Need help with Willow

Even with her breathing getting back to a normal rate, her ribs (the muscles in between them and the connective tissue that surrounds them) are going to be sore so she still may be uncomfortable

Thank you for this!  This makes a lot of sense and I hadn't really thought about that until I read this.  I really appreciate it.

You're welcome! ...it's been a couple days, how is she doing?

I was just going to ask the same thing - how's she feeling ?

Lori - did your vet or the ER doc recommend any follow up visits or tests ?  Prancer's doctor didn't but gave me the "pre pancreatis" diagnosis also - it would be interesting for us to compare notes

Thank you for asking about Willow.

She's still doing well.  I'm seeing improvement with each day.  She's eating well and everything is OK in the poop department.  She's walking again with me, slower but we are up to the same distance.  She zoomed this morning for the first time and I got really emotional and then she thought she did something wrong, LOL!

I spoke with her vet yesterday.  She's going to go to the hospital we went to next week and consult with the specialists there about what to do about her chronic UTI issues.  They will talk and then go from there.  I saw the films yesterday myself.  The stones don't look all that big to me.  I work full time in an MRI facility and one of the radiologists is going to look at them for me next week and give me an opinion.  I work with the best of the best, really caring doctors.

As for the stomach issue--I was shocked at how much poop was impacted in her intestines--it was so obvious on the films.  I can't believe they didn't mention it to me. Especially considering she has IBS which was known to me and that's part of it, you either have diarrhea or constipation.  I don't entirely get it though because she had been pooping at least once a day.

I asked the vet if she could stay on Pepsid once a day because she's always vomiting bile if she doesn't eat enough or goes too long without food.  And, she said that would be fine, it's a relatively benign drug.  As for the i/d I told her I wanted to keep her on it for awhile and she said she'd go with whatever I wanted on that.  But, regardless she needs to be really careful with what she eats and what medication she gets.

She's going to have repeat blood work and urine soon.  But, that's about it.

Thanks for asking about my Willow.  It's nice to have others ask.  [:)]

Lori, I had a few minutes before dinner to check the forum, and I was hoping for a new update on Willow.  I'm glad to hear she's feeling well enough for a zoomie (what an image in my mind - Willow zooming around, while Mom watches tearfully!).  It's great that your vet will consult with the other one, and it'll be really interesting to see what one of your doctors from work says about the films.  It's such a struggle for people to stabilize chronic issues like IBS and UTI's -- it's got to be worse for dogs, since they can't tell us when they're feeling symptomatic or what foods seem to aggravate it, etc.

    Give Willow a big hug!

Dontcha just LOVE zoomies !!!!   Prancer had a "run and jump and play" bout yesterday also so I know what you mean about being emotional about it.
I'm glad she's feeling better and I"m glad your vets are going to talk to each other.

I'm so glad she's feeling better - run your fingers through her hair for me !  And give her a kiss on her muzzle while you're at it :)

You know I visit this forum every now and then, so that's why I'm posting so late on this.  I'm so sorry about Willow.  Is she doing even better today?

Ok, I'm not around much at all.  But as I was looking around I found this post.  I have to tell you, I'm in my office with tears running down my face.  On the edge of my seat, my heart just breaking for you and Willow.  I can't imagine what you've gone through.  And then, this post just pushed me right over the edge:

So now I'm the crazy lady crying in her office for no apparent reason to outsiders.  [&:]

I hope Willow is doing better and you've had a chance to rest and recoup.

One of our 'problem children' had a bowel obstruction (over the weekend of course - they never seem to get sick M-F 9-5, ya know?).  After 2 ER visits over the weekend, they did an emergency surgery on him on a Sunday afternoon.  I was in another state getting our daughter from my mothers.  Sigh...... they keep ya a wreck sometimes, don't they?

This is the first time today I have logged on to this forum and I can't believe how much support and well wishes were given to willow and her owner. It brought tears reading everyones response and advice.

Thank you guys!!  Sorry to make you cry at work!  Yes, she did get an incredible amount of support here.  I really needed it too.
