of year.... so if you moved recently or the climate just turned around, that could be a reason i guess,.....

Two of mine are blowing their coats right now.  They do it every year around this time though.

No more than usual. The aussies have finally blown all of their winter coats (seemed to take forever!). Now they are just shedding the normal average daily amount that they shed all year.

I see you are in NC too - we've had pretty much the same with our guy this year although it isn't too bad at the moment

For some reason I thought that the "fur schedule" was dictated by the amount of daylight hours as opposed to the actual temperature.  I think that meant that the animals were able to prepare for winter and not just react to it.

The sun is definitely going down much earlier and coming up later here so I wonder if that is why...

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong and this is just a myth...

vanmorrison. you could be right! it's really just this faint memory of reading it and it might have been daylight hours! *shrug* i have no idea!! lol

I would be sooo happy if the fur schedule in my house was dictated by something ... anything at all. Max sheds copiously 24/7/365. It doesn't matter what the temperature is or how many daylight hours we have. I asked DS to run the vacuum Saturday afternoon while I went looking for a fan I had stashed somewhere and he totally filled up an empty Dyson cannister - just doing that one room. Embarrassed

River is blowing his coat now too.  I was saying to myself the other day, this is early ehh?

This is exactly what it's been like with Cherokee. She actually started shedding late this year, I kept thinking "She's looking awfully fluffy for May!" And then she started...and hasn't stopped. Seriously, she shed sweaters for at least two months. I couldn't believe she had any fur left to shed! It's finally slowed down..but I still have to Swiffer and vacuum at least every other day if I don't want everything coated in black fur.

And I'm guessing now that I've said that it'll be back to shedding sweaters...

I just had to jump in and say "Rory hardly sheds", ha ha ha ha!Stick out tongue

She barely even has hair on her tum tum!
