Will Big Brown Take the Crown ???

For any horse race fans out there , AOL has some amazing photos of the contenders for the Belmont on line today.  The Hubs swore from the start Big Brown was "the Guy" .  He is one fantastic animal ! I particularly love the photos of him being bathed... or playing with his exerciser rider.  He has a presense that most of his opponents lack , well Macho Again  is a rather glorious Dapple.  But Casino Row just "looks" mediocre ....for the most part anyway. They have one spectacular shot of him collected in gallup all four hooves up , almost mythical ..you look for the wings Wink

This may be an amazing year for many , many reasons and races Cool

OOhh - I hope so!!  It's time for a Triple Crown winner. How long has it  been?  Thirty years? And I understand that in all those 30 years, a TC winner would have been possible only about 10 or 11 times.

may not be popular but I think this horse is supposed to win the TC and that's what will happen.

I wish all the horses and jockey's a safe trip.

He's a fine animal, but I don't think Secretariat's Belmont record is in any danger. Wink

With Big Brown's time in the Derby, he wouldn't have even been in Secretariat's vapor trail.

I hope so!! I know a lot of people are rooting against him, but i hate how people go against the grain, "to be different". I really wanna see a TC winner in my lifetime! Oh, and big brown is gorgeous!

    oooh snap...he lost...

And they have YET to even talk about or to, who actually...WON the race. How disprespectful to the winner. :eyeroll:

I'm glad he didn't win, but I won't get in to an argument here about whether or not this is something that's right. I hope he's alright though.

I thought the same thing. I realize it's a huge surprise that Big Brown did so poorly, but to barely give any recognition to the winner is just ridiculous.

I hope Big Brown is okay and just didn't feel like working up a sweat today.

Between the heat and his notoriously bad hooves, I'm glad BB ran within his ability/limitations/mood today instead of pushing himself too far and breaking down  in the process!

That finish shocked me.....but, eh......no steroids, too hot and a crack in the hoof could have done him in........remember "Eight Belles"......karma is a b...., eh......

I was just glad to see Kent Desormeaux ease up and let him come in last than to try to push him when he could tell something wasn't right. I think that showed he cares more for the horse than the glory.

I like how they are obsessed with finding a "reason" for his loss, like the horse just being hot and not exactly wanting to run the longest race of his life that fast isn't a good enough explanation.  It makes sense to me.  Today is not his day.  They should consider themselves lucky he isn't really hurt.

Good on Da'Tara!  It also bugs me that the coverage stayed with Big Brown.  You know, Da'Tara was in the lead the ENTIRE time, it's not like BB fell or screwed up and that's why someone else won....

I have a video clip of that race on my computer. It's mind-boggling. My favorite part if when the announcer is just yelling in astonishment "Secretariat is widening now! He is moving like a a TREMENDOUS MACHINE!!" 31 lengths....amazing.

They should clone that horse just to study him LOL.

I agree.  It spoke volumes about that jockey's character.  I do wish we could have seen him get the Crown, but not at the expense of his health or soundness.
