I appreciate the thoughts and prayer--I truly do.
Apparently the woman who called me from the doctor's was wrong when she told me it was an unidentified mass. The doctor told me that they do know what it is--there are 2 swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my chest. They do not know the cause. They have ordered a PET scan. The doctor said that if the lymph nodes run "hot" on the scan that is cause for concern because that could mean that they are malignant. if they run "cold' that is good and means that it is just due to an infection and they'll just keep me under observation.
Unfortunately, I spent the better part of the afternoon screwing around with the insurance company. The insurance people told both me and the facility that is doing the PET scam that it will take 15 to 30 days to pre-approve the test. The woman at the PET scan place said that this insurance company is notorious for dragging their feet on PET scan--they usually grant them, but they take forever to do so.
So, after having an extremely frustrating and unfruitful discussion with the woman at the insurance company, I went to my human resources manager. She called her contact at the company and was able to get a hold of the supervisor of the department that preapproves such things. The supervisor gave my human resources manager her direct number to fax my medical stuff to, which the PET scan center did. I am hoping it will get approved in time to get it this week. I am supposed to go on vacation Monday and it was preplanned and cannot be changed. This is scary enough would prefer not to worry the entire vacation that I have some horrible disease.....
