hmm well, i dont like dogs on my bed for several reasons, mainly because i dont want them thinking they can get up there when ever they jolly well please..... EVERY NIGHT for the first month we had Miki bed time took an HOUR before she finally settled down. who ever had her before apparently let her sleep on the bed. she would go from my side of the bed to DH's and then back around again, sticking her face in ours, putting her paws up there... then at different times she would just JUMP up there in spite of being told "No" and "Down"
and NO we dont have a crate because that brings up the next thing people(DH namely) have tried convince me... CRATES ARE MEAN!!! Yeah, he wont get a bloody crate because he doesnt want to lock the dog up. its mean, cruel, vile, inhumane and "we never crated MY dog when i was a kid!"
i'd like to use one of those agitation sticks on my husband.....
((((((and i'm getting a crate ASAP, as soon as he isnt looking. with his new job he isnt home until after midnight anway... )))))) and Miki and Amber are the only dogs we have that need the crate. Amber is no longer house trained (i guess her previous home let her slide on making accidents in the house. so if i dont put her in our bathroom at night, she'll crap in the dining room the next morning.
hmm... some others....
well, theres the whole Dobermans have to have their skull split or their brains get too big and they'll go mad... heard the same thing about pits and ambulls....
its best to wait till a dog is 1 year old before seriously training it in obedience...
OH lol the best one.. i read a Purina published puppy training manual that said you can your dogs breed by his teeth. domesticated dogs have molars in the back, and wild dogs(spitz and wolves/coyotes etc) dont because they havent been domesticated as long as other breeds. and the molars are evolved so the dog could chew and grind kibble and veggies lol
i should find that book and read it again, it would probably be a hoot lol but when i read it the first time - when i was a novice kid/dog owner i believed every word!
