Need help with Willow

Thank you so much.
I'm trying to get back to some type of normal day today.
She's resting well.  I just talked with her regular vet about everything she went thru yesterday.
She thinks it's a pancreatitis that's just not picking up on the ultrasound.  She doesn't think inflammed intestines would cause the pain she was in.  Or, she thought maybe she was just so completely stressed from not feeling well, etc that she was acting like that.  I don't know but she is pretty comfortable now so that's good.

Wow, pancreatitis??  are they worried about that - i have a dog who has had 2 bouts with that and has ended up hospitalized for a week each time.  she is now on an extremely bland diet.  Do they want you to bring her back in?

hugs to you & light scratchings to Willow!  from all in the dog house - get well soon

I'm so happy to hear that both you and Willow were able to get some much needed rest.  Hopefully it's changed the direction on her getting better.  I hope things continue to go smoothly.

Right now she just wants me to see how she does.  She's asleep right now and later we'll try some bland food.  I'll see how it goes.  If she's not doing well within the next day or so, yeah, she's gonna have to go back for more tests.  It's just such an odd situation--she's got all kinds of symptoms that just don't add up with the blood work normal and a negative ultrasound.

I'm just praying and reminding God how I always thank him for her.  And, to please not take her from me like this.  That's all I want.

Lori - thanks for all the updates, I keep checking.  I'm glad she's resting.   Hopefully she's "over the hump" and it just keeps getting better from here.   I'll pray that they figure the problem out so that you can get resolution - not knowing exactly what it is must be driving you nuts.
Give her a REALLY BIG HUG from me.

She thinks it's a pancreatitis that's just not picking up on the ultrasound. She doesn't think inflammed intestines would cause the pain she was in.

I am not trying to scare you, but please tell your vet she is wrong about intestinal pain!  Before my mother passed away she was running a very high fever and in severe pain.  None of the tests had detected what was wrong, so my dad insisted on an autopsy.  The only thing they found was an extremely inflamed section of intestine.  If Mom had been in good enough shape to survive exploratory surgery, they might have been able to save her.

I am not encouraging surgery.  I just don't want your vet to close off an avenue of thought.  Have you considered adding slippery elm to her diet?  See this site: [linkhttp://www.dogaware.com/specific.html#ibd]www.dogaware.com/specific.html#ibd[/link]

Willow, please get well quickly!!  [sm=crossfingers.gif][sm=crossfingers.gif][sm=crossfingers.gif]

Thank you everyone.  I smile each time I see a new post from someone I've spoken with and hadn't seen in awhile.

And, Janet I will e-mail you at some point for those links you mentioned in the PM.
And, for anyone whose PM'd me, thank you so much.  If I haven't gotten back it's not because I didn't appreciate the messages but I'm soooooo exhausted it's hard to do much.  And, I am trying(very hard) to get some errands and things I had planned to do done before I'm out of time off.

Anyway, I don't think it's pancreatitis myself.  I worked for someone in the past whose dog had that.  And, as bad as Willow is her dog had similar symptoms but much worse.  And, the pancreas on the ultra sound was normal.

I think they are grasping at straws because other than gastroenteritis or a IBD flare up there's nothing.

She's resting well now.  No more vomiting.  She's well drugged though with anti nausea meds.  But, she did take some food and she's drinking on her own.

I went over to pet her and she put her muzzle in my hand.  [sm=floating.gif]

Question for everyone---Is it really true that the dog is ill if the nose is warm?  I had thought it could get warm if they were lying down and some other times.  I'm just curious because it's warm and dry but she wasn't ever running a fever.

Thanks!!

Lori, I just saw this and have never read so fast in my life. I read the entire thread and am so sorry that you have had to go through this. I hope Willow is doing better and continues to get well. I can't imagine how scared I would be feeling if this were going on with Ash. My thoughts are with you and Willow.
