OK, so I am looking in my book and the ones that are unique that I like that are celtic for boys are: Evander, Aidan, Brogan, Gavin, Keegan, Kennedy (I liked this as a girl name too), Teague, Trevor.

My son has a good friend named Brogan. It is a rare name here and none of the other kids have found a way to mess with it.Stick out tongue

Ummm....is there something you're not telling us Lori?  hehe

LOL, no not me, it's my brother's wife's sister--and they've already got a Zackary.  He was the ring bearer at their wedding and at the rehearsal we must of practiced 10 times because he wanted to walk down the aisle like Spider Man!

I love the name Charolette for a little girl :)  and Emma

    • Gold Top Dog

My two favorite male names...one is already in use and the other is well, not popular even tho I think it rolls off the tongue like warm honey.

    Elias & Judas.

I really like the name Rory but dang if it isn't too hard for me to say.  Doesn't really roll off my Texas tongue.  Thought it would be a good tribute to 'his' grandpa and great-grandpa as my dad was Roy Ronald and his dad was Roy Thomas.  Roy with an R in the middle is Rory - tada!  But alas, it won't happen cause it sounds like mush coming out of my mouth.  I like the name Judd too; much easier to say.

My best friend and I were discussing baby names the other night and she totally shot down my girl name.  Said it would be cruel and unusual to name 'her' Friday.  But why?  There are Tuesdays and Wednesdays and even Sundays.  Who doesn't like Friday?  Bah humbug, Shalisa (!) is no fun.

I used to babysit for an Irish family (we're Irish too) who's son was named Taig, short (Irish) for Timothy.  I also like Finn, Conlaoch (or Connla), Diarmaid, Oisin and Fergus.  This are all names from mythology and have wonderful stories/histories behind them.

As much as I love those names I won't be using one, I think.  DH is jewish and I like family names as well.  Our boy will probably be called Isaac David and a girl will probably be Rachel Sydney.

    This is fun!

    Thinks, thinks, thinks...

There are some REAL NICE, unusual names with Irish heritage... I mean unusual without being TOO "out there".  And they have something different spellings as well.  So I have been looking for boys names with Irish heritage.  Here goes....

    Caine

    Cormac

    Kian

    Fynn

    Ronan

    Lochlann

    Dylan

My friend named her son Cormac, and her daughter Reagan.  I actually really like Reagan (sounds like Meagan), but Cormac is some author they like.

BFF is having a baby girl and we spent 3 hours running through names with her husband.  Almost every name was eliminated as "stripper name" or "I have a defendant by that name" - my friend is a prosecuting attorney.  They're down to Ava, Hayden, Peyton, Callie, and a few others.  But they still have a few months left. :)

    I like Ava a lot.

    I like Ava a lot.

Ava is the mom's top pick, but hubby thinks it's somewhat stripper-ish.  (ummm, huh?!)  Apparently it was among the top 10 girl names for 2007.

My friend's grandmother and great-grandmother have the name Amalia as a first or middl name, so she wants to incorporate that somehow.  We shall see!  They only learned it's a girl last week.

Payton...spelled with a "ay" is a fabulous girls name...because like the little girl on my daughters basketball team...you can call them "Sweetness" as a nickname. And any football fan worth their salt can appreciate that!

I love that name, it's very pretty.

Haha, so I talked to Suzi today.. apparently they're now agreed on Aidan, which I think is hysterically funny because it's SO common. I think maybe she doesn't know, and I'm sure as heck not telling her! LOL. We'll see if that lasts through January..

In the meantime, this thread is too fun! I have a little baby name obsession.

My favorite boys names (that I sure wouldn't suggest to a sister, but since who knows if I'll have kids, wouldn't say anything if one of them picked one..) at the moment are Isaiah and Elijah. I've also loved Gavin Leo and Dallas Owen for years and years. Leo was my maternal grandfather's name, and Owen is my paternal grandfather's middle name (first name is Albert...notsomuch), and I just really like Gavin and Dallas. London is also really cute I think.

Dylan is also a favorite of mine..though I think I might like it for girls more, I can't decide. I also really like Bradley for a girl, bizarrely. I think one of my kids might end up with an Alex name.. Either Alexis, or Alexandra, or Alexander (which I don't love, for some reason)..or maybe just Alex. And I used to LOVE Samantha, but then I kind of stopped liking it for a while, but it's growing on me again. I love Leah too, my childhood best friend's name is Leah. I think if I had Elijah and Isaiah, I'd have to do Leah too, cause it kind of "goes", what with the -ah sound.

    I like names...
