Callie, I haven't been on the forum much in recent days, so I missed all this. I just went back and caught up on your original thread, as well as the latest news. First of all, to echo what everyone else has said, you and David are absolute angels to do everything you can to help this sweet little girl. That first photo just about killed me, but I'm so glad to see that she looks so much better already.
I wish I could help with the transport, but being 3,000 miles is a problem! However, I will tell you that my cousin's little pug just died on Thursday, and I know she'll watch over LuLu to make sure she's safely home with you and David ASAP. She, too, was a victim of neglect (or abuse, IMO). She was found wandering in the middle of a road in very bad health (kidney problems, enlarged heart, limited use of one back leg due to displasia and/or arthritis made worse by what was obviously a life as a breeding machine. She was dumped, for sure, since she was "beyond her useful life." No one responded to notices about her, she wasn't microchipped, no collar. My cousin brought her home last fall and made her as comfortable as possible. She had palate/trachea problems that made her breathing so labored that it was sometimes hard to watch or hear. But she was a happy little pipsqueak, and she loved to sit in my lap when I visited, usually falling asleep and breathing more easily once relaxed. Well, that was a little less than a year ago, and Thursday she got into her little dog bed and went to sleep permanently on her own. I know her last year of life was far more comfortable and loving than what she had previously experienced, so I'm sure her mission as an angel is to guide other neglected dogs to better homes.
So, don't worry, LuLu --- you've got Greta watching over you and all the good vibes from all of us here! I'll try to log on more often to keep up to date on this, Callie. You're amazing!
