Rescuing Lulu (Callie)

Well I haven't seen this because I've been living under a rock (err, a baby?). Congrats and kudos to you and David! That poor girl is so lucky to have worked her way into your lives. Once she heals up even more and you can get a good pic of her, let me know and I'll add her to your siggy.

I can just imagine what 'nickname' SHE will wind up with.  I can already tell she's a complete character, so won't be no wimpy nick fur her!! LOL

Luna's already grateful I *think* that she's short so she can't steal Luna's countersurfing job .... but heck, just wait til the basset beagle mix figgers out this dog will be able to JUMP skyhigh!!

One of the ways Billy nicknamed himself was we kept finding him in all sorts of adventuresome situations -- one day (he'd only been with us a week) David found him out in the laundry building ON TOP of a set of 8 foot high shelves with no visible way he could have 'climbed' up those shelves.

David came in shaking his head and said "well he seems to be quite the adventurer" and we both looked at each other and said simultaneously "BILBO!!"

    *grin*

I just went back and searched the original thread about Lulu and now read this one.  I am so happy you are able to help this little girl.  You're an angel!

The foster mom sent me pics today

This is probably the most striking -- it's Lulu with a 'normal' pug.  Guess which one is gonna be mine?  Broken Heart

this is from the side -- you can see how involved the entire body is, but this only reinforces my STRONG suspicion much of this is contact allergy (see where it follows where she'd lie down on belly/legs or roll over to sleep/scratch?)

And this is the one going on my desktop at work tomorrow -- my girl's face -- beyond all the yuck, there is BIG personality there!!

The biggest part of the infection is gone ... I'm far happier now for her to travel with us.  Last week at this time David and I were concerned she might not make it til we got there.  We've got a long long way to take her tho!!

Oh she's looking so much better.  This pictures are so encouraging.  Keep it up Lulu!!

    • Gold Top Dog

    Congratulations Callie!  You are amazing!!!

Yeah, big improvement with getting the inflammation down in the face.  Seeing these pics tho I am even more convinced what's on her legs, belly, chest -- that's not demodex.  That's contact allergy -- now unlike most Floridians I do *not* have St. Augustine sod.  We have Floritam (at a huge a couple of years ago after I realized both Polly had reacted badly to it and now Billy).

Most vets never give a contact allergy a 2d thot -- it's something you tend to have to have a specialist or dermatology vet (which *duh* IS a specialty vet, callie) catch.  So getting that cleared up is going to be as much of a big deal as the demodex.  I've encouraged the foster mom to keep her off the grass as much as possible.  She's been SOO great!!

I'm gonna send the 'scent' box today -- you should have seen Billy and Kee's faces last night as I was trying to shove that washcloth under them where they lie.  I didn't want to send an agitated scent -- so I figured a "sleep scent" would work.  I 'beat' Luna (she comes to bed later) and had the washcloth already in her bed.    shhhh -- I snuck off David's pillowcase this morning (he really didn't want to contribute a t-shirt *grin*).  Billy did NOT miss the fact that I put a few of his "wheat free's" into a baggie this morning and he did NOT get one!!  But I wanted to send her a little something yummy too.  LOL

Callie you will never cease to amaze me, the things you think of!!!Big Smile   I feel like a child when it comes to trying to learn from you.  I just wish my little pea brain could retain all of it.   I will just have to settle for picking your brain if I need information.   You have the luckiest babies ever, they have a very caring mommy and daddy.

Ditto. I've always said that I'd like a pocket-sized Callie so I had advice whenever I needed it. Smile

Oh, and I think a nakey pug is pretty darn cute.

Man, see what happens when I'm too busy to spend any amount of time on i-dog? Good things happen.  Yay LuLu!  You're gonna be wondering what you did to get such amazing new folkses.  It's amazing how great she looks!  Woohoo!  Go LuLu!!!

Um, Grrrady said he wanted to come play with Billy & PiRate.

Shoot, we ain't done nuffing yet!!  Wish my arms were long enough to stretch from Fl to Tx but I haven't even touched her yet!!  (bossed folks around a bit but then .. this IS me we're talking about *grin*).

Unfortunately we're gonna have to rename her.  The more we think about it (and TALK about it) -- Lulu Bear and Luna Bell are just TOOOOO close.  Every time the 'name' is mentioned Luner looks up at me like "Huh?  NOW what did I do?  WHY are you talking about me like something BAD is wrong with me????????"

It's just going to be TOO confusing.

I like her name no problem -- BUT reality has to have a place here, so we probably just wont' "call" her until we decide
