Laundry Detergent

    Laundry Detergent

Just saw the commercial for the new green works detergent and that is the reason for the thread, plus Im bored. I already use the green works cleaning products and might try the detergent.

What kind do you use and why? Do you use different detergent for washing pet bedding?

I use Tide freebreeze for mine and Samantha's clothes. Why because I grew up with my clothes washed in Tide and the freebreeze just spells so good. I use Arm and Hammer oxy clean on JJ's and the dog's bedding. Why because JJ likes Arm and Hammer products and it cleans wonderfully.

I'm pretty boring.... I use whatever DH buys at Costco.  As long as it isn't Tide, which I am allergic to.

The boys stuff gets soaked and then washed as it helps to lift the hair off.

I buy whatever gives me  the most detergent for the least amount of money when I go to Wal-Mart.  Right now I've got a  1.32 gal. jug of Xtra that cost me about $2.99 and I swear I don't see a bit of difference between one brand and another. I just check the price and the amount in the jug. Smile

I use Dreft for our clothes & the dog's bedding.  I get a rash when I use other detergents, so it's easiest to do everything in dreft.

Yep, I use the exact same logic and have come to the exact same conclusion.  I do use the free and clear version though with no dyes or perfumes.

"cleaning power" has less to do with it, with me, than what it does to my skin.

NO Tide - I've been allergic to that *in a big way* since I was just a 'pup' myself.

I tend to limit myself to stuff that has no scent if possible or else I use Purex -- In fact, I generally use less than half what they recommend on the package and add 1/2 c. ammonia instead -- it degreases better and rinses out cleaner.  And sometimes every 10th load or so I omit the soap all together.

I dry very few things in the dryer (yes, I'm still hanging stuff up) so I don't have to use dryer sheets, and I don't use anything heavily scented.  Just being on an elevator with someone with Febreeze or stuff like that has caused me asthma probems.  Heaven help me if I get near someone with a lot of perfume on.

I use Tide Orange Slice on the clothes and Tide Fresh on the dog beds. I like the Orange Slice becuase it just smells really good and I like the Fresh becuase it doesn't really smell so I don't have to worry about the dogs not liking the smell. I know, my dogs are picky.

I use to use Arm and Hammer, scent and dye free. Now I make my own.

I use whatever's on sale, usually Cheer or Purex.  I'm not really picky on scent.  For pet bedding I use the same but also a little bleach, even with colors.  I also bleach whites and bath towels.

I use dryer sheets because it's so cold and dry here Oct - May.  Sometimes I even have to rub them on myself or the dogs.

Normally I use Method detergent that you can get a Shoppers. It's like 10$ a bottle thou it's worth it. Alex is allergic to almost every kind of soap out there so it's been fun trying to find something that doesn't make him break out in a walking rash. Anything I find he can't use, I just use on Maze's bedding. She likes the smells. Lol

Tide Free most of the time, though I'll throw in the Febreeze kind once in a while.  I have found that I have to buy the detergent though.  The two times I sent Tyler for laundry soap he came back with Snuggle and Downy.  "But it was way cheaper and you get more loads out of it!"  Uh...hun, its fabric softener, not soap...can't wash with this....

The Tide w/bleach alternative here.  If needed, I add some Febreeze to the wash water.

I used to be a tried-and-true Tide fan, but the price has gone up so much recently that I've switched to Gain.  It's much less expensive, at least at Wal-Mart.  I need HE detergent (front loader), so the choices are a little more limited.  I probably could use regular detergent and just use less, but that's too much guess work for me!

mmmm...tide simple pleasures...i think it's like lavender and vanilla! It smells soooooo good. I want to bury my face in my sheets after i wash them.
