Do you eat first or feed your dog first?

Do you eat first or feed your dog first?

In the morning there are so many things to do before going to work that I find it easiest to feed my dog before I eat which is basically standing and gulping something down. (Like a dog?!?)  In the evening it is the opposite.  We eat dinner and then I feed him because sometimes I add a little of what we ate to his kibble and he gets a major thrill.  What do you do?

I do the dog food and water first thing when I go ino the kitchen in the a.m. so I don't forget.  At night, I just check to see if he finished what he had before I give him some more and the time varies.  I'm not a very "scheduled" person and fortunately, Max is OK with that. We're both pretty hap hazard Smile and he doesn't much care when he eats or goes out.

Maze and Kameo get fed as soon as I wake up in the morning so it keeps them out from under my feet. Lol Maze won't usually start eating until she's had her morning pee then she'll eat with the cat. Weird I know. I don't normally eat breakfast so I eat after them in the mornings. But at night Maze waits til we're done then she sometimes gets leftovers. Depending on whether she was begging or not.

I feed the pack first thing in the morning, and since they only eat one meal a day the evening is not an issue.   My fur kids snack heavily on training treats all day and the things I know the smaller kids slip to them.

You have time to eat in the morning?????

In the AM my DH gets up first and showers, then he feeds the dogs (around 5:30AM) we don't eat breakfast during the week until we get to work. In the PM the dogs get fed as we sit down to eat. I know we are "supposed" to eat first but whatever. We get to sit down and start with out their big brown eyes looking at us.

On Sunday's DH makes waffles. Since it is just the two of us, we have PLENTY of left over batter. It makes 3 additional waffles one for each dog. Man my girls are spoiled! They love waffle Sunday's.

Dogs are fed first, both morning and evening.

I do what's convenient for me and (obviously) most definitely don't buy into "eat first so they'll realize you're alpha" mumbo jumbo.

Varies for Bugsy - in the hot months we exercise first @ 6 or earlier so he eats after a significant cool down in the winter he will eat first thing, then exercise

He eats his 'dinner' very early so he eats before us always in the evening

Joyce I am pretty envious that Max just goes with the flow - Bugsy is soooo not like that - has a schedule and wants to keep to it at all times

Yep, he eats at 8AM, 2PM, and 8PM - so if I've managed to eat before then, great. ~L~

The funny thing is that I feed part homecooked, and you know you're hungry when you are making the dog's bowl and you think to yourself, 'you know, I *could* eat this!'

Well, since I don't eat breakfast, it's safe to say Caleb eats first in the morning.  LOL  As for dinner, it all depends on when we're eating.  Caleb gets his around 6 PM (sometimes a little later), but we humans don't have a set dinner time.

Our eating times don't match up so it is hard to tell.  I'm by nature a grazer and will eat multiple small meals throughout the day rather than adhering to only three or less large meals.  Kirby on the other hand gets three main meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.   I have a loose schedule with his feeding times and they can vary depending on what we end up doing each day.  Thankfully he is a go with the flow kind of dog.

My dogs eat once or twice in the evening, very rarely in the morning.  I usually feed them when I get home, so they eat first.  I come home, take them out for a while, then feed them, straighten up the house, and then I eat.  They need plenty of exercise and I don't like them doing tons of playing or long walks right after eating so that's why I feed them right away so we all have time to digest before we go out.  Depending on what exercise we have planned, I may feed them half, and then give them the rest much later in the evening after they've exercised and rested for a while.  I usually eat later in the evening, I like to have all the chores and work done before I settle down and eat.

It varies for us.  We usually leave for our morning run between 5-5:15 am.  When we get back, they get cool down time, while I shower & start getting ready for work.  Then they eat.  I usually don't eat breakfast until I am on the way to work.

In the evenings, I eat before they do.  Dinner time around here isn't unitl 9 or so.

Dogs eat first in the AM since I don't eat till I get to work.  For lunch they eat after, since again I eat at work, and they eat sometime after DH or I get home.  In the evening, it really varies.

It depends. In the a.m. they eat first so that I can get them outside to do their business and then get in the shower. I eat if I have time.

In the p.m. I will eat first if Dakota is demanding her dinner. She demands her dinner a lot so I ignore her and eat first to let her know that barking at me doesn't get her fed any sooner. It really doesn't work - she barks and demands her dinner anyway but will at least quiet down while I eat.

Tootsie eats first in the a.m., since I don't eat until I get to work.In the p.m. she also eats first because I eat when I feel like it. Me eating first to show her I'm alpha has never been an issue.
