Again, not arguing for non-dog related content here - that's a seperate issue. But it is slightly annoying when people say - religion should be private, keep that religious stuff to yourself. Ghandi and MLK didn't believe that, thank God.
I don't believe in bumper sticker theology so you're not going to catch me with cutesy quotes on my shirt, a fish on my car, or anything but actual scripture in my sig line - if I did that. Unless there were some contextual reason for it.
I don't see why expressions of religion should be any more annoying than artistic or other expressions of indivduality. I can read something like Anne's sig, or the "bird dog Yin and Yang", or even "soldiers" and take joy in the beauty of another person's soul. Nothing weird, or proselytising, about that. Now, if my sig line said, "YOU ARE ALL GOING TO HELL UNLESS YOU BELIEVE" - yes, that's in-your-face, overconfrontational, lacking in tact, and no good will ever come of it. The scripture even warns against that sort of thing. But that's true of any dialog on any topic.
Oh, and science can most definitely be a religion. I prefer the term "world view" - whatever is central to your thinking and shapes your view of the universe, and is the reference point for your actions and choices.
