OMG I am just catching up since the first page of this thread!  I am sorry you have been put through all the ups and downs.  I am glad to see she is doing better now though!

Lori, I'm really happy that Willow seems to be back on the road to recovery and that things weren't any more serious than they were.

Lori, I didn't get the chance to check the forum all day yesterday, but you and Willow have been on my mind continuously since I caught up on your thread Thursday.

I can only offer continued prayers and good vibes, as I don't have any helpful medical info to pass along to you.  I can also tell you I understand EXACTLY the fear, worry and desperation you've felt these few days -- I've been there myself, and I know how out of control it feels.  To see Willow in pain was awful, I'm sure, and I know you'd gladly trade it for your own pain instead.

I'm heading over to our neighbors' for supper right now -- if we don't get back too late, I'll check back tonight.  Otherwise, I'll look for more updates tomorrow.  I'm glad to hear she's showing signs of regular behavior and routines - she's on the mend!  Sending very big hugs to both of you, and I hope both of you are feeling more rested and peaceful as each hour passes.  Take care.

Lori, you are the "dog mom" that I think we all aspire to be.  You have done anything and everything and never complained about yourself or b*tched about price.

I'm so glad that Willow seems to be out of the woods.  I know how you feel- watching and wondering- there was one sicky time with Rosie that I felt compelled to check her all the time just make sure she was still breathing!

Welcome back to fun life, Willow!  We missed you!

    Thank you so much guys!
She's still doing well.  [:)]DH went and bought another A/C for our spare bedroom.  We have two but this way he figured she could go anywhere in our apartment because with this third one the whole place will be cool.  They said she needs to stay calm and cool.  And, I've told her, no growling at the door, she's off duty!!

Thanks!!  I just thank God I had the money and it wasn't an issue.  When I was doing my waiting at the emergency place--which I waited loooong hours---I saw many people who couldn't afford the treatment their pet needed and the techs and vets were running from the back to the front area trying to work something out with them.

Lori, Glad to hear of Willow's continued improvement. I thought about you while I was away this weekend. I had all three of mine on a camping trip-----The "no dog left behind" vacation camp.

I hope you can determine just what caused this sudden dip, and I hope when you do it is not something that may raise its ugly head again!! I hope you had the three-day weekend to recupe...you and DH and Willow. Willow is such a beautiful chow and Leela sends her best sistershood love to Willow!!!

    Take care.

Lori - I haven't been around too much lately, but saw this and it caught my breathe as I was reading through the posts.  I am so glad Willow is better and so sorry you had to go through this.

Poor Willow, hope she is feeling better!

Thank you.  She's feeling better.  She's eating OK and no more vomiting.  But, she's still not quite right.  I don't know if I should worry or if that is normal with an almost bout of pancreatitis---that's what her vet thinks it is.  But, the x-ray only showed inflammed intestines.  Her activity level still isn't where it was.  She's dragging on walks and short ones at that.  She doesn't engage like she was.  She's just lying around all day.  She's breathing fine, no panting.  She seems very comfortable as far as everything.

Lori, go with your instinct.   It probably is just recovery from her illness, but you're going to end up worrying alot also.   Can you take her to another vet for a second opinion, if for nothing else then to ease your own mind ?
    • Gold Top Dog
Honestly, I don't know much about the dis-ease process with dogs (intestinal stuff) but with humans the aftermath of intestinal inflammation and acute gastritis can last for days to a couple of weeks of not feeling great or "right."  Once the inflammation is down, everything is still healing and recouperating.  If it were me, I wouldn't force her to eat (not that you were) and would consider giving more pepcid (antacid and anti-gas) with your Vet's approval.

Even with her breathing getting back to a normal rate, her ribs (the muscles in between them and the connective tissue that surrounds them) are going to be sore so she still may be uncomfortable.
