Mindless Chatter - Humpday

I didn't know making pie crust was so messy!

That's exactly the reason I buy my crusts already made in the cold section of the grocery store. Big Smile Just let it come to room temp and pop it into the pie pan. Sometimes I'm too lazy even to put one in a pan and trim it.  I lay it flat,  fill it, fold up the edges and call it a  tart.

I allllmost got the pre-mades. BUT his grandma's apple pie is *legendary* and IT DOES NOT USE PREMADE CRUST. Therefor, I made crust. :)

There's a huge storm, no power at home.  DH says it's too dark to even read.  I think I'll insist we go out for dinner.

Tues we have yet another vet appt.  I swear for healthy animals, this is probably my 10th time at the vet in the past year!  Kenya's ear stinks (literally) and Coke needs a heartworm test.  I also want someone to trim Kenya's nails.  It's hard for me to do it alone and she doesn't want DH holding her down.  If I hold her and a tech does it, there's no problem.  Also I never do it short enough.

Steph I will get you some pictures of Jayde and the goats. I always forget to take the camera but I will remember as soon as I get out there again. We have tried to send pictures through our emails and for some odd reason the breeder cant get the pictures sent. It says they send but wont let me see them.

Life Lesson #85 - don't decide to make your boyfriend a homemade apple pie (crust and all!)

Fortunately, my husband is totally happy with a Mrs. Smith's Apple Pie. I hope it turns out great though.

I swear it seems like half of our state is on fire. I know it's not, but it's pretty sad and in some of the most beautiful areas of the state Crying

i had to go to the vet today, too. Wyatt has been scooting so he got his anal glands expressed. He and Kaiser also got a nail trim. While there, I was informed by another lady that had a doberman that ridgebacks were WAY more aggressive than dobes. (i didn't know either were aggressive?!) and when her dobe tried to say hello to wyatt, she yanked the dobe back and said, "don't go over there! He'll eat ya up!". This is while wyatt is sitting with her 12 year old son, wagging his tail and giving kisses. I expect this for kaiser...but wyatt? sheesh. She then went on about how Kaiser was gorgeous and that GSDs were her favorite breed. oh well.

Look at it this way...she got one thing right, Kaiser is georgous!  At least she's not a TOTAL knucklehead.  Tongue Tied

I think I am going to panic sometime soon. I just found out yesterday that I am not float as I thought I would be for a while because that's what I was told when I was hired, but I have a classroom. I have a classroom of teenage girls (for right now). I have three open spots, so I could technically get some boys, some of the girls could be moved, etc. Anyway, I have kids not all that much younger than me. I think the youngest one is only 6 years younger than I am. I have some that are using sign language, and I really don't know a lot of signs, so I'm not entirely happy about that. I have one who is blind, and I really don't know what to do in regards to that. All in all, I am thoroughly intimidated at the moment, but am glad to know that I don't get the kids until Thursday, and not Monday like I had thought I would.

I didn't realize until I looked at the fire map in the paper that the central valley is almost completely surrounded by fires - they're burning to the west, north and east of us.  No wonder the sky looks so grungy. The paper quoted someone high up in some fire department as saying that if we didn't get a good hard rain soon this could be going on until October.  I guess he isn't from CA.  What do you suppose our chances are of seeing so much as a drop of  rain before October, or maybe even November or December? Sad

Liesje, the storms are headed our way. It is getting darker and darker, I decided not to walk the dogs so I wouldn't be out if they hit.

My FAVORITE candy bar just recently became available in the states. I fell in love with it when I was in Canada, and every time we crossed the border I bought HOARDS Big Smile  I love Coffee Crisps!!!!!

Today was my last work day until Tuesday WOO HOO!!!! I am FRIED.

Boy CA if I could send you some of our rain I would. But it sounds like with your luck you would either get the lightning, more fires no rain OR so much rain it would probably start land slides.

I had our neighbors cut our lawn. I don't know how to work a power mower. Art thought it would be fine until he got home on Sunday, but with all this rain I was beginning to wonder if we needed to bale it for hay.

Yeah, fat chance that we'll see even a drop till October. If that's what they're counting on, we're in big(ger) trouble. They've activated the Natl Guard, brought in support from out of state and have every other resource working these fires, so if we have more trouble spots break out, I'm not sure what will happen. It's really scary to think about.

They had everyone pulling their boats out of Folsom Lake today. That's the earliest they've had to do that in 15 yrs. and they say in another week or so, it'll be so low they'll put the 5 mph limit in effect. Guess this won't be a good year to try to sell our boat Hmm

DH and I just had drinks with a couple we met at the park when walking their dogs.  They are a lot of fun, and we'll be dog-sitting for them for a week starting in about 10 days.  Had a great time, but I am drunk now!
