Poop scooping (be honest)

    Poop scooping (be honest)

OK, well I helped out someone walking a dog recently because they had obviously forgotten to bring their poo bags.  I gave them a nappy sack to use instead and I have to say they weren't very gracious about it.  If it were me I would have been grateful because it IS embarrassing when you take a different jacket and forget to check the pockets for poo bags (oh the glamourous life we dog owners lead)  I admit it.  I have been caught short before.  Now be honest!  Who else has been caught short and what did you do?  Come on, we won't [sm=flamethrower.gif] you!  Probably [;)]

I don't post much but had to respond to this. Being caught without poo bags is a fear of mine. When my cocker was younger and seemed to be sick quite often and trying to adjust to new food, he'd poo sometimes 6 times on a walk. I used to walk at a park before work. I'd drive to the park, get out and walk him. One time, I had five poo bags filled with poo and he went again and unfortunately, I was out of bags. I went back to my car, took my sandwich I had for lunch out of the plastic bag and used that. I just set my sandwich on the dash and rode to work like that. Luckily I use a harness for Monty so he's in the back and unable to get to the front to eat my sandwich. Now, I literally take a whole box of poo bags with me, although we have his stomach under control now and he only goes once per walk.

Thank God, I live out in the sticks and don't have to worry about that.........but, that being said, if I have to travel with my dogs I only let them go where it is dog approved.......[;)][sm=wink2.gif]

I have taken my dog home, picked up a bag and gone back to the place to pick up. We never go very far from home.

yeah.. thank goodness.. i dont pick up doggy poop either!  that would suck... [:'(]

i only let coco poop on our yard.. and I clean it up when the sun dries it out and so it dont stink... with a big claw thingie my father made with a long handled dust pan.

then I dump the poop on one of the flower beds... free fertilizer!

Yup. We weren't really on a walk, but I had walked over to talk to a neighbor with my dog on a leash, and while we were talking I looked down and Frosty was pooping. Course I said I'll be right back with a bag, but she went inside and got one for me.

Mine typically only poop in the yard.  The fenced in area is about an acre, so I don't pick it up, I just run through it with the lawn tractor and figure I'm fertilizing!  It must be working, because the grass there is very thick and green.  Actually, I can't think of a time any of them have pooped while out on a walk.  they seem to hold it till they are in familiar territory.

I guess I am one of those horribly annoying people who ALWAYS has a bag.  I take a back pack when we walk and that's the first pocket I check when I load it.  Even if they poop in the dog area on a trip I still pick it up.  Doesn't hurt me to do it and it keeps the area less smelly.

I keep a few in my car and if we are street walking I bring one. If we are woods walking I don't bother. Molly prefers to pooh off trail so I can live with that. I would never ever leave any on a sidewalk or someone's front lawn.

At the Humane Society I wear scrubs pants that have one back pocket.  I like to take smaller bags like what the newspapers come in.  Sometimes I can't pick up the poop b/c it's too runny, but they don't really care as long as we try to get the dogs to poo off of the path.  If a dog didn't poo in the dog run beforehand, I try to keep the walk on HS property incase it poops and I can't pick it up.  Inside the runs they have pea gravel, so we use poop scoops.

    Haha.. me too [;)]
I don't carry a backpack or anything, but I DO carry a doggy bag in every pair of pants and every jacket I have. I also have a stash by the door by her leash, just in case I'm wearing a freshly washed pair of jeans.

It's come in handy plenty of times.. I was at a garage sale once and was visiting with the people who owned the house.. they had a dog too. Sierra conveniently pooped on their gravel driveway while we were talking... **embarrassing**. But I whipped out a doggie bag from my back pocket and picked it up. I still remember the guy's comment...
"Now that's a REAL dog owner!"

I have been caught short when Tojo poops more times than I have bags for. Lucky for me, there's a pooh-bag dispenser on my regular walking route.

I can see that, but in my doggie pic, can you see where one would need to pick up waste???
I am just saying that no dog owner does where I live............[;)]

I have forgotten twice - thought I had a bag in my pocket but didn't.  Once it was late at night and the other time it was pouring rain.  I will have to admit, I didn't go back since it was so late and didn't want to walk back by myself and the rain was terrible.  Considering Charlie absolutely refuses to poop in our backyard so we have to walk him to go, I figure our pick-up percentage is about 99.9999%.

Well with my pointer, Casey, she never goes to the bathroom outside of our yard.  With her, I never even bring bags anymore.  With Carley, if I see that she really has to go, we're hauling butt to an area that noone lives at or around and there's a lot of trees or tall grass around us.  I will come back and pick it up later as well.
