I buy whatever gives me  the most detergent for the least amount of money when I go to Wal-Mart.  Right now I've got a  1.32 gal. jug of Xtra that cost me about $2.99 and I swear I don't see a bit of difference between one brand and another. I just check the price and the amount in the jug. Smile

Yep, I use the exact same logic and have come to the exact same conclusion.  I do use the free and clear version though with no dyes or perfumes.

    Same here Big Smile

Me too! Right now we're using X-Tra, once that is gone it'll be Sun. I've always bought the big jugs that have the little dispenser on the side but they don't sell them anymore...Crying. The Sun brand now sells the same jugs but way smaller. I'll probably continue to buy Sun because I like the convience of pushing a little button and out comes the detergent Wink.

mmmm...tide simple pleasures...i think it's like lavender and vanilla! It smells soooooo good. I want to bury my face in my sheets after i wash them.

JJ had a fit when I bought that once. Told me he didnt like smelling girly.

I can **ONLY** use the ALL without any scents/dyes. Anything 'scented' gives my brother and I migraines, and anything Tide brings on major itchies. I buy the 3x concentrated bottles too, since I have to store it on top of the dryer, which is on top of the washer, therefor over my head and way too high to lift a huge bottle.

For sheets I use Suavatel dryer sheets, since that is one of the few scents that doesn't bother us, and BF grew up with that scent so he looooves it.

I use Tide Free. I can't stand my clothes to smell like perfume. I don't want them to smell AT ALL. But I'm really sensitive to smells. Any kind of cologne or perfume gives me an instant headache, and I HATE perfumey smelling handsoap and stuff... And geez, things like Downey or dryer sheets? AWFUL. I hate it. I don't want my clothes, or especially sheets and towels, to be scented.

We used All free & clear or whatever it's called for several months, thinking we were wasting money on Tide, but then all my clothes got deodorant build-up, and lighter stuff was all dingy, so back to Tide...which has now, after just a couple washes, cleaned the deodorant and dinginess off all my clothes. Nice. I'm sticking with Tide for a while... might try one of the "natural" detergents at some point, when I forget about the deodorant build-up, lol.

I usually buy X-tra, but I'm mad that they don't sell it in the huge jugs anymore. In fact, our Walmart doesn't sell any big dispenser bottles anymore. There are smaller ones, but those are kind of pointless.

Tide and Purex rip apart my skin and Brett's too. I use All Free and Clear on Addisen's stuff, and the dog stuff gets washed in our detergent and Oxyclean.

I've used Tide all my life and won't switch.  I know it works for me so no need to use anything else.  I now use the formulation specifically for front-loading machines since I bought a front loader recently.  Don't think I'll ever switch back to a top-loader either!

Speaking of dryer sheets, I stopped using those at x-mas because my mom put these in my stocking...

They are dryer balls and they are the coolest.  They totally do the job on softness and they get rid of the static.  They don't have a scent and at $10 a pair they last about 4 years (at least that's how long my mom had her last pair).  You just throw them in the dryer with your wet clothes.  I definitely recommend them!

ETA:  I am also a freako when it comes to whites.  I bleach the snot out of them.  DH wears white undershirts and they get a good soaking in bleach before they are washed.  I have been known to bleach holes in things so I backed off of that a little bit...Embarrassed  But there is nothing I can't stand more than dingy whites.

Heh, I bleach everything that can be bleached! Especially socks. And I have only once bleached a hole in our white curtians...oopsies

I heard on TV a few weeks ago that newer white clothes that say "do not bleach" really shouldn't be.

Apparently there's some kind of chemical added to the fabric to keep it white, and bleach reacts with it and will actually make the clothes dingy.

Guess I should start reading tags....Surprise

I've been using Oxyclean instead of bleach, but I do find that you still need to use bleach once in a while.  The bleach is rough on the elastic in underwear, including those expensive bras (which should be washed separately anyway...ugh).  Oxyclean has reduced the wear on elastic.

Holes from bleach can be avoided by diluting the bleach first...yeah, one more thing to remember to do.

I switched to Gain recently...I like the smell.  Always used Tide when the kids were small...grass stains and red clay...it was the only thing that worked...and you still had to pretreat.  But that was a million years ago.

Whatever i can find that I can buy cheaply with a coupon/rebate/ or whatever is cheapest. I have good luck with practically anything.  I generally buy the unscented stuff if I can get it.

However, I MUST have Stain Stick.  That stuff is AWESOME!

I really like Tide and am convinced that nothing works quite as well. However, it's so crazy expensive that I will not buy it (unless there is a big sale). So, I usually by the cheapest - something like Purell.

i like the super concentrated all. comes in a tiny bottle and you only have to use a little bit with each load. plus it doesnt seem to have an over powering aroma like some detergents do.

where i live right now, i have this funky little european washer/dryer. the directions (yes i read them, had to) recommend using a powder over a liquid. they even had brands recommended. the only on the list i could find was fab. not sure i like it as much as the all.

We use whatever hE product is available...
Lately it's been Costco's Kirkland brand of hE....
Everything but whites gets washed in cold water...
